Gleason would later say it never mattered who played Alice and Trixie, only he and Art Carney made the show, but I disagree. Audrey made an enormous contribution to the way the show worked. Joyce, the only surviving cast member- she's approaching 100- never got much of a chance.

This show sure brings back good memories. An old small broken down black & white T.V. at the foot of of my bed. I grew-up with my grandparents, and my grandfather ALWAYS referred to my grandmother as the 'boss'; "the boss is whistling 'Dixie' he'd always say when dinner was ready. These people were poor but they were happy. It seems people today can't manage 'happiness' irregardless of how 'non'-poor they are. There's more than laughter to be gleaned from the 'Honeymooners' I think.

That evening our 7-member family watched the live Jackie Gleason Show, with The June Taylor Dancers and the Jackie Gleason Orchestra, under the baton of Ray Block! After Gleason's enthusiastic introduction he always said, "AND AWAAAY WE GO", while sashaying stage right. The Honeymooners was a major and quite popular segment of this variety show.
