Interesting. The way I interpreted that line was a bit different. Frollo is a man of God, a priest, and if he takes Esmeralda for himself, he is, in a way, denying his religion by succumbing to sin. I think he thinks that he will be damned, because he strayed away from God and gave in to temptation. So it’s not living in hell per se, but literally going to hell. That’s my interpretation anyways lol

This ver. is great :)! 1:06 Mmm, I would put "¿Por qué al verla ahí bailar por sus ojos pierdo yo el control?" or "¿Por qué, al verla ahí bailar, por sus ojos pierdo yo el control?" And I would choose the first sentence. But there in the vid with "¿Por qué, al verla ahí bailar por sus ojos, pierdo yo el control?" seems wrong, just in case I tell you :) "Me" is "mí", with an accent in Spanish. Just "mi" means "my" (mi canción~) So it's "Dios se apiade de *mí*", "Si el diablo es demasiado fuerte para *mí*", etc :)

He's purely splendid! I also love his Catalan version, he's such a pleasure to listen to * ^ * Yep, guess so. In Italian I find the same problem. Sometimes, they substitute accents with apostrophes, and I can imagine how confusing and frustrating that can be for foreigners =.=" Oh, ok, thanks XD There's actually one other thing I wished to ask you. Hahaha don't worry ;P I also find it so weird to listen to him in Catalan: same singer, but while I can understand 84% of what he says while he's singing in Spanish, when it gets to Catalan, I understand almost nothing XD Yes, I was hoping you knew some magic formula to find it, but I confess it was just tiny hope. Unfortunately, I couldn't find the episodes I needed :/ Well, thank you so much for taking the trouble anyway!

Ok, la verdad es que no puedo elegir entre la versión latina y esta. Siento que en español castellano es mejor por el lado de mostrar el deseo, me encanta el inicio cuando está frente a la chimenea, en especial en el minuto 1:22 cuando dice "Ardiente deseo" uuuuy, adooro, pero igual siento que la versión latina es en general más fuerte en todos los aspectos. AA pero en ser extrema, ninguna le gana a la versión francesa

Yo soy latinoamericano y sinceramente me gusta más esta versión en español europeo, no solo por la expresividad del actor de doblaje al cantar sino también porque, objetivamente, en ocasiones la letra en la versión latina no tiene sentido y ni siquiera rima, en cambio aquí sí rima y tiene sentido en todo momento. Sin embargo, concuerdo totalmente en que la versión francesa le gana con creces a cualquier otra. Es la mejor de todas.

También prefiero la versión española, especialmente por el significado de la lírica. La última línea ("Mía o no, habrá condenación"), aunque no esté ni en la original ni en la versión para Hispanoamérica, siento que suma bastante por esa idea de que, por sus creencias, si o si uno de los dos sería llevado al Infierno. Si Esmeralda rechazaba la oferta de Frollo, entonces él la condenaría. En cambio, si ella aceptaba, entonces Dios lo condenaría a él. Creo que también mencionaría el enorme contraste con la canción que Quasimodo canta justo antes de esta ("Luz Celestial"), pero siento que aplica para todas las versiones.

A mí me gustan ambas, aunque me inclino ligeramente por la versión hispanoamericana, más que nada por la potencia en el timbre de voz del actor que dobló a Frollo. No obstante, la castellana retiene mejor la traducción de la versión original.

0:50 The Latin here should say "Et tibi, Pater" not "Et tibit, Pater". There is no final "t" in the 2nd person singular pronoun in the dative case.

Honestly there’s parts of this one I like more and parts of the Latin American version I like more xD

Much better than the French version

This is a rare translation that retains in full the "not my fault if in God's plan he made the devil stronger than man" bit. This line, in full, is essential as it's the smoking gun. Frollo is abdicating responsibility and blame for his own wretched sin directly onto God. Without this line unaltered and in full, it does not completely expose his hypocrisy and cowardice.

castillian isn't a language, it just doesn't exist. This is european spanish, and it's sometimes referred as castillian spanish because of the old kingdom of Castilla

No , it is not , Castillian is just the language and Spain is one of the nations that speak it .

The original english one is better but O giess that it is a passable adaptation, it transmits the main point even if it loses like half of the subtleties, not like those could have been better translated, the animation and music was made for the original English so there was only soo much that the localizers could do, Spanish is more verbose than English.
