I know I've commented this once before (and after this I'll try not to do it again) but you might not have seen it the first time. Hi, I really like Kakegurui, and I know it's not really popular anymore but I'd love it if you analysed some of the Kakegurui characters (Midari and Kirari especially) because I loved your video on Liv, and all the videos on Hazbin Hotel characters I've seen. I get the feeling that when Husk was an Overlord, he used to be a real piece of scum. After having Alastor’s boot on his neck for so long, he’s come to the realisation that he hates who he was when he had that power and is trying, in small ways, to amend himself by making an effort to understand people.

Part of the reason that Husk is singing joyfully at the end when rebuilding the hotel was the belief that Alastor was dead. Meaning that his soul was no longer owned by someone else. But then Alastor pops up and the smile on Husk's face fades.

He really surprised me, honestly. I expected more than we got in the pilot (obviously), but I didn't foresee this aspect of his personality (the kindness, the world-weary-but-still-kind (most of the time) attitude. I think he won me over when he went out of his way to make Sir Pentious feel like part of the group. It's interesting how well Alastor did picking him out for the hotel. ('picking him out' of Alastor's probably endless supply of those who made deals with him, I mean).

@@KyrieChii Absolutely, I would probably think that Husk learned his lesson on his gambling and how dangerous it can be. And now that is now soul-bound himself he's learn the hardships and to cope with it and even probably saved him in the end.

The fact that Husk dislikes when people are hiding behind a fake front , a mask... A "Poker-face" if you will 😉 is really funny to me since he is a gambler 😄

It makes sense, though. The more predictable someone is, the safer they are and the better you can make your bets. Reading under a mask was probably what made him such a powerful gambler to begin with. Of course he likes predictable and honest people more.

Something you didn't mention about the angle Husk is taking in Loser Baby -- he's telling Angel that the beliefs he has ingrained about himself are true, but it's okay. It's hard to change someone's beliefs about themselves. You can tell them, "hey, you're not a loser, don't say that about yourself," but they won't stop believing it just like that. So instead, Husk says, "you think you're a loser? Well, you're correct, but that's okay! Maybe we can be losers together."

Yep! The first step to improvement is accepting the problem. Don’t hate yourself for your faults or use them as reasons to isolate yourself- just take them as they are, find understanding, then “excuse yourself” and “let hope in” that you can grow past that point. Rock bottom isn’t rock bottom if you aren’t holding yourself down in the pit, and I really like how Husk met Angel where he was at emotionally instead of pretending he wasn’t seeing himself honestly. He saw himself just fine- it was his treatment of what he saw that was the problem.

Husker and Alastor share a similarity in the sense they both will tell you exactly like it is whether it hurts you or not, the difference between that is that Husk is doing it to benefit you while Alastor just wants to see you in pain and misery.

There's quite a few times where Husker holds his tongue because he knows how deeply he could cut at that moment. Specifically a few times with Angel Dust, where he ends up unleashing it anyways because Angel kept pushing his boundaries. He's definitely not like Alastor at all, Husker does not fire first.

I especially enjoy the duality between Husk and Alastor. They've known each other a long time from what we can tell, but it's clear that Alastor puts up a bright front while hiding a distinct lack of care, but Husk puts up a dark shell while hiding a deeply caring, emotional heart

Alastor puts on a smile so you can't ever tell what he's feeling, letting him manipulate better Husk puts on a frown so people think he doesn't care and are more open to telling them things. Effectively the same tactic from the other angle.

One of the things you didn't mention really is that is "Loser, Baby" when he grabs Angels hand he isn't actually really grabbing Angels hand! Husk holds out his hand and actually waits for Angels actual consent and let Angel grab his hand instead of forcing Angel to hold his hand. Just thought it was a cute touch you didn't point out/notice! I love these videos, keep up the good work! (Especially love the Lucifer one, helped me recognize my own depression, tysm for these awesome videos 🫶🏽 )

I like that Husk wouldn't allow anyone to be drugged in front of him. I've heard a few bartenders say, " Once I serve the drink, it's not my problem." I know he didn't serve the drink.

@pannik_lucas He's nothing like them. A bartender I knew in New York City said to me that getting involved in other people's affairs is a clear way to retaliatory beat down later. I was saying that while he didn't serve the drink, he still maintained the habit of eyeballing drinks to prevent foul play.

