Head Gravity Tour Review by Gladiators

Спорт

Is this the last variation of the Gravity? I think it is. The Hrad Gravity Tour, a racket that lays somewhere in between the Pro and the MP. Though plays way more like the pro. Great control combined with an awesome feel, a noticeable power, and relatively accessible spin. Oh yeah, it still has that massive sweet spot! Wondering whether or not this racket is going to fit you? Watch our review till the end to find out.

I came across this frame because I read it was supposed to be quite comfortable, plush racket. Areg saying the exact opposite makes me confused haha. @@gladiatorstribe Hey Grish, after a while playing with the Gravity Pro, I realized that I can’t really use it for a whole 3-set match (need to get gud)🤣, I am looking back at the Gravity Tour again sadly because the Boom Pro was a little disappointing, just a little 🤫. Just looking at the specs, it has 61 RA, 305g, pretty balanced, relatively low swing weight, not sure how is it tough and stiff to the arm but the Ezone didnt bother you esp the Ezone 100 has a 69 RA. I get that the numbers don’t tell the entire story so I’d like to ask why you think so. Thanks! 😅

    I have to disagree on nearly everything you're saying lol. The GT is one of the softest rackets I have ever played with (I demo 10-15 rackets a year). I disagree that the GT has more power than the Pro. The Pro has so much more SW that it outweights the thicker beam of the Tour. Also the Tour is about 6-7 Points softer on the RA scale, that absorbs a lot of power from the ball because the racket flexes more. Stability-wise I agree, nothing beats the Pro there. Serves and slices are also better on the Pro. For me on the forehand and backhand the Tour is the clear winner thanks to its whippier nature (lower SW). So in contrary to what you said at the beginning, the Tour IS a great racket for someone who cannot handle the pro for 3 sets (like me).

  • @petershort936
    @petershort9362 жыл бұрын

    The gravity tour is not a stiff racquet. What you both felt, however, is the swing weight. Head's quality control issues will often bring the tour close to the pro in terms of sw. If the Tour is at 330 sw and is more head heavy than the Pro, your arm is going to feel it.

    It doesn't have a high stiffness rating you're right. Tho it's not the swingweight that bothered us. Both of our rackets have way higher swingweight. The fact that it's not stiff and has an 18x20 string pattern makes it hard to accelerate and makes you apply more effort.

    I have some arm issues. From tennis to golfers elbow, and then my tendoins... For past 8 months or so, I have cured all of those with Head Gravity + thin string (1,15). I highly doubt that this racket is stiff. It is not. But 1,3mm strings + Head QC... That would be probably the cause of stiffness in your case.

  • @gladiatorstribe

    @gladiatorstribe

    That is a pretty extensive experience you've had. Sorry for it being so negative and long. We've played with over 30 rackets in the last year, most of them using this string. Comparing all of them we can say for sure that the Gravity Tour isn't the softest on the arm.

  • @LarzB

    @LarzB

    2 жыл бұрын

    Yeah, Head QC is very off last few years. I had 2 gravity pro's with a swing weight over 343, which should have been closer to 335. And I had a gravity mp which was way under spec. Wilson is also very bad with QC I noticed. Dunlop seems to be always under spec. Prince and Yonex seem to be the best at QC at the moment.

    I'm down to 3 in my demo and the GTour is definitely amongst that, with the 20 Ezone 98 & 21 VCore 98. I'm torn. 🤣 But, not on this channel. Great content gentleman! One thing I've noticed is that it may not have as much free power as the Ezone or VCore, but having that larger sweet spot (much like the Yonex racquets) enables me to get more consistent power across the volume of my shots. Though a power racquet with a tight pattern, I found the extreme tour punishing on off centre hits. So it's free power in my hands was not effective. The Gravity is very much what the designers say it is. Thats pleasing, but the battle continues.

    I own a pair of Gravity Tours and I would describe them as anything but stiff...! Quite the opposite, I think the flex a LOT. Also, it shouldn't be too different from the Pro in that sense. I'm a bit puzzled here. But I do get your comments in that it being so flexy, you have to apple more force into it and the arm takes a beating. What bothers me with the GTour is how hard it is to lift low balls when you're on defense, and how it's not too maneuverable with that odd-shaped head. But these things are also the case with the Pro, which I've also tried. Lastly, would be so interesting for you to compare this one to the VCore Pro 100. Lot's of great comments on that one and this is a direct comparison. Ah and also to the Prince Phantom 100X which is also a direct comparison. That one is tremendously flexy, but with a nice stiff poly at low tension it's pretty awesome! Sorry for the long message lol

    Totally get what you mean. We should probably change our phrasing. What we mean is that the arm suffers from all the effort. Not that the racket itself is stiff. Those rackets, we would love to review them. The Vcore Pro 100 should happen pretty soon.

    For intermediate players, it is going to be a bit easier to accelerate the lighter version than the heavier Pro. So yes!

    Is this racquet really as stiff as it was mentioned by Areg? Many others pointing that the racquet is one of the most arm-friendly racquets on the market.

    I kept expecting the punch line with Areg "joking" about the stiffness of the Gravity Tour. You *really * thought it was stiff?? My 2019 copy is so noticeably flexible (it's rated at 61 RA) that I've added lead almost everywhere to try to limit the flexing. Did you guys string extra tight?

  • @gladiatorstribe

    😂😂😂 Nope strung it like always. Low stiffness rating. That's one of the things that causes a rough feel. Gotta apply more effort to shoot the ball out. You know?

    It's the least stiff racquet I've played with. Maybe the stiffness is because you've strung it pretty tight.

    So, is it an arm killer ? (Maybe you could add a not for comfort😉) I played with thé mp in the past but it lacked stability and Wonder about thé tour but if it s an arm killer, i ll stay with my blade.

  • @gladiatorstribe

    Adrenaline is a pretty soft string. It doesn't have a high stiffness rating. Tho it feels stiff to play with it. You have to apply more power to launch the ball and when the racket comes in contact with the ball, the string pattern doesn't help with softness.

    @@gladiatorstribe I have a gravity pro and I have played with the mp. I cannot imagine the tour version is soo much different to the other two. The 2 I have tried extensively and the pro that i still have are flexible but without too much dampening, so you get good feedback. The only way for me to kill the softness of the racket is to put the wrong string and or tension in it. Generally I don't like a tension above 22kg in a denser string pattern. Then the bed starts to become boardy. Regardless which poly you put in it. So if you feel like it is stiff, that can only be a result of the low amount of dampening in the racket in combination with a too stiff string setup. Then the feedback of the racket will give you vibrations of that stiff stringbed. But that doesn't mean the racket is stiff
