It’s really kind of a miracle that both Fuheng and his sister the empress ended up being such decent and wise people, considering just how stupid and blind their mother is. I can only guess they had a good father. But they were most definitely rare in those societies which were filled much more with people like Erqing who don’t care about the life and well being of a lowly servant and will harm them at their pleasure or temperamental whim.

The mom is just being practical. She's more about the politics involved, which basically is power and money. The toxic daughter in law secures his son a good political station and an political ally. That's all his mom cares about.

It is all about everything in society, not just one subject. Life of others is the most important and valuable of the living of relationship between people. She wants Fuheng to fulfill her dream, but Fuheng gave his heart to someone else that he could not step out and state clearly to everyone around him. Because Fuheng found out about her purpose after him not out of heart, he is the one that tore apart n hide it

What kind of horrible people that values appearances over the life of other person. Even that they dismiss the death of a person because she is a simple maid. No respect for a human life because of social position. If it is not rich that come from a "good" family then her life do not have value and everyone can bully that person. Sigh no plot if this kind of things happen in the story. But is truly disgusting.

My God, Erqing is the epitome of toxicity. But I think Fuheng is equally guilty. He shouldn't have agreed to marry Erqing in a moment of despair. Didn't his sister, the empress herself persuade him to reject the marriage? She knew the consequences of a forced marital alliance and tried to stop it but Fuheng was clearly not his right mind ; but then he was too stressed out by the pressure to guard his family reputation versus sacrificing honor for his love. That leaves Erqing largely responsible for her miserable fate because Fuheng had already hammered it into her thick and infatuated head that he only ever loved Yung Luo.

I love legend of yanxi palace. It's one of the best drama's I have seen. The bit where Qinglian drinks gold wine is such a weird bit for me considering the quality of the rest of the show. There is precedent for "gold wine" (jinxiaojiu 金屑酒) being used for self ending historically in China, but BUT it was used exclusively by the elite of society and even then, rarely. Where did she get access to wine (or a beverage) drink with gold suspended in it? She is lying in her sick bed when the maid calls out for help. Did she get up and somehow prepare this herself before then? She only just arrived in the Fucha residence after a period of absence without expectation of returning so how did she get access to gold and then prepare flakes of it? Did the brothel she was at just have gold flakes lying around? Does the Fucha residence just have it lying around? Did the maid who was serving her bring it in? I am not trying to split too many hairs about this point. Just of all the methods they had to remove Qinglian for story telling purposes, they picked the straight up weirdest and unlikeliest for a poor maid girl like Qinglian to use. If they had left it at poison I would have little to quibble about. Rare plot hole for Yanxi Palace.

@@XiaoqiaoDrama Gets funnier when you note that gold by itself is actually not fatal. Only the substance it's consumed with. So unless she consumed a toxin to go with her gold drink, she wouldn't have died. Thank you for making these videos. You do great work :)

@@fuu_sye4344 Not a euphemism or polite way of saying self ending. It is a specific method. Just not a common one, in part because it is so hard to prepare for. An example of a historical figure who used this method is Empress Jia nanfeng of the Jin Dynasty..

Fu Heng will never gain over her because he has too much principles and she respect none. If Fu Heng reveal the truth about his illegitimate son, blood line is so valued in chinese culture that nobody will accuse him to be a bad husband. Everyone will see how dark this woman is. Actually didn’t expose not because he care about his face nor he believes is the Emperor son… he keeps the secret to avoid a heart attack to his mother and for the innocent kid to becomea bastard.

i would have laid out every bad thing she ever did and that the boy wasn't his since she had an affair that would of put an end to her and that's what she disserved after all the lives she harmed and all the death she caused. it would have made if so she felt end a shred of the pain and hurt she caused to others

He never wanted to marry erqing to begin with. The emperor did choose erqing because he said the due status of fuheng can never allowed to marry a nobody like wei linglou. Erqing is granddaughter of the secretary Hitari clan. Emperor has ulterior motive bcuz he wanted wei linglou for himself just like the empress said that maybe his so against to fuheng wanting to marrying wei linglou cuz he's jealous and wanted wei linglou to be his concubine. And aside that marrying fuheng to erqing he send fuheng after to war and then he take wei linglou as his wife. And the emperor accused wei linglou and to be executed that's why fuheng forced to accept to marrying erqing just to protect wei linglou. The only mistake that fuheng did was never told to wei linglou about the reasons. The mistake the he forever regret to for the rest of his life cuz when he return wei linglou is already the emperor's concubine. Fuheng accepted to be in the war for the reward that he will trade to asked for wei linglou as his concubine. Don't accused him the things he never did. Try to rewatch it and understand. He never wanted to hurt wei linglou he wanted to protect her. Even until to his death he loves her unconditional.

It has nothing to do with love or choosing a side. It's about what's right and wrong which we can clearly see. Now, if you were referring to that the Qing Dynasty than yes, love was secondary back than but you don't see the wife really winning if anything she's losing lol

So, sure she's passing on a son but just not her husband's and I think that's more disgraceful than what some maid did. Oh and by the way what terrible thing to say that a wife has better rights than maid in 2021. I don't know where you are from but in Canada where I'm from, everyone is equal when it comes to human rights. Now that's that's. I am done on this matter because we're obviously are from different worlds but I personally like mine better.
