I’m on my 6th and 7th Alfa . Currently have a GT JTDm and a 88 Sprint Green Cloverleaf which was bought as a part finished project. I’ve daily driven it for the last 12 months . I now daily my GT so I can keep the miles down on the Sprint. Although the GT has a 147 Tipo code , it actually shares the longer 156 Sportwagon platform. Another interesting fact with the 147/156/GT is that the rear multi link suspension was roughly derived from the Lancia Integrale

I'v owned around 20 cars in my life and Alfa GT is definitely the most enjoyable of them to drive. Even that car is 19 years old, it's better to drive than my 2012 Mercedes C w204 was. Gonna keep that GT as my secondary / summer / cruising car as long as it runs.

Ive had my GT for almost 10 years. 1.9JTDm version. Has been solid, I dont do many miles its a 2006 on about 94,000 miles. I had it remaped about two weeks after getting it. Still looks very modern even by todays standard in my eyes. The car was one owner, he bought another GT the later model 1.9 with 170bhp. Mine is around 185bhp after the remap, not sure why he didnt just do that haha. I am hoping I can keep it until its 20 years old. The rust is what will kill mine though being in the UK with all the rain and salt on the roads in winter.

I to owned a GT, cloverleaf. An amazing car. I also had a 166 3ltr and a156 t spark. I loved each one of them. I find that people who knock them have never owned one. They are so individual, almost Human. You have a great passion for these fantastic Italian cars. Long may it last.

Loved the story. Thanks for that. Also owned a GT 1.9 jtd that had to sell when family grown. Sold it around 270000 km in almost mint conditions. Of course timely and credible maintenance was always done to it. Like full timing belt kits, replacement of full distribution hammer and touches. Turbo was remade and fitted with upgraded core. Suspensions was fully upgraded with racing versions of the wishbones struts and with a full eibach pro-kit suspension (coils and dampers) which by consequence had to make some calculations and rework the suspension sleeves to achieve proper camber on 4 wheels to avoid destroying the tires 😅. Intercooler lines had also to be remade because ori tubes were always swallowing and breaking (issue knows by Alfa bur always avoiding supporting or changing this) as so bought some rally 4 layers tubes and some exhaust pipes to remake the complete lines. More smaller stuff was made which at the end ensure a very reliable car, more comfortable and dynamic then stock. Also because of a small front crash decided to replace the front bumper with the GTA version one which think gave the GT an even better look. Hope this also helps in some way 😊 Safe trips and enjoy them in the Alfas. Cheers.

Nice video, I also own a GT, a 6spd manual V6 one. It is very unlike other cars and with some light mods it can be a very capable car in terms of performance and still retain a lot of practicality and comfort. I've always liked unusual or overlooked cars and most Alfas tend to fit that category.

I have had 147 Lusso 1.6 Twin Spark and Giulia Tecnica 2.2TD. I'm looking at another Alfa Romeo soon, maybe GTV or GT with 2.0TS or 3.2 V6

I own a red GT 1.9 jtd with 185.000km. I am taking care of it as much as I can. I did major rust protection underneath and I changed the timing belt, the tensioners, the serpentine belt, the whole front subframe including brand new wishbones upfront and other components of the suspension. Brand new summer tires. The car is very nice to drive and after one year ownership I am still excited when I get inside of it. Also the jtd engine pulls quite nice.

In what way because old cars are expensive or because its saying "I dont need a new car to make people think ive got money"?

That is huuuge milage for a twin spark so no wonder you've had issues, but other than that I'd say they're great engines if maintained properly

I used to drive Mercs and BMWs but when I got a Lexus I realised that German cars are very unreliable and expensive to fix.

Alfas are for sick people. I myself am a carguy and I have appreciation for most of the car manufacturers, but I could not imagine not having an Alfa in the garage- those things are so flawed and yet so emotional, they are like living creatures.
