Great video, but remember that C02 is not conducive to repeated fire. Between each shot, there should be a pause of 6-10 seconds. This gives the C02 a chance to recover/repower. That said, your #'s would be even more impressive.

@Keith Grout people are installing the powerkit with onlky 350 fps? is the 7 joule just a slap to the face or what? can we really get gains on the hdp f? is it worth wasting an extra 100 dolalrs on mods ? or should i just make a 12g pipe gun and call it a fuckign day because every other non ;ethal just sucks ASS !! !! will the hdp-f get increase in joules or fps?

Hi Mad Dog, thank you for explaining the process tuning the hdr50!! watched your video carfully, got it all back together, but after test shooting, the black valve holder thingy is punching through to the point where it blocks the ammo-drum from spinning to the next bullet... dk why and dk what i did wrong... maybe you know whats happening...? I will ask Florian too maybe a troubleshooting will help solving this issue... thank you and best regards

On the topic of the thermodynamic properties of metal... It would be interesting to do a liquid nitrogen test. Just to see if extreme cold would be worth a MPS or two.

Very cool man! Does this also work with other airguns and co2 guns that have an more powerfull version but get to us as like 7,5 Joule versions?

Depends how they are made, if you can only get a less powerful version, then there is likely to be a restriction somewhere.

Hi Ben, When you fitted the Powerkit.50 and steel barrel plus extention, did you put the valve block back in or did you keep that out to. I've heard and seen videos of people who have removed the valve block from their HDR50 and the gun dumps the co2 after 2-3 shots! Cheers pal.... Great vids by the way!!

@@Maddogairguns i was under the umpression that leaving the valve block put completely, would imcrease power , but the only downfall would be too much power to shoot pepperballs? Im sure there would be enough air to shoot off 6 shots off a 12gr co2

Hi Mate, Just another little mod while you have gun apart. Avoid moving parts areas but carve some pieces of foam rubber type material. Fill the cavities. When shooting you get a nicer feel, BUFF! instead of TWANG!. A bit like the difference between shutting a Rolls Royce car door or Ford Cortina. Stay well, atb.

Great video like always ! I did exactly the same mod to my HDR few weeks ago , insane power increase with around 5grams 10mm steel balls slug made with the 50.26 slugmaker ! I suggest you to buy some silicone grease and apply it on the part where the piston slide on ! Because it could get stuck one day if its not grease and cause leaks !

Very true. I did the same and always make sure to grease mine up well. The slugmaker is brilliant. Got one for the 16j HDS68 double barrelled shot gun. Homedefense also do all the mods for the HDS68 too and some awesome steel pointed ammo. Homedefence24 also have a silencer for the HDR50 but it's always out of stock.

@@The_Viking_Highlander In my subjective opinion it just has a little dumping effect... But I still love it becouse the long barrel makes the HDR50 more powerful and looks great! It looks in my eyes better than just the long barrel! In case that Florian really doesn't produce more you can get back at me, I bought two! Greetings 🇩🇪

The pin seals the chamber, so fitting a shorter one allows for more co2 in when you pull the trigger.

Hey habe eine Frage zwischen der 7.5 und 11 jouls. Ist bei der 7.5jouls lediglich diese Drossel montiert im Zylinder. Und wen ich diesen entferne habe ich dann die 11jouls Version oder ist das Stiftventil auch ein anderes.

I'm based in France. Yes Florian's kit will make it illegal in the UK unfortunately. Some people stick to rules and some don't! Luckily here in France we can have Air rifles or handguns up to 20joules.

Florian is probably the best person to answer that one. I made all the modifications at the same time, so I don't know if just doing the barrel would make any difference. I think it would make it slightly more powerful, but the gun might not be making the amount of power claimed in the first place.

It’s not too bad.

I did the changes and now my hdr is losing co2 when the co2 capsule is punctured... :( what is the problem, i even glued back the new valve like it was done from the fabric.

I damaged the threads a little when I did it and it leaked, but I cleaned up the threads and made sure the o ring was sitting correctly and it was fine after that.

