In this video I restore 200 year old rotten and eaten by woodworms chair that was in pieces when I found it. It looked like something that washed up on a beach rather than a piece of furniture...

As a professional furniture conservator in private practice for over 50 years, I want to say that I was impressed with your video, your humility and the results. I started watching this video because I thought the chair was beyond repair. You did a fantastic job. I feel your pain when the crest did not fit, but you solved the problem. And I appreciate your shot of the Old Brown Glue, which I developed and now sell internationally. My best wishes for future projects.

Old Brown Glue (hide glue) would have been a good choice for the other glued joints too (but not the repairs) , rather than polyurethane. I buy it here in Canada from Lee Valley.

What a nice thing to say to him. That must mean a lot coming from a professional. I too love that he tries so many different techniques. And it is because of this channel that I have seen your product and intend to purchase some for a restoration of a chest of drawers that I have had in storage for too long.

I was so impressed when you indicated that there were techniques you’d never done prior to this chair…we’d never know if we could be successful if we never try, right? My husband has done woodworking all his life and I’m very much a novice. He’s been teaching me tips and tricks, and how to use the technical equipment. What a joy to watch you work! Bravo! What you did with this chair is virtually a miracle, when I first saw it, I thought "What is he thinking", I thought maybe you were going to replicate it but you went a step further and made something out of this rotten, neglected chair....amazing....it looks great, you know the imperfections because you worked on it, they are not visible to us.....Take care...cheers !!!

Looking at the before picture and seeing the results of the final repairs, you should be so proud of your hard work. You turned this piece back to its former glory. If you had not taken this on, the chair would have ended up truly dead. You gave it back its life and, for that, you should be praised. Kudos to a job very well done!

When I saw the chair I said to myself, "no he's not going to try to restore it. It's too far gone. It would just be better to try to make a new one, if that's what he wants." But with the patience of Job and your exquisite talent you brought it back to life. I think that this is one of your most masterful works. You truly are a master.

Amazing display of skill, patience & understanding of the goods & materials you have to work with. This chair was firewood to 99% of people but, if the chair could thank you, it should thank you for being one of the 1% of people who look beyond what they originally see. You are an amazing man to watch as you apply your brilliant touch to yet another disaster & come up with an amazing restoration. It looks good enough for another 100 years. Hats off to you mate, cheers, Don from south Australia
