This was when men ordered women around like slaves. This was when women earned less than men. This was when women were verbally and physically abused and men got away with it. Oh yeah, good times for women. There was no reason for Ralph to come home barking and bellowing and ordering people out. He could have taken a nap before dinner.

No. He did not walk into the scene too early. He needed to be there for when Alice stormed off into the other room for Gleason to make a smooth transition by turning his attention to him. Otherwise, it would have been awkward for him to enter right as Alice was leaving.

Jackie Gleason never rehearsed. The others did but he didn't. He said it spoiled his spontaneity. The creators of The Flintstones always said that Fred and Barney were a direct carry over from Ralph and Norton. Without The Honeymooners there would never have been The Flintstones.

Gleason at his best! The writers were sensational....after the first 39 episodes, the writers could not come up with the magic and Gleason felt the scripts were weak. He pulled the plug on the Honeymooners for the next 10 years or so. But those 39 are the very best in comedy and in my opinion #1 and watched over and over because they are just so entertaining.
