    Bummer about the damage. But the GT is so underrated when it comes to the Alfas of that era. Rarely talked about but quite unique.

    Money pit motors unfortunately been there done that. Beautiful to look at but, on all versions petrol and diesel ....... cambelts, swirl flaps, door handles, sills, ( sodden sound deadening material) the horrors of rear shock collapse, gear shift linkage , front wishbones, antiroll bars and every bush, misfires, clutch and dual mass expense, injectors, batteries dying due to alarm drainage, non working electric windows , not easy to reverse even with sensors of which at least one won't work. Front seat tilt release cable breakage, non working windscreen wash due to coiled pipe, etc etc, you'll need a second mortgage as an owner. Apart from all that they are great !!!!

    For a low mileage V6 and even taking into account the accident damage, he probably paid a fair price. Those alloys are shocking, though - it looks like they've spent a few years in the sea!!

    Don't think its too bad personally. Its 18yrs old, and its almost half of the going price of V6 GTs. Yes some bits to sort, but I'm sure the owner knew that going in to the sale hence paying far less. A lot of it is superficial and can be rectified as funds allow. Great video btw 👍🏻

    To be honest, I don't think it's that bad. The car is nearly 20 years old. The GT 3.2 I got rid of nearly 10 years ago, on the same year plate, was a lot worse. My wheels had also corroded like that and my floor pan was a mess! I think the car is a fixer upper, if you can sort the engine management light.

    I've owned Alfas for more than 40 years and I've loved and cherished every one.Would'nt have gone anywhere near that, how did the customer miss that damage?May sound silly but anyone who lets their alloys get into that state sets my alarm bells ringing off the scale.

    Definitely worth the price. Not a bad shape in general. I have the same car with the 1.9 jtd and 204.000km on the clock. Bought it with 177.000 two years ago. Everything works perfectly, engine doesn't consume oil, no errors on dashboard. The only thing that broke was the driver window control module fitted on the door, and I got a spare one from junkyard for 50 euros. Other thing was the airbag coming on occasionally because of the weak connection in the wires beneath the seats. I got the connectors tightened and I have no issues with that. Amazing how reliable is this car. I didn't expect that when I was buying it.

    Good to see you back, I`ve not had you in my suggested videos for aaaages.. Nasty surprise for the owner, he obviously didnt take anyone with him to inspect it when he got it.. Looks like an £500 special from copart followed by a bare minimum backstreet "repair". Is it showing on a HPI check? I wonder how much damage is behind the filler on the sill.. On the up side, it looks relatively recent, so in theory it shouldn't be too rusty behind the filler.. I`d also like to see how much damage is behind that front bumper cover.

    Whoever did that body work/repair, never did it before. That’s unprofessional work and it is a shame for this nice car. However, that car is 18 years old and is a wonderful Busso with a good interior. The owner should spend in good maintenance and body work/repair now. A professional paint rework/polishing can also help to bring some shine back for less money. Okay, the wheels need a replacement, maybe with used ones.

    New wing, front bumper, sill, wheels and paint? Hopefully the inner front end structure isn’t deformed by the bump it’s had. Think the buyer paid over the odds though - I’ve seen similar mileage 1.8T-sparks and 2.0JTS (remember the V6 costs a lot more to tax, so doesn’t necessarily commend a premium selling price) for under £4k. Hope the owner decides to have a proper job repair and not just another bodge done!

There wasn't any corrosion (Australia is pretty kind on that front) but after 20 years and 250,000km, there was plenty of kerb rash and peeling paint. I had a 147 gta. It’s a lovely thing, but Neil’s right. The weight of the engine in the nose of a small car is quite noticeable. I tried upgrading the suspension with the Autodelta system. That improved the ride but you can’t run away from physics. The car still felt like the roll centre was too high whereas I wanted the car to feel low and keyed in to the road. I suspect the engine works better in a larger car where the balance is better. As I say, the 147 gta is fab, but I never did get comfortable with the handling. If I get another Busso, it will try the GT or 156. Or better still, a 75…

    Ok, it is almost 20yo, but how is possible all that corrosion, even on the wheels? Sorry if it may be obvious to you, but I'm writing from Italy and never seen such corrosion on a modern car. I owned a 147 for 17 years (270.000km), and when I changed it there were no rust under the car or near the glasses, or the wheels (just few small scratches) or in any other place. Just a little bit of superficial corrosion on the most delicates parts under the car, but way less than that GT. To me, see a modern car so corroded... is puzzling.

  • @lukeeastwood
    @lukeeastwood8 ай бұрын

    Not really that bad at all. Any old car will have a few dents and bashes! The sills are a problem on the GT so this is not bad at all, you really can't expect perfection unless it has been garaged by an obsessive. For the price it was was well worth it, not too expensive to put it right.

    Poor car! It has low mileage but the first owner didn't care of her at all! Mine has 182.000 km and it looks way better allaround. I also have problems with the sills because they have been changed poorly by the previous owner. The rust comes from inside because the idiots didn't protect it correctly! This is why when you want to buy a car you need to take someone that knows where and how to look. He payed way too much for it!

    Not even 60K miles. But it looks like it has 260K miles. The engine looks horrible. My brothers 166 3.0 engine with almost 200K looks so much better. And his car is from 99. Also so much dirt underneath. Looks like it was a farmers car and drove around the farm. Really bad conditioned car for it's milage. I do love those cars. But this one needs a lot of TLC.

    So what do you call a car? 😀

    Absolutely shocking that he/she paid £4700 for that. The customer obviously went in blindfolded and didn’t check the car over. Mechanically it sounds ok, but I would have thought that’s going to cost £3000+ to rectify all the rust, welding, replacement wing and front bumper plus respray. A set of jetfins or any 18s are £500.And then there’s the Cambelt change and service. I’d be absolutely gutted and furious.
