Fuheng and Wei Yingluo were able to communicate with each other by looking into each other's eyes , they were each other's true loves. The emperor and Yingluo had to talk about things out loud with Yingluo having to be clever in order to get her point across. There are many types of love. But in this life one meets a lot of people, but you only meet very few who truly understand you.

Unfortunately, in that era, they can only help each other this way. Fuheng married Erqing to protect Yingluo; and now she turned to protect him because of her status as the Emperor’s concubine.

Aww, I'm both sad and happy for Wei and Fuheng. The love and understand each other so much even they are not fated to be together.

Fuheng caling her his 'Zhiji' is just *chefs kiss* I really do feel that she and him are soul mates, but weren't fated in this lifetime to be together. It really shows in how they look out for each other. If they had married they would have been happy, but by her being in the palace, she is able to look out for him, as he did for her. I'd love to see a sequel about the two of them in their next life, as mentioned later on. Maybe in that life, Fuheng gets the girl, while the emperor steps back.

I absolutely LOVE how Wei Yinglou absolutely KNOWS th Emperor and knows how to interact with him. Possibly could this be the reason he actually Loves her and cherishis her above all else? Although he is the Emperor and not only has but can get the most beautiful women in his harem, he and Consort Ling, truly love and respect one another, like a true married couple, unlike how he interacts with the other women Plus, the two actors playing the roles (please, PLEASE forgive me for not even TRYING to pronounce or write their names 😊) are so good in the roles. They are truly believable.

i think she and fuca are more like the best of friends, the kind that have lived their lives and death together. It's not about unrequited love,it's not about jealousy anymore. This looks more like they have grown out of the shackles of loves and hatred, and has become silence confidantes. Each of them try to lives the best of their lives while providing chances to the other in the time of need

Agreed! I always thought that their relationship was a first love kind of thing that eventually turned into a deep friendship/bond as the starting/beginning feelings changed to circumstances and all. When they first met, they were enemies, well, he was hers. And slowly both started to develope feelings for one-another. A crush to first love type of situation... It was sweet, just like every other crush. But due to both's decisions, their first love, those feelings had to be stopped/couldn't develope further and truly bloom. They chose different paths in life, but they still kept a sort of warmth towards one-another. They were confidants that had gone through so much together. Even if they no longer loved each-other in the same way, they'd never forget what the other meant and did for them which is truly beautiful.

I like how she is able to command even the emperor with just a glance. those glances are powerful and shows how much confidence and grace Ling Fei actually has

That's true. I also agree with you. Despite of having a huge chemistry between Ying Luo and Fuca Fu Heng, I also think they were not really meant to have a happy life together. It's just that she love him because of the attention and care that he give to her. And she really love the emperor even though she kept on convincing herself that she was just using him for a revenge.

@@aliyakim306 Fuca Wes definitely a first love, plus he was the empress brother and we know how Ying Luo felt about her. He also played a big part in helping her find her sister's true killer. So there is a lot of different emotions at play and she would have married Fuca, but the emperor was already in love with her and stopped it. The love she shared with the emperor was different, it wasn't as sweet, not until the end of the show that it. I think it may have been stronger due to all the trails they had to go through

She was who the Emperor needed, she was the only one who dares to speak her mind even if its against the Emperor’s own opinions. From the beginning they already showed how playful the Emperor can be but its a side of him that he never shows to others. He’s somehow only able to be his true self around Ying Luo bc she herself can be playful as well. Ying Luo and Fuheng had pure love for one another, one that wants nothing but the other person’s happiness. With the paths they took in their life, they really weren’t meant to be together but at least they were both able to make the other feel what pure love is esp at a place like the Forbidden City

I have never liked historical dramas like this because i thought the guys looked weird with this hair style. I never gave it a chance. Till i ran into this clip. I found it cute and interested i heard so many good reviews and decide to give it a try. Oh i am in love ❤❤ with this drama the story is very unique i have never seen a FL lead like her. I love the fact that she decided to go another way to approach the emperor and i love the way she has been herself from begging to end. Also love the way she lets others think that their plans are working and then BAMM!! she attacks lol. She got rid of every evil person one by one. Like others i would of love for to end up with Fuchang and it broke my heart into pieces when he died espiacily when he said "im tired in the next life will you protect me?" And he showed up smiling. The emperor i did hate him in the beginning espicialy when the empress was crying asking him to let her go. And then trying to break the marriage of YL and FH But i then understood why he did it. In all the actors ware fantastic they portrayed every characters ver good. It made me laugh and cry. In conclusion thank you to the writers for this wonderful story 100% recommended. 😘😘😘😘😍😍😍😍❤❤❤

You should also try watching the legend of the pearl! The female main character is really playful, and kind of "cunning"(?) and her relationship with the emperor is cute! There's also nice plot, plenty of drama, however the ending may or may not seem sad....i cried, but it does seem realistic. Pretty sure the historical aspect was that the emperor character was based off of china's first emperor(heard he was a great emperor)
