You got a timestamp with a mic wire in it? This one can't be live. A one take video with this many extras makes this hard enough to film. We've seen him do black magic with the sound levels whilst he moves to different environments, but there's no way he rapped for however many takes this took. Still a great song and video, but no way the vocals are live.

I don't believe it's live audio because there aren't acoustics like in Jenny/Screech/Violet trilogy and there is a backing track not guitar. There's no lapel and if it was an overhead/directional combo there would be more acoustics. He's still rapping over the track...walking backwards down stairs...cane over head....looking at the camera

Being a movie buff myself .I think he is paying tribute to cult film classics ..Animal Farm being the main theme based with scenes from these classics like The Shining (girl on bike in hallway) Witches of Eastwick ( 3 girls round Rens feet ) A clockwork orange ( dressed in white with a cane ) Silence of the Lambs ( cannibal stair scene with lamb ) the chocolate factory (the beat ) Wind in the willows and creature from the black lagoon ( bathroom scene toad and creature in bath ) All cult classical movies.. Im sure there are more .. this is a piece of art ..nice reaction.

Everything that Ren does feels *powerful*. He can literally recite a nursery rhyme and have me thinking, "Well, that's some deep shit, innit?"

The thing is though, he's not new or coming out of nowhere. His upcoming album Sick Boi is actually his 4th album since he started making music AGAIN in 2016. He's actually been making music since 2002 when he was only 12 years old but he took 9 years off in 2007 because of his Lyme Disease slowly killing him and going misdiagnosed. He's been a legend in the UK for years, but the world is finally taking notice.

I think Mr Loyd is just explaining Animal Farm in a another way. Of course these things are up for interpretation. Ren is Starlin. That isn't a good thing. It is a warning... but not that Ren is amazing. It's a warning about KZread, TikTok, Twitter and social media in general.

Well Animal Farm was a commentary on communists in which mass rebelled against the "powerful." They replaced the business owners, the ruling classes and the land owners with "The people!" Except "The people who led the people turned out to be dicks who ate their own! Killed and betrayed their cause and became worse than the people they usurped. In animal farm the same shit happened except with animals.

Ren is the creator of a new genre, and it has the power to hunt down your soul and impact you in unexpected ways. As a former mental health professional, I see his music expressing his story, which is a particularly troubling variation on the lives of so many people who struggle with mental health issues. His music hurts me in a way that makes me grow. I can't say that about anyone else in the current music scene. Your reaction was perfect.

Totally agree, although I'm almost 100% certain there are some hidden cuts, but done extremely well (whenever the camera lingers on a door, wall or floor and the frame fills with just one colour, for instance). Still just as impressive, with the amount of planning that needed to go on beforehand. And more entertaining and engaging than most record label artists who have a massive budget. Can't get enough of this artist!

I like how this was filmed at the Ivy in Brighton. Right where he busks with his band.

Ren is an example of change. His song "Hi, Ren" is one everyone should hear at least once, and his style is dynamic, ever changing, and a harbinger of a new form of music.

I think the videos are meant to be watched in sequence. Starting with Hi Ren, then Sick Boi, then Illest of our time and then animal flow. They tell a story over time.. He really is freakin mind blowing

Thank you for reacting to anything by Ren. Bisecting or dissecting Ren's brain may be too much of a challenge for normal human beings. Be careful and just use your imagination. Yes it's Animal Farm, one of my most favorite books I have read since I was 12 years old! Many other references. I would love to be inside Ren's brain, for a few minutes, is that enough time? would I come back out myself again? Will Ren's brain explain my thoughts as well as his. I feel a commonality with him that sometimes scares me but mostly excites and thrills me. One listen is not enough, I wasn't sure, my first go through, but many many listens since I am seeing the genius of Ren again. I am seeing the connections of his lyrics to other written works of art in literature. Truly amazing. Ren is amazing! I also wondered about the mind of George Orwell from some of his books. When younger not much made sense now that I am a senior citizen, a lot more makes sense from my education, reading a lot and other observations.

I like where your observations took us. Yeah, it has heavy references to Animal Farm and others but you took us deeper. Exactly where Ren wants us to go. You peeled back another layer. Like a sleight of hand magician, Ren spun tales in front of us but I and many others have missed the underlying message. He is here and bringing everything into our world from his mind, in all its glory and fright. To say he is talented falls short. To say he is gifted falls short. He is a raging bull that was held back and has now been released and we are lucky enough to get to watch it happen.

Great interpretation! Ren himself loosely based this on George Orwell's 'Animal Farm'. The major themes being power structures, how to overthrow them, revolution and aftermath. In art though, all interpretations are equally valid and yours is one of the best I've heard. Ren's said that for most of his tracks he tries not to explain in too much detail, unless he considers it REALLY important to do so, as he loves hearing fan's interpretations. He's also made a deliberate decision not to explain 'the pig' because he's been enjoying hearing fan's theories too much. :)

Can we talk about the fact this dude is putting all this unbelievable music out, while spending his life suffering through Limes Disease, autoimmunity disorders, and intermittent psychotic episodes? I have enough medical problems to know that if I had this guy's lot in life I would be insufferable, and I definitely would struggle to stop feeling sorry for myself long enough to top a chart. Fucking love Ren, all the respect for this man.

A twist. If you read the rules on the wall, you'll see the animals have rebelled...they're in clothes, drinking alcohol, eating meat, ...they have become what they tried to overcome (humans)

Ren is for shock value, but also pushing boundaries, breaking norms, challenging perceived authorities .... but above all else he is a story-teller ...and these are the artists who have long reign in the industry.
