Zeppelin is famous for putting on a fantastic show. When he was young Robert Plant’s singing was notoriously hard to understand in live performances, but between Plant’s phenomenal vocal tones and Jimmy Page’s incredible improvisations in his solos they more than made up for the muddy lyrics.

@@lyndoncmp5751 No it doesn't. When performed live lots of parts are left out (natural of course for a 4 piece band) and lots of nuance from the studio version is simply not there. @@1ouncebird I read both comments yours and the person to whom you replied. It has been so much better for myself to listen to the studio version first (yes they are polished and massaged so to speak for maximum artistic qualities) then go to a live version or even go to a concert. Sometimes but rarely the live version is so raw and in the moment that it beats the studio version..VERY RARE! It is also fun to see musicians at their greatest artistic creativeness. About the only musicians that were great live that I recall was Peter Frampton and ELP Emerson Lake and Palmer. I always wanted to see Led Zep or The Doors or The Who, but it did not happen🙃🙂🙄😞😣😖 i AM GLAD YOU SAID WHAT YOU SAID

@@1ouncebird I'll repeat, the live version here blows the studio version out of the water. It has MORE going on. Jimmy's solo isn't in the studio version, and Bonham's drumming is on another level. Zeppelin often improved on the studio versions live. Prime examples are Dazed And Confused and How Many More Times. As Jimmy Page himself once said "often the studio version was just a starter. We took them somewhere else on stage". Immigrant Song is a case in point. It just has more ommph, more balls. It rocks way harder here.

Why stop at the first four? Houses of the Holy and Physical Graffiti are just as great. Physical Graffiti is probably their best overall as it also has excellent leftover songs from earlier years. Presence and In Through The Out Door also have some great moments.

Nice language learning!... You're all over that girl!!! The album/radio version was quite short... Maybe one of their shortest songs ever, so this extra jam portion at the end is a treat! I think Jack Black just comes at everything with a sense of playfulness and fun and not meaning anything : )

I'm so glad you're enjoying them. They really are such a rich part of music history. They influenced most if not all of the major musicians out there now. Jimmy Page, the guitarist, got the band together and pretty much ran things. He kept Robert Plant (the singer)'s ego in check when he got too big for his britches and would start soloing over Plant's vocals to signal for him to shut up. There are a few videos of them live in concert where they do this amazing thing where Robert will vocalize and Jimmy will play to match him in tone as a harmony. It's beautiful to watch.

“On we sweep with threshing oar. Our only goal will be the Western shore.” People have claimed that Led Zeppelin wrote the Immigrant Song about the Vikings arriving to North America around 500 years before Columbus. I doubt that’s why they wrote it but still an awesome song!

Imagine being a kid, teenager, or young adult in 1970. You go to your local Record Store and bring home Led Zeppelin III to put onto your turntable for the very first time? The first song was "Immigrant Song" lol. What an amazing shock that would have been. I came to the camp 7 years later to hear that song for the first time, I was eight years old at that time. Great reaction when you said Well that was really high, that's Robert Plant for ya.

The first LZ song I heard was Stairway to Heaven. I was instantly hooked. They have such a variety of songs, each very different in a lot of different styles but each is recognizable as Zeppelin if that makes sense. When I was younger I liked mainly the music. As an adult I appreciate the lyrics and meanings of the songs more. Probably my favorite LZ lyrics are from Thank You: “And so today my world it smiles Your hand in mine we walk the miles Thanks to you it will be done For you to me are the only one” Glad you are discovering them and I hope you enjoy them as much as I have.
