Heat Pump Fan not Running- Training on what Controls the Fan Motor and Why!

In This HVAC Heat Pump Video, I show you how 2 items in a Heat Pump that Control the Outdoor Fan Motor Working and Why. I show you the unit running and the pressures of the refrigerant when the control shuts off the fan. These items must be known in order to accurately troubleshoot a heat pump properly! Supervision is needed by a licensed HVAC Tech before doing this as Experience and Apprenticeship garners Wisdom and Safety.

    Can a fan cycle switch be installed on a heat pump split if you want to run cooling on a lower tempeture day? will it interfere with the other fan pressure switches? Like a Ranco 010-2054.

    Hey service tech, I just wonder how do you replace those types of High pressure switches, they are braze together with the lines, do you have to unbrazed and braze the new one or there is a different way, would you make a video if you are replacing one of those types one day. thanks and have a good day.

  • @acservicetechchannel

    @acservicetechchannel

    7 жыл бұрын

    I was thinking about doing a video on pressures and testing of those switches at some point. Yes you unbraze the short ones and replace with the new longer ones with the stubs, some are flare seals, some are threaded, and some already have long braze stubs on them. In the case of the long stubs you just swage the new one onto the old stub. Thanks eman3208!

    My heat pump has this exact problem, but when the unit is in cooling mode. Is the cause the same as in heat mode? Meaning is the unit not rejecting enough heat into the hvac duct work as a result of, say, a clogged filter, dirty evaporator coils, dirty condenser coils, etc?

  • @estupidoysensual5
    @estupidoysensual55 жыл бұрын

    Thank you! It's the only explanation of why the fan stops, besides the defrosting cycle, I've found on the internet. I would like to add that in split a/c units commonly used in Asia and L.A., the outdoor fan is controlled by a sensor on the indoor coil: when it gets "too hot" (I think it is like 50°C), then it cut the power. I think it's an extremely ineficient method, kind of reducing the eficiency when less heat is needed. I dont see new units with "A eficiency rating" stopping the outdoor fan.

    Good morning, how are you today. Now I have an EX 90 trane furnace. White-Rodgers board flashes 6 time. Said 115volts AC power reversed/improper ground. Does that mean my board need to be replace. Blowing only cold Air

  • @acservicetechchannel

    @acservicetechchannel

    5 жыл бұрын

    That means that you need to check your input 120v first. Check from hot to ground and you should have 120v. Then check common to ground and should be 0v, then check hot to common for 120v. The wires connecting the furnace could be reversed or there may also be a problem with the ground, thanks

    Hey so I've got a question for you. I have a fairly old Rheem heat pump and my contactor switch quit working...I couldn't find exactly the same switch so I ordered a 24v 30a switch from Grainger pn# 113ANA030000BEAA (witch had a noticably smaller coil for the switch) And had no luck. Replaced the defrost control board with Amazon pn# 47-21517-18. Which is supposed to be the "upgraded" version. Still no luck so I replaced my thermostat in the house with a Honeywell RTH2300B1038 and still had no luck. I know it's kind of a mis match of parts but I'm no electrician so maybe I'm putting on all of the wrong parts but I just can't seem to figure out what's going on. I've been running my ac by setting a piece of wood on the contractor and everything works perfect aside from nothing turning off. Any ideas? I'm guessing a broken wire somewhere

    Hello, it's Jimmy how are you doing. Does a flame sensor range are 3 to 10 micro amps? I have one that had 1.2 micro amps. Should I change or leave it ? Please let me know, have a bless night.

  • @acservicetechchannel

    So that sounds a little low if you were talking about a large flame rod. It wouldn't help to change it but just clean it. It isn' special, just a stainless steel rod with ceramic around it. You should make sure it has between 80-180v input read between the rod and the ground without a call for heat. It is always live unless it is on an odd control. Does it have intermittant problems. Does the flame engulf the rod. It the metal at the face of the retention head rusted or covered in soot? Thanks

    On a 2007 3-Ton Rheem Prestige heat pump with high pressure limit switches etc, design pressure low side says 250psi and high 550psi yet numerous techs stated that after repairs the system should be nitrogen pressure tested to 450psi. Any thoughts on this?

  • @acservicetechchannel

    @acservicetechchannel

    7 жыл бұрын

    The issue is that you shouldn't pressure test any higher than a low side design pressure. If the design pressure of the indoor unit is lower than what it would be running at in heat mode then that should not have been the coil specified.
