When you were talking about getting emotional about the National Anthem, it reminded me about when I delivered gas to the gas stations on Fort Drum. At least once a week I would deliver when Taps was played. I would stand with my hand over my heart and every soldier, whether in uniform or not, stood at attention and saluted! Always brought tears to my eyes!

Your National Anthem has to be the most beautiful Anthem and I get chocked up every time I see the Americans stand at attention with their hand over their hearts, that shows nothing but pure respect for all the men and women who served or are serving to protect our countries and I say ours because they are protecting us Canadians as well! 🇺🇸♥️🙏🏻🇨🇦

@jeanjohnson2402 When I lived in New York, I would go to the French Festival in Cape Vincent, NY. I loved listening to the Canadian Bagpipe Bands that would come down from Ontario for the parade! They were so good!

The fireworks is our worst nightmare for the animals. They all freak out so we have to sit with all of them. 5 dogs and 3 potbelly monsters just trying to get comfortable

Especially when you have inconsiderate neighbors (three houses away) who enjoy shooting off fireworks at all hours of the day and night for at least a week before and a week after July 4th, even during red flag warnings. It sets off every pet within a quarter mile. By the way, fireworks within city limits are illegal here. The cops never seem to catch these jerks.

It’s the extreme selfishness and the lawlessness the Bible speaks of in the end times. We are supposed to live quiet lives and peace with all men, yet many who say they are Christian’s disrespect others for their own pleasure and call it patriotism. Still we are to forgive and pray for them and let the Lord deal with them if they will not listen to reason. Any suffering we endure for the Lord will be rewarded and we will be vindicated. They will have to answer to Him for doing those things if they do not repent.

Ya'll are so lucky to have mullein growing wild on your property! It's great for respiratory and lung health. You can harvest the leaves and flowers, dry them and use in teas or tinctures. I like to mix it with lemon balm, stinging nettle and other herbs to make a yummy tea blend. Have fun with the rest of the Doss family!

In 1973-76 our nation was building up to the 1976 bi-centennial. It was a huge deal. Our Republic was prepping for this Republics 200th birthday. The anticipation was exciting. We are just 2 years for our nation to celebrate the Republic’s 250th anniversary/birthday of our independence and there does not seem to be any thought at all for such a huge accomplishment. In ‘76 I was working as the camp nurse in the Adirondack Mountains, we had events the entire day and evening. We had fireworks on the waterfront which were awesome. I’m not seeing any build up for 2026, which is really sad. So many have fought, died or been maimed in fighting for our beloved independence. I do hope that we can come together as a nation and celebrate such a special occasion. I’m sure your mom and dad can share memories from then. Prayers your dad had a positive appointment today(7/3/24) & that he and your mom do well with the future procedure and recovery. Blessing to all of the Doss family and all the critters! ❤️🇺🇸❤️🙏✝️

I always get emotional when our National Anthem is played. Plenty of Military people in our family, going back to the 1st World War. A Uncle who was in World War II, 2 Brother's, a Brother in Law who was more like a Big Brother to me, a Great Nephew and a Nephew in law. My daughter got stung in the eye today. Now, her one eye is swollen shut with great pain, thankfully the stinger was not left behind. The doctor put her on steroid drops and antihistamines. Wasp and stinging insects are dangerous.

that place sat overrun with vegitation for so long the bugs and such have had free reighn, now you come along and slowly but surely get the place cleared out and maybe the bugs will thin out. The Walkers just got a puppy and their LGD (herks sister?) did not like her being in or near her pen. The tall plant with spiked bloom stems in the second year is pronounced Mull....like mulling something over + Lynn like a girl's name. Very useful medicinal herb. Steep the yellow flowers to make tea...fresh or dried ..is easy and very good for congestion.

And mine and Ron's anniversary is July 2, so it was a very hard day for me, Ron being my angel now! My two son's Shawn and Brent and their families took me out for Dinner and then I spent the night with brent and his family for the night. Just what I needed. I've had dogs that hate fireworks to the point of near sickness. I've had some that seem to be indifferent. I've read that some breeds (like Schnauzers which we used to have) are actually physically affected by them, so no wonder they're freaked out. THIS YEAR is the FIRST TIME I've wondered what CHICKENS think. Lots of folks practice with freedom sticks around here and they didn't mind those. I hope they just tune them out, at some point. Lord, please calm those who struggle with this tradition and thank You again for those who did make the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom and all those who signed up to do so. Draw the lost to true repentance and salvation, please. In Your Name I pray, Jesus. Amen
