Beterbiev is a Spartan. He has that relentlessness to his style that makes him very hard to discourage. He sets his face like flint and keeps coming forward. If I was limited to just one light-heavyweight on my P4P list, it would be Beterbiev rather than Bivol. Artur's record has been tougher, yet his results have been more emphatic. (Not that KOs are everything, but Bivol hasn't had a knockout in his last 9 fights, about six years.) Against common opposition--Joe Smith Jr.--Bivol won a decision, Beterbiev crushed him in 2 rounds. Beterbiev has three belts, Bivol has one. Bivol's on the P4P list because he won a dominant decision against a past-his-prime, bridge-too-far Canelo. Period. I think Beterbiev--even at 39--is a better fighter than Bivol and he's accomplished more.

Yep, I was surprised just the same as you Paulie, I thought Callum Smith would fare a lot better than he did in the fight! . . . Beterbiev is very good at staying disciplined, sticking to his boxing and that combined with just the constant heavy power on every single one of his accurate concussive blows is what seems to invariably wear guys down. Anybody who engages openly and attempts to trade shots with Beterbiev just gets systematically ground down due to accumulated damage and then taken out routinely with a few jarring shots at the end when they are war weary from already having absorbed too much punishment in the fight. Beterbiev is just a very deceptive fighter all around, he's physically fitter and stronger even than he looks whilst also being similarly better both technically and defensively than he looks to be . . . plus he punches with serious power and that frighteningly consistent power of his does'nt seem to fade much as the rounds wear on either, scary stuff indeed! Dmitry Bivol is the only guy right now who I believe might have the key to unlock and bring down Beterbiev's seemingly invincible aura . . . I predict Bivol doing somewhat better at handling Beterbiev over the distance than Gvozdyk managed, but that's really as far as I'd go with that because Beterbiev has more than proven his pedigree and pound for pound elite credentials now. 🎯👊💯

Modern boxing society has changed, they are the problem. Listen to Eddie Hearn call Beterbiev inhuman, he is actually pointing out the testosterone test, and making excuse. There is nothing inhuman when a normal great fighter whips ass on a lower-level opponent. We got used to the dancers, the runners, the so-called defensive fighters with ring generalship that are scared to hurt their pretty faces, so they run around jab sling, and cherry pick opponents. Thinking back to the past, the real true great fighters, were all fighters who went in to fight, engaged, got cuts, black eyes, busted noses, etc. Beterbiev, Bivol, Canelo, Golovkin where these kind of fighters. They go into the eye of the storm and get it on. They get hit, they get bloody. But nowadays, when somebody gets hit, "Oh we exposed him",..hahahaha what a stupid society. Beterbiev went in there like any serious real genuine fighter went forward and got it on. He doesn't go in run around hide, scared to lose his title, he works, until he catches somebody. They also blame the ring size..bahloney with that. He fought Yarde, Joe Smith, and other real gunslingers. And at no time does he hide and wait for that lucky punch. For this reason, he gets hit, he gets hit in the face, the body, that's what happens with real fighters. Callum Smith is a real fighter, he doesn't run around either, he goes in and gets it on. "But" he is just not in that high caliber ranking. Canelo almost tore his arm off. He said, "Oh Beterbiev was the better man tonight". What a bullshitter. That is a good line they all use when they lose. If that's the case he is saying he will never be "the better man", because Beterbiev has been the better man for twenty fights. Callum Smith just lost some honor with that stupid excuse. And don't blame the ring size. These guys will knock your ass out, you will hit them, and the announcer will scream "Oh he connected",..hahaha, yeah right. And of course, they are fighters, and it's all about who connects best. I tell you what Beterbiev and Bivol get hit, even get wobbled, but they also "connect". One day Beterbiev will run into a fighter and will go the full twelve rounds, and then what? All the rooty poots will come out, "he lost his power he is old, no good he got exposed". Like Canelo he hadn't knocked anybody out then Charlo showed up, he put his ass down for a count, then Charlo made it up and ran for the rest of the fight. So now they say Canelo is washed up because he didn't lay out Charlo, who is a good hider, he hid the rest of the fight. Beterbiev is the real deal. Marvin Hagler was the same, he was great but got hit, bloody, and still whipped ass, even Rocky Marciano had a busted-up nose and cauliflower ears. Everybody wants to be Mohammad Ali, dance, and do the shuffle, but even Mohammad Ali went into the storm and got hit. Fighting is a bloody physical sport, and to be great you better not be scared to engage and get it on. Hurrah!!!! for Betterbiev, the real deal.

I agree with most Paulie but I disagree about Bivol having better legs over Beterbiev. Beterbiev showed that impressive movement last night. He closes the distance in a flash when he chooses. They just go about their craft differently. This guy is the true boogeyman of boxing.

I'd really like to know what size the ring was for the Yard fight, I think the 18x18 ring against Smith really meant Beterbiev didn't have to think about leg fatigue as any factor in the fight so could pretty much do as he pleased. Don't get me wrong he still would have won and as they won the purse bid they had every right to set the ring size but I don't think the Smith Camp had any thought that it might be that small until the night before and obviously they just had to suck it up.

I usually never give guys at one weight lb for lb lists, but artur fought at heavyweight in Olympics, so he could easily dominate cruiser I think, beterbiev is not slow footed at all! Watch callum smith fight again, beterbiev will stop bivol or beat him pillar to post, this guy is rocky marciano w better movement but as strong and tough, both heavyweights same height fighting heavyweights. I watch the usyk fight in Olympics occasionally, think he could take usyk tomorrow, I called it in 5 rds,

And Beterbiev was working that hammer first to the side of the face and head, I was laughing like, Bruh, this dude brought a little bit of MMA into the ring! Good victory for Beterbiev. He has slowed down a step and is using his mind more and when he got hurt to the body, he did more lateral movement. I think investing more to Beterbiev's body with shorts would equip a better fighter with a chance of winning but it wasn't Smith's night tonight. Admirable attempt though.

You could see that Smith had worked on the uppercut before the fight, but I don't think he landed it once - Beterbiev doesn't crouch & roll like a pressure fighter - he's happy to rely on his high guard & footwork to get him out of trouble - it works for him, so why change it.....

This is where it's important to discuss if one guy or the other can take the shots enough and not get damaged. I think both bivol and beterbiev can damage each other. Bivol will need to move a lot forward and fight at a distance. Canelo never reqlly got hurt by Bivol. Even Biv9ls last fight he didnt push enough to make his pace faster. But guys get up 8n the morning differently when its the best opponent. I would like to favor Beterbiev with his power and pushing forward.

One thing no one is talking about is although his gloves are 10 oz.. They ARE also Specifically made to have more of the bulk on the wrist/ back of the glove which means less padding in the knuckles area.. Look at the wrist to knuckle ratio on Beterbievs gloves compared to the Grant or Everlast gloves.. Beterbiev is definitely a big puncher and physically strong but big “Stars” like a Floyd or Canelo would never fight him with those gloves.🤷😂