I don’t know if someone already said this. Husk wasn’t talking about Angel being rude when he said that Angel was pushing he’s boundaries. He was talking about how Angel is constantly sexually harassing him and making him uncomfortable. I agree that you should treat people kindly regardless, but I feel like Angel should’ve also been called out for what he was doing.

I mean, he sorta does? Not by words but actions, Angel barely treats Husk like he used to after episode 4 and just talks to him casually, Husk seems more comfortable and even smiling at him, if we go for episode 8, Angel basically just makes a sex joke but one that Husk gets along with it, Angel *can* be flirty but by respecting boundaries as that can be mutual.

I find it very interesting that Husk died when he was a human in his 60s-70s. He is the oldest deceased human among the Hazbin Hotel's Sinners since everyone else died very young. Due to this, Husk has more experience in life than any of the protagonists (Charlie is 200 years old and immortal, but she is still somewhat of an optimistic child because Lucifer and Lilith sheltered her for most of her life). Out of all the Hazbin Hotel staff, he hates Alastor not because the Radio Demon owns his soul but because Alastor is the epitome of selfishness, evil, and cruelty. Husk knows Alastor is so insecure he is willing to do unbelievable things, like make a deal with a powerful demon, to stay powerful (Alastor has racism trauma).

I love that Husk goes from saying in the pilot “I lost the ability to love years ago” to being willing to risk permanent death for his friends, talk about growth

I think Husk is meant to be a sort of hyper-stylized gryphon. Mostly a cat (judging by his feline features and colors, maybe a Lynx/ bobcat?), the wings and long tail with a puffy tip (akin to a lion tail) are general traits of Gryphons!

Something I like from Loser baby scene is that Husk never directly grabs Angel's hand; he offers his hand first for Angel to take it.

I dont think its just angle being "fake" but the "pushing my bounderies" that husk really dislikes, because he is always touching and flirting with him when husk wasn't in the mood for it, they weren't that close before this episode as friends let alone anything else. Husk always did look uncomfortable when angle flirts and gets in his personal spce

Well the pushing boundaries was part of Angel's facade. That's why Husk said those things together.

In the Pilot, when Vaggie is explaining Alastor’s story of taking Overlords, you can see Husk’s outline (and Niffty’s too, I believe). He’s also in other background frames, and I’m so happy that they kept the idea that he was an Overlord canon. Now… If our little gremlin ends up being a previous deal maker, I’m going to lose my mind laughing 😂

Alastor wouldn't make a deal that wouldn't benefit him. And his level of power, a regular sinner wont do anything for him. Anyone he's made a deal with will be a notable player from back in the day. An overlord or a similar thing. I love how we see Nifty and Alastor seem to legit get along before the battle. Which i think stems from. She's powerful (being an Ex Overlord like Husk) but, as she says. Likes being forced. So she doesn't push back against Alastor's control like Husk does. She leaves him being the boss and her being her crazy self. She gets a powerful 'bad boy' to boss her around, and he gets a powerful, loyal minion who's as unpredictable as he is

You missed in the ending song, when Alistair comes back and Husk realizes he isnt dead and his contract isnt void, he loses all his cheerfulness. Poor husk :(

I also really just love the way Husk’s dance with Angel is when you compare it with how Val treats Angel in Poison. Val is shoving Angel around, choking, pushing, etc very violent, and Angel has to just go along with it. Husk is guiding, it’s nothing too close or intimate until Angel starts to sing along and gets close. Husker doesn’t keep Angel trapped in the dance, which I think is really sweet. Angel can pull away and Husk would let him do that

What i love about the looser baby song is that Husk is giving Angel tough love, saying not what he wants to hear but what he NEEDS to hear. Basically letting him know that mistakes are what make you human and don't define you as a person. I never expected this show to handle heavy topics so well but it did. As someone who is a survivor it's nice to finally feel seen as to what the harsh reality of trauma does to someone. It feels funny to say but that was a really healing moment for me. Get yourself someone like Husk.

It's interesting to me to see how polarizing Loser Baby is (but I understand why), especially among survivors. Some survivors like you say that it made them feel seen and they loved it even if it's tough love. I've also seen other survivors say it was deeply upsetting that Husk called Angel, who's going through major hardships, a "Whiney loser bitch" and it's not how you should speak to SA survivors. Because of that, they say Viv and her team are incapable of handling SA with compassion. I'm sure you know, but I've seen so many arguments about it...

