We made a hollowed-out book cache and placed it on the shelves among the books at our local library. It is a multi-cache with stage 1 being outside the library. The cacher will find directions in Stage 1 (a magetic hide-a-key) to tell them how to go into the library to use the Patron Access Catalog (the digital replacement of the card catalog) to locate the cache on the shelves. The library staff is very pleased with the cache because it gets people into the library and teaches them how to use the digital card catalog. The advantages of using this kind of cache actually in a library is that the probability of it being muggled is very low. Also folks are learning how to use the tools of the local library. This makes me want to hide a geocache in my university library!

I just used this video to make one for my little free library. It came out well.....with no blood drawn. :) Thanks for the video! I hope it lasts for a nice long time.

We hid a cache in a little free library and the cache got muggled. If you go to our Facebook page, facebook.com/Goblincamper2004/ you can go to the post from July 2019 and see what we did. Unfortunately, the cache had to be archived due to the fact it was muggled.

I hollowed out a book when I was a kid. I wish I had drilled out the corners like this. That was the biggest pain in the ass.

That’s horrible to do to a book!! I don’t think in a million years I’d ever find a book I’d be willing to gut...maybe one of those novelty books with no content, just all blank pages.

there are easier ways to do this. and it stinks,because this was going to be pt 1 to my puzzle cache in a little free library. now I'm worried it will be too easy.
