When I met some Ukrainians in UK many years ago we all could understand each other without any translation, any prior knowledge of both languages. We found that wa are all mixed up... My family lived at banks of Niemen River but many of guys and girls from western Ukraine got grandparents of Polish origin. Could you believe how strong we all could be toghether like in times of commonwealth?

In ukrainian the "g" sound over time became "h" due to the accent, that's why Ukrainians say "h" in the same places in words where russians and poles say "g", and it's visualised by the same "г" letter. In ukrainian you have separate ґ letter for the "g" sound.

@@pavelh.1622 The Czechs are far away from understanding the processes that took place in 1990. I think that we Serbs and Russians have distanced ourselves so much from the rest of the Slavic people, returning to our roots and our traditions that we do not perceive others as part of one nation. The Slavic world ceased to exist, so that at least Serbs and a good part of Russians no longer perceive it as existing. That is why I left this comment. After all, I cannot make a difference between Czechs, Slovaks, Poles, Croats and some German, Anglo-Saxon. ... the processes have done their work, we are left with only a very uncertain future, possibly a bigger conflict among ourselves, the former Slavs

@@allasdrinski926 Its little generally crazy view from you position on the Slavs "culture". Yes you are absolutly allright, that we like Czechs, Slovaks, Poles have noting together with russian world and "russian-slavic nation" and We could seen this crazy difference mainly after 1968 and russian occupation of Czechoslovakia. And this is our diferent view. I like Czech, dont see any Slavic nation, only Slavic roots, traditions culture and some way of thinking. In this case we are absolutly not same like Germans, or Anglo-Saxs. Ok you can say it, if you know only czech people from Prague? Because Prague is city with more and more west and consume culture... Sorry, but from your view of world i see only really narrow view on our nations and culture. But can absolutly say, that Czechs, Slovaks, Poles etc. have still more together with culture of Ukraine, then Moscow russian world. And we remember words of our great writer Karel Havliček Borovsky, who say after he came from Russia in 1890! "Russians want to say that we are slavic brothers and everywhere is slavic nations, because they can say afterwards: "here is Russia and russian nation". For us it means, they comming to our homes like brothers and stay like imperialist occupants. :) I wish only great to Serbs and little understand your way of the for-russian thinking, mainly after 1990 years, but you could have to had sometimes more critical view on your Big Brother. :) Veliki pozdrav z regiona Morava!

When you see that all Slavic peoples disagree with 2 Slavic countries, I think you lose all credibility to use the "tradition" argument. We're all sticking to our traditions, we all celebrate our roots. Banderowcy did some terrible things to us, my family is from Lwów and we both lost our old house and village and some people. But it's _nothing_ compared to what the Russians did to us, and to Ukraine, and to Chechia. Just stop and think for at least one second - what country had consistently tried to stamp out all other Slavic traditions? Russia. Russia has. Russia god rid of "Russians" and tried to turn them all into Soviets first (seriously look this up, the amount of classic Russian culture that was lost is very sad) and then they did this to Poles, to Ukrainians, they try to do this to every other Slavic country. The only thing threatening the many Slavic traditions is Russia, and with Serbia so deeply in its pocket it's just as guilty of letting it happen. The Serbia of today is not the Serbia that helped us, now they're the ones trying to legitimise Russian ethnic cleansing. It's disgusting how many Serbs seems to agree. Germany apologised for what they did. They paid a lot to fund our rebuilding and modern infrastructure, they built museums and memorials to all the victims of their war. What did Russia do? Oh, yeah, they refuse to acknowledge anything and they're trying to Russify Ukraine yet again. Always remember that Slavic culture doesn't come from Russia or Serbia any more than it comes from any other Slavic country. All Slavic peoples have their own interpretations and evolutions of it over the centuries. But only one of them is still actively trying to stamp out everyone else's culture and impose their own.