I'm not even sure it's tough love so much as engaging and continuing to engage with the real Angel and how Angel views himself. Because the vast majority of Husk/Angel interactions up to then involve Angel putting on the mask and embodying the persona he feels he needs to be I think Husk has a pretty legitimate worry that Angel will slip back into the persona if given half a chance, if who he really truly is isn't being engaged. I'm fairly certain that a bunch of nice sounding platitudes won't keep Angel engaged, he'll just ignore it the same way he ignores Charlie until he's gathered himself together enough to put the mask back on and they're back at square 1. It sets the stage for Angel keeping the mask down around Husk and as stated not long thereafter, he ain't half bad and that's only something that can be said as Angel allows himself to be seen.

It's really interesting to me how Husk reacts so differently to Alastor's treatment and acknowledgement of his animalistic traits in a derogatory way, compared to Angel directing Nifty's attention to those traits to help mollify her and help her with emotion management in what's likely a pretty tricky situation for her to navigate. He does express annoyance, but it almost feels like a Formality instead of genuine ire- he is entirely content with these features being a source of comfort and safety for his circle, so long as it is not making a mockery of him. I definitely don't think Angel could have done that with him if their little Clubbing night with Cherri had happened before Angel and Husk had their duet and got on the same page.

The scene in which Husker makes a comment about the "interrogation" scene in Angel's movie had nothing to do with a desire to insult Angel. He didn't say Angel's acting was bad- he said the script was bad. He was insulting Valentino. He was expecting Angel to agree with him so they could roast Valentino together. I think in a roundabout way, he was suggesting that Angel deserves better. Better scripts, better work environment, etc. Because let's face it- that scene was NOT realistic in any way. Adult films are notorious for having bad scripts. Angel took the comment as a dig at his acting skills, which was NOT Husk's intention with his comment. Then the argument snowballs from there.

The ears in the hat are really cute. Husk seems to have the most emotional awareness of the hotel residents, but has trouble making connections with people because of his gruff exterior. When you've earned his respect though, he lets you know. I'm really excited to see him and Angel keep growing together.

The two types of respect are respecting a person as a human being, or respecting a person as an authority. Usually when someone says "respect is earned" it comes with the connotation of "you had better respect me as an authority, or I won't respect you as a person" I once had a coworker that treated me as utter garbage but demanded that I "respect my elders" she was expecting me to allow her abuse without any pushback. She didn't like that I wasn't afraid of her, and wouldn't kiss her shoes.

I know the type OP is talking about. That said, this is not what I mean when I say respect is earned. For me, that is what I would say to that abusive elder. The problem is we don't all agree on what the word respect represents. What everyone, including elders, deserves is patience and politeness. Respect is a whole other beast. I can't say I can truly respect someone before I get to know them because that respect comes from knowing them as a person.

I believe that decency respect should be a given until lost and if someone expects you to earn it they will never decency respect you. I also believe that deference respect needs to be earned.

With Finale he is singing with them when he believed Alastor is dead. Alastor is the reason for a lot of his trauma and it shows when he’s singing happily in the song and then Alastor comes back and he makes the biggest frown and doesn’t sing anymore. He felt secure in where he was because he was only around trusted allies. I feel like his guard is up in the hotel specifically because he can’t trust Alastor. It takes him awhile to trust others but in the 6 months they spent together he learned to trust the rest of them.

I’m BEGGING for a video on the vees! Vox’s mask crumbling and his mental spiral at the mere MENTION of Alastor, Velvette’s attitude toward the other overlords, and Valentino’s… everything… would make for a really interesting analysis!

I like the think husk is so good at reading people as a gambling skill. being able to read people's poker faces is very valuable. it also explains why he lost to Alistor. Husk couldn't get a read on him.

Because Husk and Spawn share the same voice actor, I always think that Spawn is talking in the show. 😂 He’d fit in perfectly in the show in my opinion. Also, Niffty is one of my favorite Hazbin characters.

For me, it was really cute the moment Husk used his umbrella so Angel wouldn't get dirty from the guy vomiting on him. He could have just warned him, but he protected Angel from getting dirty instead as if it was something natural. That moment showed, to me, that he can be a really kind person.

Husk is so terrified of Alastor, after their confrontation when the chain disappears he stays on the floor trembling. I think that says more about how dangerous Alastor is than anything else in the show -- that Husk, who's usually so calm and who can see right through everyone, is THAT frightened of him. Makes me wonder how much Alastor has mistreated him in the past. :(

One of the things I like most about Husk as a character is his desire for authenticity. The lack of desire for fakeness and superficiality is something I find I can really relate too. It sometimes feels like all society cares about is how well people act like they fit in, and doesn't care at all about how people actually are, leaving society feeling shallow and conceited.

