This nordic folklore, a baby born under an eclipse was special. They were shapeshifters and could change age even. You will notice briefly that the baby is actually born with antler nubs which grow with her. She is a Guardian of Nature and at the end she blends with the bison/ox. It's more tribal than "folk" this is the translation/background given by the amazing Nidels who spreads his knowledge on almost every Heilung track The lyrics for this piece are mainly taken from bracteates: golden, circular coins or amulets found in Northern Europe that date from the 4th to 7th centuries CE. They are often fitted with a decorated rim and loop, which indicates that they were meant to be worn and perhaps provide protection, fulfil wishes or for divination. The bracteates feature a very significant iconography influenced by Roman coinage. They were predominantly made from Roman gold, which was given to the North Germanic peoples as peace money. In Anoana, the listener has the chance to delve into a collection of likely encoded spells from the Migration Period and get a touch of magic from the Dark Ages. The intention of the piece is to playfully reconnect to an incantational language of a period where the North was richer in gold than any other region. Our forefathers presumably enjoyed a time of great prosperity and it may make us rethink how dark these ages real Above the sign on the womb of the giving birth mother is probably a painted version of Ægirs Hjelm/Aegishjalmur/Ægishjálmr ("Ægir's Helmet"), which is a symbol described in the Poetic Edda as a symbol of ultimate protection, physical, mental and spiritual referred to as protection against all kinds of fear "Ægir/Ægi" means "Sea" in both dialects of Old Norse and is also the name of the personification of the sea. "Ægir's Gate", describes the eddies that drag ships to the bottom of the sea. Ægir / Ægi has often been described as an old man with a long white beard, and to see him standing still in the water was a bad omen, as he surfaced to drag people and ships to the bottom of the ocean. Ægirs Hjelm is described in the Poetic Edda in a stanza with a shape-shifting dragon, Fafner, whose blood is poisonous. The dragon guards a treasure and, with the help of Ægirs Hjelm's spell, is invincible. In The Galdrabók, the symbol is also described as something "you wear on your forehead, between your eyebrows"). In any case, this must be taken with tweezers since it may be wrong. About the solar eclipse perhaps these images would be connected with the symbol of the black sun. For the ancients, the sun was the source of life, as it provided them with heat and energy. The lack of him was just the opposite. For the ancient peoples, it seems that the periodicity and continuity of day and night made us think not only of the existence of 1 sun, but of two suns, one bright and luminous and the other black. One represented life and the other death. This could be translated as the balance between light and dark and its connection to the world of the dead and the living. In it, the dawn of the day was interpreted as the rebirth of life and its renewal. That is why eclipses were so important for all primitive and ancient cultures: When the sun disappeared in broad daylight, they predicted that eclipses would bring about great changes, or that even in the worst case, the world could come to an end. Maria Franz's dress takes various types of Viking attire, being added by the singer several ornamental strips of the mane of a white horse. Her headdress is Siberian. Christopher Juu, meanwhile, wears historically correct Viking clothing.

The last scene of this video always evokes my emotions. To me the entire story culminates in that final scene. To my mind what's happening is she is embracing her destiny and no obstacles will stop her from achieving that destiny even if it means charging head first through everything to her future like a bull. Just my interpretation. I'm probably wrong but it's what I feel.

Yes, I agree!! She sacrificed her 'self' in small human form to merge with a being OF the land, to become one with her destiny, a spirit of nature/Earth. It's like giving ourselves to our passion or mission in life and having it live on as something bigger than you could ever physically be. And you can tell there's so much going on in her mind and heart.. as she became a woman, there was a presence of raw determination, yet she knew something daunting and heavy was waiting for her. The song is absolutely stellar, and the filming of the video was expertly done.

Wiking was a job description, not a matter of heredity, they were also farmers, traders and blacksmiths, but armor and weapon makers, carpenters, stone carvers, jewelry makers, bead makers, bone and antler carvers, cup makers, potters, weavers, and amber dealers. Raiding is what they are known for. So a lot of other important things they have done gets pushed to the side.

I once experienced a Wiccan Mabon ritual some years ago. The ritual takes place after dark with in a circle of up to 13 and around a bon fire. Chants are mostly in Celtic tribal language and honoring the god and goddess figures of masculine and feminine. Celebration of life through nature and spiritual healing are key practices of Wiccans. Native American traditions are similar as well.

I love the animal totem theme in this video. The animal does not accept her challenge as a little girl in the forest because she’s not ready. The challenge she faces as an adult is dangerous, reflecting the belief many of our ancestors had that animal totems aren’t just a protective, got-your-back force, but are wild and uncanny. Love it!

The language is proto-norse-. It was spoken during the migration periode in scandinavia. Its pre-viking era. This is what the band says aboiut the song. They also added some "kulning" around 4:43, which is a swedish herding call. THink of it liuek the swedish "Yoddeling" They probably used it in norway aswell. But I can only speak for sweden though. "The lyrics for this piece are mainly taken from bracteates: golden, circular coins or amulets found in Northern Europe that date from the 4th to 7th centuries CE. In "Anoana", the listener has the chance to delve into a collection of likely encoded spells from the Migration Period and get a touch of magic from the Dark Ages. The intention of the piece is to playfully reconnect to an incantational language of a period where the North was richer in gold than any other region. Our forefathers presumably enjoyed a time of great prosperity and it may make us rethink how dark these ages really were." If you would like to hear more kulning. Check out Jonna Jinton. Its fascinating to see that this herding calls actually works aswell. The cows listen to it. kzread.info/dash/bejne/faqotpWOqcvPkrQ.html

My dad was diagnosed with Parkinson's in 1991. By 2005, it had really started affecting his mobility and motor skills. He had two different brain procedures which helped a bit. Eventually my mom started looking into different modes of therapy. She took him to a guy that specializes in acupuncture and other forms of eastern medicine. He started doing reiki along with acupuncture. This also help with his mobility. The most interesting thing was my dad had a scar on his thigh from a bullet fragment that hit him when he was a kid. After a few sessions of reiki, the scar went away. There's just so much we don't know (and a lot of people don't want to know) about the energy flowing through our bodies and how it can be used.

