Cas Marques has been the Rangers equipment manager for many, many years including Lundqvist’s entire career, and it was recently reported that he is in treatment for lung cancer. He’s a big deal for the franchise anyway, but I think it’s fair to assume that the reaction also has a lot to do with his illness.

I am Canadian and was born and raised and still live in “the heart of Maple Leaf territory “ …I am a grandmother of 7 and I have been a Ranger’s fan since I was 5 years old. I have loved and followed the Rangers through the good and the bad…the rich years and the lean years. I have watched players come and go…seen some mighty fine young boys become men and become New York Ranger Legends (Bathgate, Giacomin, Gilbert, Ratelle, Hadfield, Howell, Leetch, Richter, Messier, Graves) I’ve seen them all play in my time! And what a thrill it’s been! Henrik is one of those Legends…he ‘s the best of the best and he exudes grace and class both on and off the ice. This was a fitting tribute to a great player and an even greater man. Thank you Henrik for 15 years of excitement…I wish you well in the next chapter of your life! ❤️🎈🥅🏒🇨🇦

Literally the best Game 7 goalie of all time. Literally the only reason we got even one playoff appearance from 06-17, let alone 11 of them. He carried NYR hockey through gross managerial incompetence and dreadful contracts comprising the rest of the roster for a decade and a half, and he joined the league late. The King.

He said it his heart said no. Leaving NY broke his heart in so many ways. Just glad he is alive to continue to do things that make him happy and spend time with his family.

What a great night this was. I was in attendance (camera shows me at 47:11, I'm the one in the white Rangers jersey on the right with the turtleneck). Sucks they lost but it was totally worth sticking out a snowstorm to honor the greatest goalie I got to watch play as a fan. #LGR

I was in attendance for this, but the arena volume in my section was very low. As you can imagine, this was quite disappointing...therefore, this upload is much appreciated.

I’m a ranger fan and that’s what happens when the tickets go for 500 dollars. The casuals with money go, while the hard working blue collar crowd doesn’t.

@@joshp8184, what I meant was that the speaker volume (🔊🔊) in my section was very low. That, combined with an electric crowd, drowned out much of the ceremony.

As a habs fan, even though I’m still a bit salty over 2014, you have to respect Lundqvist. I do wish he could have retired with a cup but he brought rangers fans so many good memories that I don’t think it matters at this point.