I can understand why Husker is the way that he is. Honestly, my favorite parts of Husker are when he isn't being a grump because, just like Angel, that's his mask to the rest of the world or group. His true self finally comes out when he's talking to Angel and actually starts to develop alongside him. In many ways, Husker is learning to trust just as Angel is learning to let go. In a weird way, their dance during the "We're both losers" song is much like their growth. They pull and push, but in a syncronized way that feels like the waves of an ocean. It feels natural to push and pull between trust and reliance between these two.

28:25 Fun Fact! If you look close, you can see Husk's pupils get bigger every time he looks at angel dust!! ^^

My hypothesis is because Husk is a gambler that can read people so accurately that he was repulsed by Angel's advancements because they weren't genuine. He might have been open to Angel's advancements if it was Anthony trying to make a genuine connection, but Angel kept pushing with fake come ons

About Husk taking Angel's hand. He actually holds his hand out, and Angel places his hand in Husk's hand.

A note: Husk mentions how Angel pushes his boundaries, and that's a valid reason to be pissed at someone. He did ask him to back off over and over, I would also show no respect towards someone harassing me like that

I don't think he can tell Nifty what to do, you'll notice he didn't summon her like Husk, he just created a portal for her to come through on her own accord. She decided everything she's done. No one has ordered her.

I figured Husk was also annoyed with Angel because he kept getting inside his personal space. Hence why he snapped at Angel at the minibar.

Loser baby was genuinely amazing. I remember as a child everyone was telling me "no, you're not a loser, you're amazing" but i never saw myself as anything but a failure and them saying that made me feel like i was failing them as i wasnt what they wanted me to be. I wish someone would have said "where you are now is fine, it's ok to fail" because that would have helped me so much.

I'm excited for this one. Husk is my favorite character in this show. Beneath that gruff exterior is someone who really cares, if you let him. I'm glad he and Angel have eachother for support.

The husk hat is so well done and adorable. Also I feel so called out about the mask thing, I've sometimes ripped off people's masks on accident, especially when they are coming to me for advice. It helps to learn to ask for permission if you can get blunt or dig deep, that way it's not accidentally unmasking someone before they're ready and they have an overall better reception to it. Also, as another perspective on the song, the word "loser" sounds harsh, but really all it means is that you've lost in some way. I personally find the song super comforting because it's about how it's okay to lose sometimes, and you don't have to be overly harsh on yourself for "being a loser".

"Get out of here, man" it's such a small throw away thing. But I think it is very important. That stuff with male friend groups is very welcoming.

My favorite moment from Husk comes at the end where he is singing happily with the others until Alastor joins them. The look on his face, "Crap he's still alive... "

25:09 What I also really like about Husk in this moment is that he has literally *zero* incentive to go up and do this. Warning Alastor does not benefit him in any way; if Mimzy gets in trouble and leaves, if Alastor dies, he benefits either way. But you can see him _notice_ that Alastor sounds just a teensy bit on edge, and his perceptiveness and growing attachment to the hotel group seems to push him to do something he really probably shouldn't. Alastor's line of "it's nothing I can't handle!" after Husk mentions that he's seen this happen _repeatedly_ really made me consider Husk's empathy more than before, because Husk would be completely justified (even moreso in this particular scene) in not having any concern with what or how much Alastor is dealing with, but he just can't seem to help himself.

A thing I love about "The Show Must Go On" is that Alastor is presumed dead, Husk's entire reason for being at the hotel is (as far as he knows) void, but he chooses to stay, to give Charlie her hope back, and to rebuild the hotel.

Husk 100% reminds me of my boyfriend. From the way he is emotionally to how he treats others due to his trauma, mistakes and boundaries. He's a MASSIVE comfort character for both of us and I love his relationship with Angel because it reminds me entirely of my bf and I learning to bring our walls down around each other and talk about how we're damaged and learn while we're socially different with how we are around people, we're not that different. "Loser, Baby" is my truest comfort song and my boyfriend listens to me sing it all the time. Huskerdust OTP and comfort ship for life ❤❤

I adore Husk. He’s exactly the friend Angel desperately needed.

