The holiday railfanning season in the San Francisco Bay Area is marked by the annual visit from CalTrain's holiday train the first weekend of December. Powered by an F40PH-2C locomotive during its scheduled stops and by an EMD MP15DC on it's deadhead run back to San Francisco, the holiday train is a railfan favorite and the peninsula line between South San Francisco and Downtown San Jose gets to be the focus of attention for the weekend. This year's visit to Santa Clara and College Park also included Amtrak's new Siemens long-distance Charger locomotives (ALC-42s) powering both Coast Starlights, Los Angeles-bound Train No. 11 and Seattle-bound Train No. 14!
