HEAVY HAULAGE - 300 Metric Tons of Steel on the Move | Full Documentary

Ғылым және технология

HEAVY HAULAGE - 300 Metric Tons of Steel on the Move - 20 and 18 meters long are the two industrial furnaces that the Austrian freight carrier Felbermayr is to transport from a ship berth on the Danube to an aircraft component company. The total weight of both furnaces of a good 300 tons is only one of many problems. The steel colossuses are almost seven meters high - too high to pass through most bridges or tunnels. An unsolvable undertaking?

    Ever since I was a little kid I've been seeing these documentaries on tv on the discovery and history Channel and now on the internet. Always translated beautifully and with just enough editing to make it very compelling. I have no idea why the effort was always made to show these In the west. But I really appreciate it! Whoever's decision that was years and years ago, to the point it is now just ubiquitous. Someone please thank that guy or gall for me!

  • @andrep8287

    @andrep8287

    11 ай бұрын

    @@polyfoamcoats1650 ...that's the only thing that annoys me with these very interesting programs: the narrators always dramatize everything. A word of advise to the producer, if I may: your episodes are impressive enough without artificially 'super-sizing' the presentation with useless words. The viewers are not blind, they can imagine themselves if something will be "touch & go" or a smooth ride. Last, but not least, the power-units in this episodes were not "tractors" and the multi-wheel transport units were not "semi-trailers". A tractor must have a 5th wheel in order to attach a semi-trailer, and the semi-trailer must have a king-pin which is used to hook into the tractor's 5th wheel, in order to transfer part of the load's weight on the trailing unit across onto the tractor. (the whole essence of a tractor/semi-trailer combination). The German word for a tractor/trailer is Sattelschlepper (i.e. a tractior with a saddle). The combinations in this story were "Towing trucks" hooked up to multi-wheel transporter full-trailers and/or self-propelled transporters. The difference is that the entire weight of the load rests on the full-trailers....none of it is transferred onto the Straight Truck. Thus....please train narrators to name components correctly in exchange for dropping the dramatization.

    No chopper in the world can lift weight that heavy. And if you're close to ports and airports road transport is the best option

    @@ajitsandhu74 hey are you nuts!!🤨 RUSSIAN Mi10-Mi 26, AMERICAN Chinook and black stallion,CHiNa, turkey, France have a chopper that can carry thousands kilograms/heavy tons of capacity!!! A chopper can be drop departing if theirs a big square space of place, as long as it's safe to take off..you don't need to find airport 😁

    Nobody makes drame, like the Germans... I used to transport 100 ton windmill/windturbine components, several times a week. Load time from start to ready to go. 22 minuts. People loading, Me = one (1). People needed to transport, two, one driver (mew) one pilot car. Driving in snow, easy in all the world. In Germany, deadly, so no transport allowed in snow. All world stop. Germany is just one big drama queen.

    And I'm sure you engineered the blades and assembled the turbine yourself also.