Yay Husk!! One thing I love is that he gets to a point that when he’s looking at Angel, his pupils dilate. They actually animated it!! (It’s something we do as well, but it’s really noticeable with cats. The time it’s most noticeable is at the end of episode 7, when Angel pulls him and Pentious into that hug. He’s looking down and Charlie and Vaggie and his pupils are their normal narrow width, then he gets yanked in, blinks, and comes out looking at Angel with his pupils blown huge. And when he looks back at Charlie and Vaggie again, his pupils shrink back down, but not fully.

When Husk is sitting next to Angel and tells him "I used to be an Overload you know" he's also saying look where I was and now I'm singing in the exact same place you are. I can't really look down on you when I've lost so much more.

You can tell how much Georgia loves this show.

Husk's and Dust's bromance really touches me, somehow.

@@terrizoop3739 nope, made by Viv's sister as a birthday gift and Viv repurposed him into Angel's friend. If they were meant to be romantically involved has never been confirmed

I feel it's also worth noting that Husk didn't just *take* Angel's hand. He extended his own and *waited* for Angel to take it. Giving Angel the choice, for once in his afterlife, to initiate contact or not, was probably a pretty big deal for Angel.

I think it’s when Husk uses “tough love” on Angel that Angel finally starts to really hear Husk’s words. The sort of straight to the point advice from a father, uncle, or brother type that isn’t candy coated. If Charlie tried to give Angel the same advise, she would say it in a softer and gentler way so as to not hurt Angel’s feelings. That would not have worked on Angel.

One of my childhood mentors once said "Some of the coldest people, were once the warmest people, some of them still are but the world has taught them their warmth causes pain." I love Husk. He's my favorite character. I joke that its because I'm old that I like the old man, but he's got wisdom and insight no one possesses in the show. I can't wait for your to talk about Niffty. Lots of people say she was the obsessive stalking housewife. But for me, I feel like she was taken advantaged off. Her bio says shes a housewife, but her wears a poodle skirt which was more popular for teens. She's into "bad boys" which during that time would be Greasers, she's clearly a wild peppy girl. SHe's also coming off the generation of the Riveter girls who suddenly lost their jobs and stuffed back into a box. And in the pilot she even said "Its been a while since I've had any friends." Which to me sounds like she was purposefully isolated, by someone. She is obsessed with killing pest via stabbing, is vibrating at the sight of cleaning solutions, and even said she kills "mother bugs in front of their children", does not flinch at Angel's video, had a penchant for violence, so it does sound like her had difficulty with someone older than her and her "Cleaning" is a way of "Cleaning and scrubbing away" someone's negativity from her life..then probably did the final clean with fire. As many hobbies have said "I embroider because I can stab something a thousand times over". Something gives me the feeling she bottled a lot of negativity and high expectations onto her, that she often brewed in the ways she could end it, and finally put those intrusive thoughts into motion and performed the expectations to a compulsion.

I honestly think Husk was happiest in "The Show Must Go On" before Alastor came back in because not only was he with friends, but Alastor was presumed to be dead. A few videos I've watched pointed out that Husk's smile immediately dropped as soon as Alastor came in to show the gang that he wasn't dead, though it does come back later on at the very end of the song.

I think Husk feels like what I think an optimist based in cynicism looks like. Very sincere and typically self-controlled. The glass is half-full, not full, but at least it ain't empty. Optimism is nice, but a lot of the examples we tend to think of seem to lean closer to idealism. There's not a problem in the world. I think the best side of optimism is being able to see the bright SIDE, which by proxy admits there is basically nothing that's perfect, but that's fine as it is. Idealists can get lost in the blemishes in life. The problems. Not many people will earnestly CHOOSE pessimism. Husk is someone who doesn't seem to choose optimism either, which I think makes his genuinely positive moments so great. He doesn't have to consciously "be happy" because if he is, he is. That sincere vibe can really spark a strong light for others, I'd say he's the character with the most potential to shine brightest, honestly. Even if just for a passing moment.

