Also, Lute possibly hates Vaggie so much because look what Adam said about Vaggie! Lute had competition as best exorcist. I think her line of reasoning in that case was "Angels don't make mistakes. You just made a mistake. Therefore, you are an angel no more". Notice how, after making her harmless by striking her eye, she immediately goes for the wings, the very defining trait of an angel. She cannot accept an angel just made what in her view is a mistake, so she solves this contradiction by stripping Vaggie of her angelic status. But I could also be wrong

Lute’s VA posted on Twitter hinting she’s possibly recording an “angry” song for Lute for season 2 (she’s going full vengeance) Lute herself is definitely more of a threat than Adam. He was more playful and petty in dealing with his enemies but SHE is pure hate and rage. For her there’s no holding back or negotiating it’s pure bloodlust that’s only been increased with his death (and the deaths of the other exterminators) I wouldn’t be surprised if she goes so far in her hate that she starts killing others of her own kind if they even show the slightest hint of dissent of mercy (becoming the monster she always saw the other side as)

Honestly, I feel like Lute may had also held a very VERY deep vendetta against Vaggie. When Adam told Vags she was named after the best thing that ever happened to him along with mentioning her being 'One of his best girls.', Lute gave off several indications of hatred as if Adam had unknowingly reopened a wound for her. Something tells me that Lute held a way deeper fondness for Adam but he always kept his eyes on Vaggie instead which in turn caused Lute to herald a rivalry against her. Then during the extermination where Vaggie didn't wish to murder a way younger soul than the rest, Lute sought it as an opportunity to finally outdo vaggie in what she believed was a righteous way... but in actuality, was probably the WORST mistake she had ever done. In the end, Karma finally knocked her right where the sun don't shine by having not only the thing she wanted die right in front of her, but also losing a part of herself physically in the process just like Vaggie did. Quite the poetic justice.

A lot of people also think that it could be that Lute has a lot of internalised homophobia, it often manifests like that. And that it's aimed at Vaggie not just because she got out of the Exorcist cult, but because she's openly lesbian (at least, now, anyway), and Lute is lashing out at her own closeted Sapphic desires by proxy.

  • @Dragonofthefrozeneclipse

@@nox_lanius5947 I mean kinda the way she attacked Vaggie with no remorse during the extermination... theres no way that Lute just so happened to see Vaggie by pure chance... plus seemingly knowing that her own spear could physically cut and harm a fellow exterminator... this was very well planned. I bet 100% that Lute KNEW angelic weapons could harm angels or exterminators... yet she never told anyone nor Adam potentially under the guise of wanting superiority over others.

"Cult" is always something of a spectrum. Any group is going to have culty elements, it's only when those elements are overbearing and unhealthy for its members that it is earned the title of "cult". Political or religious groups can become or splinter off into cults when they engage in subjugation and intentional isolation of its members, othering of any persons that are not members or not "committed" enough, an emphasis on loyalty beyond anything else, gaslighting, and hypocrisy within its heirarchy without holding it accountable. I am of the belief that loyalty is an often overrated virtue, and often people mistake obedience for loyalty.

Lute is much scarier than Adam. She may not be as powerful, yet, but she is far more extreme and far more detached from any sort of feelings from others than even Adam. What I find absolutely insane about her is her demands from Lilith, a character who could end her existence in less time than we can measure. I mean seriously, talk about messing with a bear cub in front of mama bear. Lute is too valuable a character to end so quickly, so this won't happen as she has at least for now plot armor, but would anyone be surprised if in season two we learn that Lute disappeared shortly after returning to heaven? I wouldn't.

9:30 As a survivor of multiple cults, I want people to know that the whole not-being-allowed-to-question aspect may not be quite that cut and dry. Many cults welcome questioning up to a certain point to create the illusion that they are open to investigation, curiosity, or criticism and/or quell concerns. For example, they may encourage questioning before a potential member joins, but then after they join the group they are expected to stop. Or they may encourage questions up to a certain undisclosed point, but anything past that is taboo. If you are considering joining a group and they seem to be welcoming your questions so far, that does not *necessarily* mean they are not a cult.

