Yes, this was a very important episode of Charmed. This episode had the first known instance of Phoebe worship by an underling at the newspaper workplace. Charmed was never the same after that.

50:32 I lost it when Phoebe said that meeting Paige wasn't worth it. I know there is no place for other people is Phoebe's heart than herself.... But please Charmed Staff, At least make Phoebe pretend to care about her sisters if she is supposed to be the heart of the show!

I think the most underrated comment in this podcast was from Randy when he says "Did Phoebe just go to this demonic wasteland so she could allow Cole the honour of kissing her ring finger before he moved on to hell for eternity"

Phoebe use to be my favorite as a child, I was young and stupid and didn't realize how awful her character became, well atleast starting season 3, as an adult Prue is my favorite followed by Piper

I listened to the Shannen Doherty podcast after you mentioned it here. Interesting that this is an episode written by Brad Kern, because during that podcast Holly Marie Combs mentioned that he would also "polish" everyone else's scripts as well. If Piper says "we're screwed" in an episode you know The Kernel put his touch on it.

•The show makes it seem like Piper had to open the van door to freeze Agent Jackman because he is in a “room” and her freeze wouldn’t effect in if the door is closed. (The whole she can only freeze what’s in the room she’s in) •Leo needs to touch people to orb them •How can Phoebe miss her powers when she never uses them? •They’ve never met Demon who could freeze time. (Piper is a liar) •Paige does have the power of “Sensing” but she never uses it. She only uses it a handful of times in the show.

Considering how Bruce Campbell really commits to his roles, to say he wastes his talent in this speaks volumes.

Charmed should be a case study on why good/evil dichotomies should not be written by Narcissists. XD

You know, they could have made Phoebe sympathetic here and in season 5 if they focused on the loss of her unborn child and the trauma associated with it instead of blaming Cole for everything or "will she ever find love again?".

they act like it was always the source's child but the seer herself said the baby was destined to be a powerful good witch. so they changed the baby's future by turning it evil. but the seer even says in her final episode in that arc that it was never phoebe's baby. and even the sisters act like it was always the source's baby. so maybe she rationalized away as it was never my baby. just another demon. or feels lke that.

Any place with Phoebe in it is Hell.

What a charming way to start the new year, and with our evil overlord phoebe too

So there's a series of The Take character analysis of the Charmed Ones written by a fan of the show. Now inheritently, I know I'm not going to like her videos after 2 seconds of starting the video, but her Phoebe essay made me laugh in a way she probably definitely didn't intend. Her opening line: "Piper may be the heart of the family, but Phoebe is the heart of the show." ...oh honey...you're so right...sadly.

That line is true if the show's heart is a self-centered and egotistical.

Just on the whole "it doesn't affect Leo" thing... how would that even work? If Piper gave up her powers for a normal life, what would happen there? Would Leo have to become human too to fulfil the normal life wish? Seems like that would affect him. Or does Piper have a 'normal magic-free life' still married to a Whitelighter? Even if the Angel of Destiny could arrange it so the magic demon world stayed on its side of the fence and left Piper alone, she'd still have to deal with a husband who occasionally has to orb out to go save a witch, or comes home with a Darklighter arrow in the butt.

Between Shannen and Milano, they definitely made the worst choice possible

The whole Destiny Angel thing sounds less more a congratulations gift and more like them trying to swept the Charmed Ones under the rug when it turned out that they were less than stellar heroes

I always cheer up hearing "Welcome back to Charmed Rewind!" You have such a nice voice to listen to Allison.

Because Phoebe was truly the victim in all of this! Shut all the way up, Charmed! Phoebe is obligated to fix a mess she helped create, at this point! But Phoebe would rather pick the lazy option! This episode makes me so mad, I can't even!

This is one of those peak “Phoebe and Piper are such terrible people that they should have brought back witches being burned at stakes *just* for them” episodes. I can’t even rewatch this show without hearing your voice impressions now 😂

Bruce Campbell’s “Boomstick" magic wasn’t groovy enough for Charmed.

