    I am so happy to see that. Shooting while jumping into another player is a really bad thing for the game, at least form the audience perspective. It both reduces the likelihood of making the shot and stops the flow of the game. I have always hated the players that did that, and Hardin was obviously the worst offender even without seeing this video to prove it. I understand that at full speed it is hard to always judge correctly who initiated the contact, but there needs to be a penalty for offensive players who do this all the time.

    The Olympics were a really cool showcase of what I’ve always thought. The players complained for not getting calls they normally get. People tried to say this is proof they’re soft. However the tournament proved the exact opposite. It took a couple games but when the team got used to the more physical play style they became damn near unstoppable. Their defense was solid as hell. They only need to adjust and then they’re back to their usual star level of play.

    As a non american NBA viewer, I've always felt that the main reason such high score numbers are reached between games is because the league has defensive plays neutered. Not only because foul intent triples, but step backs, travelling make it way too hard for the defense to get there. Also in europe you can defend in a box which is also another reason why defense is more tight.

    This is a great video Jxmy. I just subscribed because of it. I wish now they would start calling traveling fouls more often. It's outright flagrant how many travels there are in the NBA.

  • @wunnell

    @wunnell

    2 жыл бұрын

    I'm not sure that there are as many as a lot of people think. It's a fact that NBA rules are more lax in that area. I think the problem is that the lax NBA rules have made it quite hard to tell what is a travel and what isn't - it's often still hard to tell after watching several slo-mo replays - so what chance do the refs have of getting it consistently right with a single look at full speed? I don't think there are as many travels as many people think, but there are still too many. The NBA relaxes rules like that to make the game more of a spectacle for the fans but I'd suggest that they piss more fans off by making the game less interesting. Using the same traveling rules as the rest of the world would make it far clearer what is a travel and what isn't and fans would feel that the game was fairer and thus enjoy it more.

    I'm all for bringing back tight man defense, full court presses all game long, overall less foul calling in general with only essential foul calling with as minimal impact on the game as possible, and an increase in holding players and coaches more accountable for their violent, showboating, disrespectful and disruptive behavior (that includes college too). Fundamentally sound, fast paced, and team oriented but still individually driven basketball is very exciting to watch! On the other hand, very slow paced, infighting, excessive showboating, official and foul heavy, and uninspired and passionate-less basketball is not fun to watch.

    If u step back, u go up- shoot and down. If u fly forward or sideways to draw a foul, if it is minimal= no call, medium= offensive foul, notorious player lime Milker/Curry/Harden/Doncic= technical foul The purpose should be to pull up a decent shot to make it, in spite of fouls. Reward hinest defense (got a give the shooter landing space though). Also, what Trae is douig is offensive foul in fiba basketball! You cant beat the guy then stop suddenly that he has contact. Unnatural movement! Jyst keep going or shoot/pass. Keep the game celan, give real defenders (not Pat Bey type) a chance.

    Ratings took a huge dip last season and have been on a downward spiral for about 4 years now. Down 10% from 2019 season and 25% from the 2018 season. That’s regular season. Check out the Finals’ ratings. Last season Finals’ ratings went down over 50% from the 2019 season. The Finals averaged just under 4 million a game last season. 2019 was 8.8 million and 2018 was around 10 million per game. I have a feeling this has nothing to do about the game and more about ratings and money.

    I agree as both a Dubs fan and 90s kid. No bail outs. Get right! Shoot straight up, stop seeking the defensive contact and act like you know how to land. 💯

    well i'm glad they finally addressed this, but i've had to watch these kind of play dominate the game for the last 10 years. it's really frustrating. maybe we'll actually see a little defense on the perimeter this season

    I still think it’s impressive that players can shoot into contact and still drain 3’s. I do like the rule change though and think it’ll only better the game overall.

    at least when he do that he usually bangs the shot. Others do that when they can't make shots and they use that as an alternative to score. As steph gets a lot of defender as a response to his great shooting, he uses this strat to scare away the defender for him to get some space to shoot.
