I studied Hebrew at Bangor University back in 1976; and, being left-handed, was absolutely delighted to find I could write it so easily!

@@Praise___YaH God is YHWH, and YHWH is God: but I follow the beliefs and testimony of the primitive Christians (including eye-witnesses to the 'Jesus event'), who were convinced that, in Jesus, they had experienced 'the divine'; and that - therefore - the entire salvation-history of the Hebrew People pointed to, and culminated in, Jesus of Nazareth. Isaiah is mentioned by name 13 times in the Gospels (6 in Matthew, alone), and 5 times in Paul; which conveys some notion of the reverence in which Isaiah was held, conmpared with the other 'writing prophets'. This also testifies to the 'Jewishness' of the primitive Church. Jesus of Nazareth was 'one of us'. Many Christians today appear to conceive of Jesus of Nazareth as the 'first Christian' (an impossibility, when you think about it). It is why I think the Church needs to return to the MAN who was so charismatic, so faithful to the will of the God he called 'Father', and reduce the emphasis on the later Greek 'Pantokrator', who presides from the apses of so many glorious ecclesiastical buildings.
Your use of the box and drawing with the chalk makes it so much easier to follow for us newbies. You are a very good teacher. Thank you.

@@timmcninch Excellent tutorial. The best part of your teaching? So many things! The consistent organization, detail, chalk writing. One thing would improve it: include the written word of your word pictures. The first letter (aleph) you use a woman and a nose. Nose is pretty clear, but the pic of the woman? No clue. Only on gimmel and the written word would be very helpful. Thanks for posting your lessons! Shalom.
The symmetry in Tim's teaching methods is outstanding. Within one day my wife and I were reading and writing Hebrew words - albeit slowly - and that with virtually no background in this alphabet or any previous knowledge. It was simply thanks to Tim's clear and comprehensible teaching. Thanks!

I am impressed with your teaching skills. You have an advantage over native speaking teachers, because you know how difficult certain aspects of the language can be. You are so good and made me understand more than most of the native teachers have, even though they were very knowledgeable. I am sorry to say that I missed one on the very first try. But all things considered, that is better than I thought I would have done. Keep the important, vital Hints coming. Those are precious gold nuggets for a English speaking students. Because of this video presentation, I just happened to see my 3-year-old boy sitting down and writing - of his own volition - the entire Hebrew alphabet. Thank you!

I was taught Hebrew Aleif-Beit by a native Israeli Sabra, and I noticed right away that the Reish is pronounced like the French and Germans do it, in the back of the throat, and NOT like the Spanish and Italians do it, trilling with the tip of the tongue. This is the BEST Aleif-Beit tutorial I have found.
