The Heat did the same with the Celtics, limit the ball movement especially with zone which also leads to heavy contests on 3s. Jokic also was exhausted him and his defense was lazy especially in the fourth. Nuggets as a whole were lost on defense, they weren’t in the same page. To be honest if it’s not for Jokic this Denver team is mediocre.

Jokic has no identity in defense in fact he is not on good on defense not a rim protector on center. He is lazy to move his feet and slapped alot instead of using his legthn. Look at how space he gave to Bam both on the post and pick and roll. That's has been the problem of Jokicna beast on offense but lazy on defense too slow. Bam has pro blems with Rob Williams and Randle or Robinson coz they are athletic on defense.

Interesting theory but I can't imagine Miama spotting Denver a double-digit lead on purpose. I think it's more likely that Spo and his assistants are making good adjustments at halftime based on how the first half is played. How Miami utilizes Bam in the first half of game three will be a good test of your theory. I do think that Miami IS saving the zone for the 4th quarter so that Denver doesn't have enough reps to figure it out. Love the channel!

I don’t think they’re intentionally going down double digits. I think they expect the role players to at least stay within striking distance. Spo is definitely baiting Jokic into becoming a scorer in the 1st and 3rd quarters. The Nuggets offense feeds off Jokic distributing the ball, so when he makes Jokic become a score first player at the start of the 1st and 3rd, by the time the 2nd and 4th Halle the Nuggets players outside of Jokic and Murray are completely out of rhythm so when they get shots they’re more likely to miss.

I'm assuming you haven't heard both Butler and Spol talk about how good Jokic's D is, otherwise you wouldn't have made this comment. The Heat won with a combo of stifling Jokic and Murry's two man game, MPJ ice cold from 3 and KCP committing fouls at the arc to hand Miami 6 points in two minutes. Brown and Braun both played bad D on the switch was also a factor late in the game and that's just a small portion of what Denver did wrong in game two. "Jokic's lack of D" as a path to a Heat win is far from accurate.

This is next level, 4d chess really. Intentionally force Bam into tough situations in the 1st half - and he is forced into it BY HIS OWN COACH/STRATEGY - in order to be able to switch it up and turn things around? This is insane. What coach realized here is fantastic, and there might be some other tricks up the sleeve of Spo which we may not even recognize. It's like Hannibal Barca at Cannae intentionally losing in the center, only to spring his master plan and master trap and turn it into the greatest victory world has ever seen seriously, an 8th seed beating so many great teams is no coincidence. This man is making magic in front of our very eyes. We probably haven't seen it since Pop was coaching great teams - perhaps also Carlisle in their 2011 finals run. Phil and Red and Kerr were/are relying on star players and great offensive schemes.

@BBALLBREAKDOWN - Great video coach. Whilst I appreciate the analysis I think it's a stretch to say that Spo tried a look which he knew would be inneffective just so he could zag. More likely, is that the heat are trying different looks and figuring out what works. They seem to have identified a weakness in Denver defense when they can force rotations from the 3-man (especially MPJ). The switch to bam handling the ball above the foul line enabled them to target the weak defensive link on swtiching actions and choose angles that engage the weakest defender on the floor. It also drags Joker up, creating room at the rrim for finishing and impacting his effectiveness on D-boards - All of this highlights that they are basically hunting MPJ's late closeouts and sloppy rotations. I expect his (MPJ) minutes to be reduced substantially as the series progresses, since he is not only making bad (lazy) decisions on D, but is completely one dimensional in offence. Once MPJ makes a catch, he's shooting it..

What-a-steal on the road! 💪 Coach Erik Spoelstra and the Heat are really good in adjusting things. Not to discredit Jimmy but Bam should be the highlighted headliner. He’s done his part these past 2 games!!! Heat defenders making life TOUGH on Jamal Murray, Michael Porter Jr and Kentavious Caldwell Pope 🥶 Coach Spoelstra adjusted well. They let JOKIC score and clamped everybody else. Brilliant gameplan. The Denver Nuggets are winless in these playoffs when Joker drops 40+ points 😮 Got to give Duncan Robinson credit Miami Heat culture means no matter who you are- undrafted benchwarmer or super-max superstar- if you’re on this team, you’re working. Robinson not only came back in these playoffs, he came back different. He learned how to attack closeouts, seek contact and create off the dribble. He’s no longer a 6’7” shooter. He’s now a 6’7” shooter, slasher and playmaker. It’s so incredibly rare for a player who crashed as hard as Duncan did to bounce back like this. And it’s almost unbelievable to do it on this stage.