I think a part of the reason Husk was happy at the end Is that everyone thought Alastor was gone so he thought his soul was free until Alastor came back, he went back to being Grumpy.

another thing id like to add: during the fight with the exorcists husk and angel have a split second interaction where angel turns one of husks comments into a sexual joke. I feel like in earlier episodes that comment really wouldve annoyed or even gotten husk angry in a way, but in that moment he kind of just laughs it off and goes along with it because of just how much he's warmed up to angel and begun to understand him. yay character development also side note I'd love a therapist analysis from characters in hazbin's sister show, "Helluva Boss" if you'd ever be interested in delving into it!

around 15:37 and I feel like husk is right with the "maybe I'd treat you better if you were real! and not some bullsh*t version of yourself, always pushin' my boundaries!" While kindness and respect are valid things to keep in mind, from experience they're not always the best to stick by. What I mean is: Husk is being brutally honest with Angel/Anthony while he hides behind a mask that's hard to take off, sometimes you need to be brutally honest in order to get through to somebody, even if its a tad bit harsh and disrespectful; going by how husk also says "I know what its like to regret choices made, and know when you can't take 'em back.." he can relate to angel in some way or another. Edit: I've been in a similar position as angel where I've needed to pretend to be something I'm not just for the sake of myself, honesty can help even if it hurts but keeping a persons feelings in mind can help along the way too

The reason I love Loser Baby is because the foundation of Twelve Step recovery groups is the "we're similar" message. Even though it's not considered a very therapeutic term anymore, I know a lot of people in recovery that still prefer the term addict because the ability to boil their problem down to a single word makes it more manageable.

Husk is voiced by Keith David. He has voiced Spawn, Dr. Facillier in the Princess and the Frog, and Goliath the gargoyle in the animated series “Gargoyles” among other roles.

One thing I want to point out, you mentioned how happy Husk is during the final song, look at the frames immediately after Alastor appears again - Husk goes from all Smiling and Excited, to really angry and upset looking on a dime.

Got to love Husk as a character, he might be a grumpy cynical bartender in the exterior, but deep down he cares for his friends especially Angel Dust after he protected and rescued him from some Demon Shark Gangsters who wanted to Drug him and then leading into the talk between the two on how he was once an Overlord and gambler until he lost a match against Alastor who has his contract on him and removed his status as Overlord. Still, it does to one of the best musical numbers in "Loser Baby" Definitely would to love to see you go over Vaggie and Carmila Carmine, mainly the former because besides Angel, Husk and Sir Pentitious, Vaggie had one of the best character evolutions and developments she went in the show from not just being Charlie’s voice of reason and girlfriend but also her protector and it’s mostly noticeable in Episodes 3 and especially 6-8 where she had her moment to shine.

Husk is my favorite character, and since I know that he and Angel are meant to become a couple, I am really looking forward to their development. I am glad the first season spent time on them building a friendship and understanding of trauma. I would have hated for it to be rushed.

I think an important thing to mention is Husk mentioning that Angel was constantly violating his boundaries. Angel did it multiple times, and it may seem like a small thing but I think it was definitely a big contributor towards his attitude with Angel. Its hard to be respectful towards someone who constantly pushes your boundaries especially if you and that person are barely friends to begin with

Husk reminds me a bit of my grandpa. He has a rough surface (I assume because he grew up in post war Germany) but he cares deeply for everyone in the family and while he doesn't talk much, everything he says is 100% sincerity without any sugar coating.

Husk Got A Great Arc In The Series. Not Only Did He Do That Duet With Angel, But During The Battle With The Angels, He Put His Arms Between The Angels & The Other Cast.

15:56 okay this part is the only critique i have . Angel was still disrespecting his boundaries. I don't blame him for how he treated Angel since he kept disrespecting hus boundaries. Yes Angel is dealing with his own problems and this is how he copes/mask himself Husk didn't know the full extent of that and even if he did doesn't mean he should tolerate it. While it is true that you should treat ppl with respect and kindness you also shouldn't put up with someone who makes you feel discomfort regardless if they're going through something or not.

Something I noticed in the music video that I think is really nice is that neither Husk nor Angel actually just take the other's hands. They offer a hand and allow the other to close the gap, to make that connection if they feel comfortable. It's like what you said about sitting close enough to show the person that you're there but far enough away to give them breathing space. Husk specifically is giving Angel natural feeling ways to give consent and let that be respected

I would love to see Georgia talk about Helluva Boss, too. I think there's a lot of good analysis of Blitzø and Stolas especially.