  • @carniethedat7071

    @carniethedat7071

The whole issue with questioning is that if members of the in-group (or the group's leadership) always have an answer for certain questions about their beliefs or values but outright refuse to answer others for reasons they also refuse to explain, it's a huge red flag. That, at least to me, is the sign that something has reached cult territory. Also watch for answers to the questions that are "okay to ask" that focus entirely on the group in a vacuum rather than how the group interacts with the world.

The fact that Lute says such horrific things about Angel while the viewing orb shows him beaten up and bleeding is appalling. Her immediate dismissal of the circumstances Angel is fighting against _in order to be better_ just because he’s in Hell is actually heartbreaking. Makes for a great villain, but it sadly is the attitude many older people in church hold. Asking “why?” and thinking long-followed structures could be wrong is forbidden. Lute and Adam are the “don’t ask because we’re right” generation. Emily is the new “wait… We should ask questions to make things better. We were wrong” generation. Having both sides, written well, in a season with only eight episodes is insane to see. I’m glad they included all of it.

If you contradict or question this behaviour or the community, you automatically are removed from their group. If the faulty part is removed, the community remains pure and therfore no gray areas remain, where a member of the supposedly angelic group WAS behaving contrary to their principles.

And every single side character has their own wants and needs and in-depth backstory. And that she has her own in-depth backstory but she's considered a main character but she doesn't have her own wants and needs? I think that's done on purpose and something she is going to have to work through. That's the only reason she makes a deal with Alistair. She was the one who was so adamant about no one making any deals with him about anything. And that's one of the first things she does. He's like well you don't have to make the deal and Charlie can come home to absolutely nothing (when speaking about making the commercial). And Charlie wouldn't have cared. She would have understood. She wouldn't have gotten angry at Vaggie, there would have been no consequences. But Vaggie is still trapped in that mindset of an exorcist angel so much so she made a deal.

I'm not sure about it myself. I can see it a little, but a few things come to mind that would break that theory down. First, Adam already knows what Lute looks and sounds like, so if she was actually Eve, he would have given some sort of indication by now and acknowledged her in some way instead of treating her like an afterthought a lot of the time. Second, Lucifer is implied to have had relations with Eve when he gave her the forbidden fruit. He's also very perceptive even despite his depression, as shown when he first met Vaggie and glanced above her head for a brief moment as though he saw where her halo had once been and warmed up to her fairly quickly, possibly from knowing that she was also a fallen angel in addition to being Charlie's girlfriend. So, keeping this in mind, I'm sure that he would have said something about Eve being there if that was the case.

@@RyuKaguya DanGamingFan2846, he’s literally someone who shows up in Every video (Pop Culture, Reactions, etc..), but the one thing that makes him suspicious is his knack on posting a comment and soon gets to 5-10 or 20 likes within a minute suggesting he’s a bot or someone purchasing likes which literally no user tends to do that even most of the comments posted tend to get 1-4 likes within one to two minutes. Not to mention he tends to try to delete and repost his comments just to gain attention and be popular which shows his narcissistic side of things. Even when I ask him how he gets to so many likes he deletes his response and reposted them again just showing how callous he is.

Technically Vaggie isn’t a fallen Angel… she’s still just an Angel that lives in hell… Hear me out… Vaggie was ‘cast out’ yes… by Lute and Adam… but I would bet anything that they don’t have the power to actually do that… Lute brutalised Vaggie and her and Adam left her to die, not expecting that of all people, the one person in hell with a heart (Charlie) would find her and help her… I doubt they would have told Sera and the other higher ups, who have the power to cast people from heaven what happen… Vaggie showed a child (hell born or sinner or not) mercy and as a result, she was mutilated and left for dead…

I think it would be interesting to see a video on vox and his obsessive, controlling behaviour / traits. Especially when it comes to Alastor and his seemingly desire to be noticed or gain his attention, even despite their rivalry.

