William's backhand topspin and backhand flick were just splendid!
I noticed that also. This match was all about the serve. Wang Liqin started to figure out how to return the Henzell serve starting at 7-2 in the second game. Before that point Liqin is lost and Henzell is on fire. From this point on Liqin starts to play better and Henzell plays well also but he has a few too many costly errors.
Everyone plays better against styles they are used to. WLQ does more physical fitness than just about anyone on the national team, and its why he has kept in such amazing shape for the past decade. That being said, I still think he is quite naturally coordinated. Thousands upon thousands of players train insanely hard in China, but very few if any have the combination of size and quickness that WLQ has. I think part of that is just natural.
I wonder what would have happened if Henzell had won that second game. Liqin probably would have come back and won anyway but a 2-0 deficit is a challenge even for the top Chinese players. I did not know that they became friends after but I do know that Liqin is a great sport and probably had mad respect for Henzell after their match
wow, that's the first time I've really seen a top player completely confused by a serve
Henzell, honestly that was his game !! He was leading all 4 sets.
I would like if Henzell had won that game. Eventually, that both of them became good friends !!
Not a convincing win for WLQ at all. I do wish that Henzell won this match, and I think he's the rightful winner, as he played better. Wang Liqin coped very well mentally, but this was a poor match for Wang.

How was he better if he can almost only win when he has service? Why he's the "rightful winner"?
@maxrogers25

@@ttime9947 Because he played better. serving is a big part of table tennis, as a point cannot start without it, and this time william had the better serve. at 10 -10 wang got "lucky" as he hit the edge of his bat.

@@ttime9947 i agree, wang is the better player and has a better game, but william played better in this match and in my opinion, deserved to win
wlq isn't naturally coordinated. he trains the most on the national team. when playing styles he's used to, he can go all out. but when vsing an unorthodox style, he has trouble adjusting. henzell has a jerky motion, weird serve, and a lot of wrist on his bh. shots come out fast but sacrifice control. there was a guy who designed his own racket based on wrist shots who upset wlq before. in the long run, control is more important in this game so they never really reached the top.

17teacmrocks who was the guy who designed his own bat. Do u mean he actually changed the shape of the blade and handle to help with wrist shots or did he just choose a blade and rubbers?
I want to learn William's serves :P
What a rallye at 3:05 :-D Relly nice and big luck =D
3:15 - 3 :30 and thanks for the upload ..
wow WLQ had a rough time with Henzell's serve!
Wow Henzell is very talented. He was more than a match for Wang and probably deserved the win. A couple of wayward backhands cost him I think. Very impressive for an Australian player. No slight against Aussies but i've never seen one of that level.

I'm not sure he was more than a match for Wang, I think Wang definitely deserved this win. Henzell's wayward backhands were always at crucial moments, where he COULD have capitalized and taken control of the game which is telling, he's wasn't a mature enough player. Sometimes even when players look closely matched, there's actually a large gap between them. I think this match is a good example of this
11:6,10:12,9:11,9:11 WLQ didn't won, he just didn't lost. After the first 2 games, he started just chopping Henzell's serves, afraid he won't return then properly. And we are talking about Wang Liqin, not only he is in the chinese national team, he one of the most experienced players in it. William didn't win, but this match is one big victory not only for him, but for the entire world vs China.
Wang Liqin nunca pudo reeditar sus grandes actuaciones de los campeonatos mundiales ni en las olimpiadas ni en las copas del mundo.
since i speak english and german i did understand it but it was a very strange mix u have to admit ;)
3:16 best point
Nice serve by Henzell....but good late game from Liqin.
smartnerd12 nope thaats not jike @ 3:32. thats chinese photographer li wei. he lives in nanjing and hes a friend of mine. hahahaha
WLQ at 1:58 "who the F is this guy?"
best point @ 3:16
Nothing is impossible because Wang is getting older and he's a player that waits for the opponent's mistakes. Wang liqin lost against an Iranian not so famous, cause that guy plays with both hands. I knew they became friends from Henzell's videos.
Wang Liqin lost so many points on the returned-serve. How weird is that serve? lol
Undeserved loss!!
He really could have won this match!
trickery doesn't work on wlq
SERIOULY, William could have beaten the GREAT Liqin if he was a little bit more luck and liqin a little bit lesser !!
サーブ効きスギィ!
maybe.... hmmm...... BECAUSE IT´S NOT ZJ???
henzell is good, his back hand is a killer. I think china men are more mentally conditioned, this is their big advantage plus they have been training with clones. Clones which immitates moves of non-chinese top players.
he's no more GREAT !! Ma Lin is the GREATEST !!!
i hate this !!! if henzell had won , persson woulda probably got that bronze he deserved!! :-P
dafuq did i just read?
Some chinese top-players have tendency to "fall asleep" in the beginning of games against easy opponents. Then they "woke up" later and their opponents have no chances then

i wouldn't say Henzell is an easy opponent, that's for sure. Despite being ranked in the top world 100 at something like 90 his game when on is DEFINATELY a top 30 game. i know this as it is common knowledge within the international scene. You just have to look at his game here despite the obvious mistakes to see that. Also in his career he has consistently beaten players in the top 50. Rankings are not always accurate as they reflect tournament play . At his best even if Waldner only played a few tournaments his ranking would probably not reflect his skill and how good he is. Its the same with anyone else. THE MAN DESERVES ALL THE RESPECT POSSIBLE. Also for anyone to make it in the top 100 world rankings for their sport is imo achieving a level beyond 99%of people whom play that sport and are deserving of great admiration and respect.

Wang Liqin wasn't so good against backhand oriented players,he lost important matches against Samsonov and Schlager due to his backhand deficiency and his rather limited touch.
he cant retourn henzzels serves
Henzell didnt win cause he didnt want to
