Ronnie stated in numerous interviews that this was the best song he ever wrote he also stated that the song is about the ability of each human being to choose between doing good and doing evil; essentially, that each person has "heaven and hell" inside themselves.

I was 10 when I heard the self titled debut album from Sabbath...even then, in 1970, I knew I was going to be a rocker for life...I eventually became an FM radio jock, and my favorite station to work at was a classic rock station...right in my wheelhouse, and for 30 years, I played rock and roll to the multitude of listeners who knew the music front to back, and new converts to classic rock, "wow you guys had great bands back then" was one of my favorite drops, from listeners...that's why I'm drawn to these reaction video's especially the rock I grew up with, just to vicariously re-enjoy watching someone else discovering "our" music...hey...Rock ON!!!

Blue Oyster Cult's original manager (Sandy Pearlman) was hired and helped bring DIO from RAINBOW to BS. He also was the one who put the original 1981 "Black and Blue" tour (Black Sabbath and Blue Oyster Cult) on which they were performing this album.
