Hebrew cursive handwriting - full sentence

This is a video of a full sentence being written in Hebrew cursive at three speeds: slow, fast, faster. The first attempt is very neat and is more representative of childlike or beginner-level handwriting. The second two attempts are more representative in terms of what decent, everyday handwriting looks like.
The sentence is: כך התרסק נפץ על גוזל קטן, שדחף את צבי למים
It was chosen because it contains every letter in the Hebrew alefbet, including the five final forms.

    A good way to practice is to just write out whatever you are reading. Read הארי פוטר, for example, and write it out as you read it. Basically, copy a book you enjoy, and your handwriting should be dramatically improved by the end. To avoid burnout, first start by copying only a paragraph. If that's not so bad, then move on to a whole page. If you can handle copying out a single page, then copy more pages, then chapters, then the rest of the book. Good luck practicing.

    I’m lefty and I never thought about it 😅 but the things that always annoyed me since I was young were how our notebooks and pages are designed for right-handed(s?) where you have the space for your wrist if you’re right handed but if you’re left handed your wrist will “fall” off the paper when your reaching the end of the row… I suppose Americans have the same problem though…

    This is incredibly helpful to learn actual handwriting in the language! When you learn it just letter by letter you don't really get a feel for the scale of the single characters in the context of a word or a sentence. Really helps putting things into perspective. Thank you so much! !תודה

If we did 1 of these things before, it makes us sinner. If we continue to do these things or sinning, we will die in our own sins.We need to repent through Jesus, to make our relationship with GOD good again, because There will be a judgement day 1 day,The people who believe in Jesus Christ and follow his commands will enter the kingdom of GOD, but the people who don't believe in Jesus and done evil/bad things/sinners will enter Hell. Is there a script I can write tav only right to left, so I don't have to pick up the pen and go backward?

  • @TeachMeHebrew

    @TeachMeHebrew

    It's a pangram sentence, i.e., a sentence that contains all the letters of the alphabet. It's the Hebrew equivalent of "The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog". It's a hard sentence to translate, but it's something crazy along the lines of "so a blast crashed on the little chick, which pushed my turtle in the water". Israelis are intense, what do you want? :) The point of the video isn't the sentence itself but is rather a concise way to demonstrate handwriting.

    It still looks WAY slower than when writing any language with Latin alphabets. Can anyone explain me if Hebrew is way slower to write even to a native speaker?

  • @TeachMeHebrew

    @TeachMeHebrew

    8 жыл бұрын

    +so20ver I would say it's not slower. Since we're speaking very generally, one could easily argue that languages like Hebrew and Arabic are actually faster to write than Latin-based languages because of the lack of written vowels. Shorter words and fewer letters to write = faster. Also, Hebrew generally uses less words to say the same thing in, say, English. For example, off the top of my head, "I will speak" in English is 10 letters and 3 words, but in Hebrew is "אדבר" (adaber) - only 4 letters and 1 word. This is the same for pretty much anything you can say in the future tense. "I will concentrate" is 16 letters and 3 words and the Hebrew equivalent (אתרכז) is 5 letters and 1 word. :) Finally, please keep in mind that this is just an instructional video and is meant to demonstrate how Hebrew words/letters look slightly different when written at different speeds. It is not meant to show general writing speed when writing spontaneously over a longer period of time.
