Beautiful animation. Explaining further how the rotor system works, there are 3 inputs go to the main rotor. 1) Swashplate to the rotor, 2) Swashplate to the stabilizer bar, and 3) stabilizer to the rotor. The stabilizing aspects of the rotor mainly comes from 3). The stabilizing system is basically a mechanical gyro sensor with aerodynamic damping. Well, since this video was published back in 2012, all radio controlled helicopter manufacturers have moved away from such mechanical stabilizing system and moved to 3-axis electronic gyro system. The two mixers mentioned in the video have all disappeared since then.

I wouldn't go as far to say disappeared, but certainly less common. My 450 is a flybar, albeit I bought it used. However a few companies (Avant comes to mind) still make flybarred helicopters. For how much longer, is anyones guess...
@atomicskull6405

They still use flybars in industrial machines like the Yamaha Rmax and it's successor the Fazer (which came out in 2016). This is because a flybar is head referenced rather than airframe referenced and because it's completely mechanical there is no control loop delay (in a flybarless system the airframe most move before the sensors detect it, then an appropriate response is calculated and implemented by the servos and then the airframe must move before the sensors detect the change, and this loop repeats). In the case of the Rmax and Fazer, there is an electronic stability system similar to a flybarless controller in *addition* to the flybar. By doing this they get an exceptionally stable platform that has the advantages of both mechanical and electronic stability.

Very well done congrat. The only thing I figured out so far are the cyclic commands (tilt forward, back, and both sides) this is done actually 90° before the actual effect is needed to take into account gyroscopic at play. Ex if you want your rotor disk to tilt forward the blae forward should lower it's lift (i.e. reduce it's angle of attack) and the rear one should augment it's lift (raise it's angle of attack) so as to create this forward lift and motion. But actually this action would commanded by the head rotor mechanism when the blades are on the sides because the resulting effect will only be felt 90° later. Pitch mechanism is far easier to grasp.

Nice video but forgive my ignorance as I am struggling to see what it's for and Google hasn't helped! As I understand it it's some kind of servo mixer that mixes the pilots commands with commands from the teetering mini rotor, is that correct? not seen this on real helicopters so is it used today or mostly in models? what advantages does it have? also does the main rotor seesaw too, because I can't tell and it looks like it doesn't but I thought twin rotors usually do.it all looks really clever and if anyone can explain it or give me a link I would love to see your comments below.