Hi, first of all thanks for your videos. You said that the extraction of the u-shaped piece on the 11 Joule version adds 2-3 Joule. I was thinking on doing this. I think I’ll do first the removal of that U-shaped piece and the barrel substitution, and as I get more confident I’ll do the other mods. 24 Joules is ... wow, I mean, my most powerful air piston rifle, a Stoeger, has 24 Joules, which is the legal limit here in Spain :-) . If someone breaks into your home for a home invasion where there is imminent mortal danger to your loved ones, youre going to be only 3 or 4 feet away from their eyeball when you squeeze the trigger anyway so not sure if you need it to 20 joules, but this is a really cool upgrade kit. How much is the power kit and does the barrel make any difference to the performance or is it just cosmetic ? Thanks

Yes. All the upgrades will make a difference even if you do them one at a time. Removing the valve block is the easiest and free mod which will give you 2-3joules extra.

Can I use this kit for the HD50L?

Does the barrel extension or do you know of anything that may make it quieter. got the 11 joules coming and would like to make as quiet as possible,?

The extension doesn’t make it quieter, but I have heard talk of a moderator for this gun. That should calm the noise down a bit.

@@Maddogairguns I tried last night on mine, I took mine apart. Box said it was an 11 J version, but when I took it apart, there was no valve piece to remove, it wasn't even there. Also that other round pressure valve that you tap in was already there. So I think I somehow got the European 16J version

@@san3125 As far as I know they only do two versions. 7.5joule which is legal in the UK and Germany, and the 11joule version which is legal in most of the rest of Europe. Only the HDS68 and HDX68 come in 7.5 and 16, plus there is the option for the HDX to be 40joules if you have a license.

I live in France. Been here for about 11 years. Not sure if they would ship. Have you checked out the Facebook group HDR50 love and home defence? You could ask on there.

On the website it says the powerkit only works for the 11 joule version, is this true? As they do not sell the 11 joule version in the US.

La version 7,5 joules a un bloc de vannes différent et n'a pas de bouchon au-dessus de l'endroit où le CO2 entre. Ainsi, lorsque vous retirez le bloc de vannes sur la version 7,5 joules, vous devez insérer l'autre pièce. La version 11joule a déjà cette pièce montée.

I just heated it on the stove flame for about 30seconds and then it came undone quite easily.

I drilled mine out with a very small dim drill then it unscrewed

What is the trigger pull like? I have arthritis in both hands trigger pull is important for me.

I can’t tell you exactly, as I can’t measure the pull weight. It’s not the lightest trigger, I guess because it cycles the magazine as well. But to me it doesn’t feel too heavy, however I don’t have issues with my hands.

So I only need to remove the valve block then change the valve pin and barrel for the max power on a 11 joules version?

Yes, but I think on the 7.5joule version you have to put a piece in somewhere at the end of the CO2 chamber. Not entirely sure as I have not done a 7.5joule.

No, never had it catch. It has to move in and out to stop the drum from spinning. Either the barrel is getting a bit stuck in the gun casing or the spring might not be sitting right.

Have you tried regular paintballs and or powder balls inert, you see I'm more concerned about using pepper balls, with your new high-power toy?

It’s quite possible that with the extra power, pepper balls and paintballs might fail or explode in the barrel. I only shoot rubber or metal so it’s not a problem for me.

I’ve not said I would do anything, that’s what’s up. Home Defence-24 is not me, I have been lucky enough to test some of their products and that’s where it ends. Get in touch with them.

So this has no restrictor disc

So just over 21 joules, not too bad. But not great either given the cost of the marker plus the upgrades. Getting close to the cost of an FSC which is a lot more powerful.

FSCs cost over 340$ in my country, while this gun costs 99$. Where can you buy an FSC for the same price as this with the power mod added ?

@@greveeen You cant. But you pay for performance. The FSC is much better built, but you're write its more expensive and if you have a limited budget then the HDR is the one to go for.