The bards have always woven great secrets into unsuspecting pieces of music. They leave little breadcrumbs leading us to a greater truth. Not always, of course. Some lead us to be dancers to a discordant system. There are tales as old as we are of people that can heal themselves and others. Those tales get disregarded as myth and are replaced with synthetic perversion. The only place I've ever felt the presence of a "God" is within myself and among the living trees and plants and animals. We lost the main plot a long time ago, but it makes me happy to see more and more people connecting to this group and understanding that we are missing something in this "matrix" we've created to make ourselves feel better.

Great reaction, you really let yourself be absorbed. Can I just add some points that are important in seeing this? The most important being that the child is born under an eclipse (seen in background several times). According to previking believs they had very special gifts: hamnskifte (= the ability to change appearance), age shift, talking to animals, healing (of the bird) etc The previking time and it's religion in nordic countries is much more female directed than the religion in the later years (viking gods like Tor and Oden... ). Also healing = heilung in the german name of the band. They sing in a reconstructed version of the previking proto norse language....(and the runes at the endjust spell out ANOANA)

The circle represents life's connection to all things the spiral life's endless connection to all things. We are born so another can die we die so another can be born and each life is connected to other lives that to are born and will die and so on endlessly

Ano Ana means Mother Nature in ancient Germanic languages. In the video, a solar eclipse can be seen before the child is born. Children born during a solar eclipse received special gifts from Mother Nature. Control of time, communication with animals and power over death. Later in the video you can see a lunar eclipse, I think this is probably the time when she has to give her gifts back to nature. Perhaps the aurochs is the totem of the tribe to which she then returns the gifts.

There's no direct translation for this, the words come from ceremonial coins or discs forged from gold given by the roman empire as a tribute to the germanic tribes so they wouldn't cross the Rhine and invade. (see the tv show Barbarians about how the germans defeated roman invaders). The albumn is supposed to be a story of of Anoana - the warrior of the land, and I can't wait to hear it.

There is only 1 human in the video. First half girl and woman wear white. 2nd half, both wear brown. First half, girl gets distracted by coin or medallion on the ground and picks it up. Wraps her hand around it "acceptance" "carried the weight". The bird represents enlightenment. She died, only in the revelation of death did she embrace the weight of the distraction from an early age. The bird flies, you see a babe in swaddling cloth, then a new girl in brown, who does not fall to the same distraction but instead, woman in brown, charges boldly to face her obstacles no matter how great the perception of that obstacle may be. The scene fades to black for the viewer to decide. The woman is victorious by virtue of her enlightenment and decision to do so by moving forward. Every human makes bad decisions. You either allow them to corrupt you and drag you down in failure. Or you accept it, take ownership of it, learn from it, and obligate yourself not to repeat it thereby gaining victory over your inner obstacles....or demons as some may call them. But I'm not preaching from on high. As every living human knows, it's easier said than done.

One of the FEW (atm, the only one) who got (my opinion) the hidden meaning of the video. Nature, birth, death, the double nature within human being etc. BUT if this COULD be the hidden meaning, I guess that the "plot" of the story in this video is more about Magic. You see, the birth under "their" magical action, the connection between the "witch" and Anoana, the eclipse that is at birth time and during the last "sabba", etc. Anyway, good guessings Jay.

They may have been incantations/spells of sorts for safe travels for instance.

In this day and age where portions of society are very anti-white and claim "white people have no culture"....it's really nice to see open minded people such as yourself reacting to the celtic/viking/Germanic ancestral history. I think the show "Vikings" does a great job in breathing new life and appreciation into this particular part of history. Just to be clear, being proud of your ancestry and where you come from isn't wrong in ANY way....no matter what color your skin is. It's when people claim to be superior that a problem arises, or when people disrespect and belittle others for their unique ancestral heritage.

The new video for 'Anoana' describes the combo with the following words: "In 'Anoana' the listener has the chance to delve into a collection of presumably encoded spells from the migration period and to experience a touch of magic from the Middle Ages. The goal of this Part of it is a playful revisit of a summoning language from a time when the North had more gold than any other region. Our ancestors probably enjoyed a time of great prosperity, and maybe that makes us think again about how dark those times really are were."

I think Portia Davenport's comment below is a much better interpretation - thank you. I agree with your interpretation! The last part of the woman and the animal charging towards each other kinda signifies humans as a whole having a superiority complex against nature when we are in fact a natural part of it. When she was younger, she seemed to be more connected with nature and free spirited but as she matured, she lost her innocence and connection because she tried to fight against her being as a natural part of nature.

Tell your mother that Christianity is the mixing of Paganism and Roman Catholicism. Every Christian holiday is actually based on Pagan holiday or practice even Christmas. Instead of trying to conquer the pagan tribes of the north the British Empire started adapting pagan holidays and rituals into Christianity as to transition the Pagan tribes and absorb them into society without anymore wars and violence. Eventual over time it worked and pure Paganism was phased out and replaced by modern Christianity. Basically if you are a modern day Christian you are more of a Pagan than you think.

I think this song is about territory. When the child sees a moose in the woods, she salutes them, asking their permission to stay in the area because it's their territory. At the end when she has grown up, she was in age to claim her own territory and that's what she did in the end, in the way that horned beasts do, a challenge by showing who is the strongest.