Phoebe was always my least favorite Charmed One, even back when I was an adolesent. Season 3 planted the seeds with her relationship with Cole, but Season 4 after they vanquish the source she becomes the worst character on the show, and a lot of the show's worst writing stems from her that's not related to bad continuity or weird writing flaws. I know a lot of people who side with Phoebe in this situation, but for me this is a clear case of uneven gender roles, where Cole's side NEVER gets taken into consideration, regardless of what flaws he did play on his part (as he admittedly wasn't perfect) he at least suffers consequences for them, Phoebe does not. In fact she is reward with a new boyfriend in Jason, becomes a celebrity for her column. Especially when they ignore the fact that Cole NEVER wanted to become the source, he just became that way because the Seer manipulated him into becoming the next source. He just took in the hollow to save the Charmed Ones, and is visibly angry at the Seer when he finds out the next episode. And his influence even saved the sisters in a couple cases. He only gets doomed to be the source because Phoebe vanquished the wizard, and while tempted by the Seer it was HER choice! And when Cole suffers her consequences she decides to leave him in hell because its too much of a bother for her. In Season 5 when Cole comes back she assaults him multiple times, gaslights him into always thinking he could be evil and ultimately creates the version of him he becomes in season 5, its actually a very realistic case of mental abuse. Paige and Prue are my favorites personally and this episode has one of Paige's best outings, I hate how in comparison to Piper and Phoebe her perspective on things, especially when it comes to magic is never taken into account, they were just going to make the choice for her! There's even an episode where she condemns Cole for killing two people at a bar for self defense (who were crooks btw) yet in the very next season Phoebe and Paige use magic to get a criminal killed as punishment. Or any other time they have killed people. Or how she doesn't like how Cole killed a man who was about to expose them in the Superhero episode, yet in Season 7 they are fine with leaving Inspector Sheridan in a comatose state because she wanted to expose them! The hypocrisy of the Charmed Ones is beyond infuriating in later seasons. If you couldn't tell, even as a Charmed fan, Phoebe sucks and so does this episode. lol And I love Season 4, she is the Margoyle easily, she's the worst! Paige is the Carman. It also really does seem like Alyssa Milano was the common demoniator in the Charmed drama, especially when it came to Shannen and Rose, I support Shannen 100%

always hated the baby storyline. she acts like it doesn't even affect her. then in season six she abuses her powers trying to find the future father of her kids. losing a child should traumatize you. but it didn't. neither did losing prue. she was sorry for losing cole for lke 5 minutes and that's it.

So...literally every creative decision is wrong. But my hyperfixation is this show making Bruce Campbell the surprise villain, expecially when the pretty, vulnerable looking blonde girl is the surprise victim. on the whole "phoebe''s job" thing, my new headcanon is that her power developped to allow her mind control or influence of some degree and she just never noticed because it goes in her favour... although the elders would have been jerks enough to punish her for misusing a power she doesn't even knows she has :/

Same- especially paired with Phoebe saying how “none of it [magic] seemed worth it anymore”, including meeting/having Paige. Yet another lost opportunity for proper sister drama leading to growth. Yea I agree! Throughout the series, there’s always been conflicting canon regarding the orb rules. In this case of orbing with Darryl, I always understood this instance as an emergency exception to whatever rules, given the high risk of exposure.

It's a shame there is so much bad blood between Alyssa and Shannen/Rose and Alyssa. We will never get a full on reunion panel. That said, I hate Phoebe.

One of those guys must've ended up empty handed... And Carman would be the Angel of Destiny. He's come so far in life that all he has to do is hang around people's homes who've fulfilled their destiny to wait for their decision AND he got to meet Britney Spears. Cool.

Weirdly enough I just finished watching Ash vs Evil Dead, Bruce Campell's one liners are so good in that show. Such a big contrast with his character in this episode.

I dread the day we have to cover Phoebe and Cole's Wedding episode! Phoebe was the ultimate Bridezilla! Or the following episode, when Piper and Phoebe just leave Paige sitting alone at the bar! Someone draw Phoebe and Piper as the Ugly Stepsisters from Cinderella, please!

Hate this episode , This is the moment in the show that they decided phoebe and piper were above any form of accountability for their actions. What a sharp contrast from the beginning of this season ,, are we sure phoebe is not a warlock

Piper was told by her doctor that since she had some scarring on her uterus it would be difficult, or impossible to get pregnant. She attributed this to all the demon battles. I never understood Paige's line about not having sisters. How about "Without being witches I wouldn't exist"? Because if they weren't witches, that would mean no one in their family were witches, which would probably mean Sam and Patty never would have met, and Paige wouldn't exist. Victor was mortal, so Prue, Piper and Phoebe would still be around. But not Paige. Piper had to open the door to freeze Agent Jackman because her powers don't work outside the room or area she's in. She would have frozen the construction workers and other people outside but not Jackman.

All the Cole talk makes me wish there were a Charmed Christmas special where the sisters got coal from santa, and so went on a quest to destroy him. At the end it turns out he was influenced by a succubus posing as mrs. clause and actually intended to give them all amazing gifts because they're sooo special.

Hazbin Hotel is a series about the daughter of Lucifer working to redeem and save condemned souls to Heaven because she wants better things for people. The literal daughter of Satan has more goodness and compassion in her pinky than one of the supposed ultimate forces of good.

I stated hating her life one third of the way in season 4, actually. Piper since the neighbor Dan bullshit.

I was listening to your podcast on headphones earlier and again that shitty "poorly written episodes" clip almost blew my eardrums off. I don't understand why you have to have something so loud, shrill AND unnecessary in your otherwise very good podcast! But that's your decision, of course. Either I download the mp3 versions of your episodes and simply cut this crap out, or it's completely done for me. I don't know yet if I want to make the effort. As I said, it's a shame and unnecessary, but oh well 👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻 😡🤬