Interesting video. I really love Adam and Lute and I always thought they acted like members of a cult. Will there be a video about Sera? I'd like to know something about their leader. I have the impression that she is the cause of the behavior of Adam and Lute: she should be Adam's guide, but she only calls him to give him orders, she doesn't help him understand his mistakes... The impression is that she doesn't care about him at all. And with Emily... I don't know. Does she act more like a mother, or like a cult leader? It seems that Sera treats her like a child, Sera says she does this to protect her... It just reminds me the way cult leaders try to convince their subordinates not to think, not to ask questions, so that they can take control of their lives and do what they want. We don't know what will happen in the second season, but I fear that things will get really bad for Lute now that Sera will have to deal with her directly.

Great video! I want to add that cults aren't always "official" organizations. I had an abusive "mean girl" best friend for almost a decade. She absolutely was "Adam" to the friend circle's "exorsists." A real like Regina George, so to speak. She had different jobs that were assigned to her friends. She didn't usually voice these jobs, but read between the lines, and they are there. She did slip quite a bit around me during the time she lived in my house. She literally told me when I expressed my concerns about my homicidal ideations and how they manifested around protecting her (in part), and she said, "That is why I keep you around." I was so whipped that I took it as a compliment at the time! I'm so glad to be free of her!

When you put it that way, Lute could have her character arc go in two directions. Especially if she meet Sir Pentious (which I hope doesn't end badly!) She becomes more ardent in their belief. Or may think for herself since there's not a whole lot of people stopping her from thinking.

I think Adam is also more than a narcissist. Considering he was the first man its hard to be anything else other than an egotist. Its clear there was something else in him other than the douchebag we are presented with (which unfortunately was most likely an improvement to him before hand) But on Lute I think she understood him more than anyone, probably his most positive female relationship period, she doesn’t fall to her knees for him, puts him in his place if she has to, but also puts up with his shit because she knows its fake bullshit. I think Adam’s mostly all talk insecurity personally, being left by the woman made for him Lute probably wanted to be there for him as a “wing man” and Adam probably understood she accepted him for who he was, think thats all he really wanted. I wanna see where Lute goes from a character perspective really badly, IF Adam reincarnates how would she feel about having to kill the person she looks up to alot.

You should do the Vee’s! For Valentino maybe put a warning or only do “what environment creates an abusive person” so it shows what environments causes these types of people to exist in the first place? Maybe they can prevent it before it happens and spills over. He’s definitely the worst to exist. For Vox and Velvette (probably spelled wrong) I think they follow a somewhat similar pattern of modern technology and status than Val. That should be interesting to make! Also Vox costume would be funny 😂

Can't say much about Lute's character for now, just one observation. In Episode 6: The moment Lute starts to sing together with Adam, she pulls her Mask down. So she may not agree to much with him. in fact, the full "Armor" of of all the Excorzist-Angels is interesting. They are all literally covered from toe to hair tip as if they are not supposed to be individuals. Their mask has all one eye shut / crossed out. The mouthes of their Masks is always depicted as being sewn shut. As if they are supposed to be half blind / not speak about heaven's hypocrisy. Add to that, that Adam seemingly was allowed to name them + that they are all Girls/Women, and it paints a very different picture, than just "Evil Armee" of Angels.

One of his favorites. Lute probably did not like the competition. Also, it could be that Lute has deep insecurities about loneliness and abandonment.

Okay, this might be a crazy parallel, but this "cult of personnality" thing reminds me of Fizzaroli in _Helluva Boss_ and his status as a marketable idol - even though it has nothing in common with Adam, Luthe, or their Exorcist Cult. No joke, the characters in this side show would warrent an analysis. I feel like they're even more broken than in _Hazbin Hotel._ :/