I know, in the US, the 7 joule version is the one sold. What is the version sold in the UK? (7 or 11 joule)

UK is only allowed the 7.5joule version.

​@@Maddogairguns cheers for the heads-up. Do you know if you have to upgrade to the 11 joule valve, before having access to the other joule upgrades? Or, are there upgrades specific for the 7.5 valve/UK version? I just bought (and am enjoying) the stock uk version. I saw the upgrades, but due to the different versions ..I got confused :) Thanks again. fyi: I've had success with lead shot ammo with the uk version. Close range (while slower) imo; they impart more kinetic energy into the target (than other materials - steel, plastic). Though, I would only recommend their use in reality, not on the target range. I think they task the gun too much, for regular use (as well as being polluting, I guess ;) Peace.

@@Moodymongul You can upgrade the 7.5joule version, and it will give better results than modding the 11joule version due to the size of the chamber. It is larger on the 7.5joule gun. But just be aware that the gun police, especially on here, will cause you trouble modding the gun in the UK.

​@@Maddogairguns If your interested, I've been experimenting with friends. And we found a few minor issues with the pistol (but worth noting). Its possible for the ammo cylinder to (occasionally) not turn when firing (even when placed correctly). It seems connected to the rubber ball ammo. If you place it too firmly into the cartridge, it sticks out enough to (sometimes) cause the cylinder rotator to not function. This usually happens once, as the mechanism generally pushes the rubber ball into a better position (after one mis-fire). So just an ammo placement issue (for the user to know). One other thing we noticed, which is interesting. If you strike the front of the barrel (i.e. if you were to hit someone with a thrust of the barrel, as a warning/'barrel butt') ..then the gun immediately jams after the impact. The cartridge must be rotated/moved, in order to fix the issue. This seemed 98% true when using the pistil as an 'impact weapon' before firing. Just testing mind, no-one was hurt during these tests (just a few bruises). If you have past training, you always check for limitations in your tools before 'reality' situations ever have a chance to occur :) Peace.

Why does the tuning barrel stop's the magazine from revolving, followed step by step... Very disappointed

Is the tuning barrel moving backwards and forwards in the gun. Either the spring on the barrel is not sitting correctly or you might have tightened the gun casing a bit too much.

Where did you get that shirt? my dad has been in a chair since 96 when he fell off the roof.

Sorry my friend, but the 2022 version of HDR T4E 7,5J version 2.4757 have a very different valve block,and revolver don't work without it,and don' t have a pressure chamber insert!!

Did you notice an increase in trigger pull after installing the new barrel?

Not so much on my gun, but I have installed the barrel on a couple of guns for other people, and yes the trigger did get tighter. Likely to be the spring on the new barrel, being a bit tougher than the original spring and forcing the barrel into the magazine/drum.

6ftlb is the legal limit for air pistols in the UK, some people argue that it’s a paintball marker and the limit maybe different. After that it’s up to you, but if you get caught it could be a lot of trouble.

@@Maddogairguns cheers brudda. So, it appears the current HDR discharges at around 7.5 J and 6 ft lbs is about 8J So it's fair to say it's at the limit and not able to upgrade. Thank you for your response. I'll be moving to Mars where you can still buy laser rifles without a license. Cheers

I know but that kit from swat airguns - 19 is a better kit with and extended barrel and slotted plastic gun extention and extra storage for a clip..they dont shipp to U.S...IM trying to get a cousin in Mexico to buy me an 11 joule unit..cheers bro... Love your place...

Found the gun in the States but not that kit...

Should have shown valve replacement/block removal regardless of ur needs. Easy to shorten pin /drill valve/save $75

You can't get the HDR50(Sold as Home Defense) in the US only the TR50(Both are the same) I got the TR50(Sold as paintball marker) 7.5 Jule version. Then I went to HomeDefence-24 and got the HDR50 7.5 Jule version valve upgrade kit that made it 3 times more powerful.The extended barrel that you can get is not worth the $$ because not needed as a home defense weapon.

The barrel does increase the power, but as you say, it’s smooth bore and doesn’t increase the accuracy.
