"He hasn't changed his technique in 6 years" - Ryan Hughes goes off about technique - Gypsy Tales

Ryan Hughes makes his first appearance on the Gypsy Tales Podcast. Ryno is one of the thought leaders in the Motocross and Supercross world when it comes to technique on the motorcycle and you can see the passion as he talks about pro's not adapting to the new techniques that are evolving in the sport.

Well. At a much higher level of skill and technique there are very small things you can do to make big gains. For average joes like us. It doesn't make a difference. For a professional. Having a few centimeters of extra movement in their upper body results in serious gains. Ryan was riding in a time where the vast majority of guys used neckbraces and the technique wasnt at the level it is currently (not to say there was no technique. They were crazy technical, just that the game has elevated again as it always does with time).

Great podcast Jase. You're really putting out the best content, and I really like how you're trying to inject new ideas about how motocross could evolve as a sport and become better. Feels like the sport is being run by a bunch of dumb dinosaurs right now and missing out on so much opportunity. It's such an awesome sport that practically anyone who see's has respect for and these dusty old fart are marketing it terribly. We need new ideas! Ryno is one of my buddies, but it's not like we've hung out very much. We also grew up thousands of miles apart never knowing one an other... Listening to him is creepy sometimes. I kid you not... if a computer manipulated his voice to mine I could listen to it and not believe it wasn't me. I rant to my clients and athletes EXACTLY the same way, tone, and f-bombs 🤣 I use nearly identical analogies. I'm in a different industry these days (outside of some recreational moto coaching), but I give no flucks who I piss off, or who's products I call dogchit. I've kind of got a rap for it, but also gained a ton of respect inside the industry and medical personnel for my out of the box thinking. I totally relate to your technique story. I get to ride 3 times in good month, not even getting through a tank of fuel with all of them together... but I crave working on improving. It's frustrating sometimes, because seat time does matter and I just don't get enough of it to shake my stupid problems that I know I could shake if I just got to ride consistently! My bike has 9hrs since July 😭 Keep up the good work!

I can't remember which F1 champ said it but I won't forget it. I think it applies to all racing. "Slow is fast, fast is slow."

Just cant get past the take off all the protective gear to go faster thing. Why not the helmet, boots ect... what about mouth guard, Kenny still wears wrist protection maybe take it off and win every race.

I hear yah RYNO, but RV2 wore the neck brace and he is a fucking legend. He did have that separation you speak of though he let that bike work and he was super loose on his machine.

It's crazy to me this came out a week ago. You know this traveled to Marvin and he watched it. He just won Saturday night? Did he listen and adjust or just coincidence?

I believe Marvin knew he had to change something that Baker wasn't teaching him, in order to beat Webb. It worked!