I don't agree with the be respectful no matter what bit. Because that then should have applied to Angel, who has been harassing him and ignoring his boundaries since the pilot episode, as well. And it's not only been verbal, but in his personal space and actually touching him in ways he's clearly not comfortable with. By Masquerade, Angel has been harassing him for weeks even though he's been clear that he doesn't like it, in a situation that Husk has been forced into and can't actually just leave, and this is the first time that he's called him out this harshly. If Angel got really fed up, he could leave the hotel for as long as he wanted and never return if it suited him. If Husk got fed up with Angel, he still has to show up and work the bar every day until Alastor allows him to quit, if he ever does. It's a level of context that feels important to him as a character. I may agree that he took it too far, but how far should he have to be pushed and still respect the person pushing him? That said, the way their relationship has developed is my second favorite part of the show.

This! I felt like the show made it pretty clear between Vaggie calling it sexual harassment, Husk explicitly telling Angel that he's pushing his boundaries, and the way that (iirc) the only teasing of a sexual nature that Angel aims at Husk after they open up to one another is the very tame/mutual joking around of, "Ha!"/"Okay, I walked right into that one." Angel was absolutely the one in the wrong. It bothers me that fandom and, to a certain extent, even this video only seem to see Husk's character as what he can offer Angel. He's got his own CONSIDERABLE issues. Like you pointed out, the hotel is Husk's job. Angel's contract stipulates Val's control of him only extends as far as the studio. Ostensibly, Husk is on Alastor's leash 24/7. He's not a guest at the hotel; he's stuck there. And, yeah, he warms up to it, but Alastor showing up after a seven year absence to totally strip away his agency? He's allowed to push back when someone REPEATEDLY crosses the line in a space he can't walk away from.

i think Vivian said that Husks design was actually a gift her brother drew for her years ago, before hazbin and she decided to use him in the show. Hence why he has wings.

Sister, not brother I think. She went by Razz online and designed Husk as a gift, and Viv from the get-go planned him to be Angel's friend, back when they were characters in Zoophobia and not their own series.

Absolutely fun moment. Husk is my all time favorite character in the show with Alastor being a close second. I love that you analyzed Husk’s character and I can’t wait to see who’s next. Maybe a certain head seraphim?

There is a reason bartenders are also know as this sort of "working class therapist". People get drunk, are honest, tell the bartender how it is and they will try and either tell them "Look for the bright side" or "ignore those things"

I also appreciate that Husker always offers his hand to Angel and he waits for Angel to take his hand. Its such a small detail, but so sweet for him to wait for consent for physical touch.

He reminded me of my friend's grandpa who fought in Vietnam husk attitude reminded me of him

The problem is I don't think Angel would've ever opened up if someone wasn't harsh with him to begin with, and that despite how much he may have NEEDED that mask, he was never going to grow as an individual without it being, even if only temporarily, broken.

Also Husk waits for Angel to take his hand and doesn't yank him around like Val did, a respectful kitty indeed

When it comes to the designs of the sinners they are based on a lot of things related to how they lived, how they died, how they think and the reputation they had in life. Alastor is part deer because a Deer Hunter accidentally Killed him, Angel and his family are Spiders because they where in the Mob and thus a Web of Crime. For Husk he's a Winged Cat. A name for a cheater or someone seen as a cheater is Polecat. And a Gambler isn't going to stick around after the game so they would be called "Flighty". As a result Husker is a "Flighty Polecat".

Prickly pears _do_ have sweet centers, after all. I think my favorite indicator of how much Husk changed over the course of those six months is comparing his first speaking scene in the series proper to his involvement in the Finale song. Man’s gone from only being there because his boss was forcing him to willingly helping “Princess” rebuild her dream alongside his new best friend and the rest of the crew. I love the bar cat very much ❤ Also _LOVE_ the hat, Husk can hate how adorable he is all he wants, it doesn’t change him being adorable 😊

Huskerdust is a privilege to witness because it genuinely relates to me and my boyfriend, both of us having had mental breakdowns and come back better from them. My boyfriend puts up the smiling mask that angel does, and I put up the scowling mask like husk. We are good for each other, I think. I love him very much.

Loser baby is probably the best song of the show in my opinion. I’ve been listening it a lot these past weeks.

Been waiting for this character analysis love the cosplay as always. Keith David is the perfect voice for this character. You went deep like you always do in your analysis.

I love how, despite acting as the group therapist, Husk doesn’t always say the perfect things in every situation. It may seem small, but I feel like often in media, when a character is upset, the other character/s know the exact thing to say that’ll make everything sunshine and rainbows again. But, Husk is a flawed person (as we all are), and as far as I’m aware he doesn’t have a psychology degree, so, although in the end he does make things better, he still has to go through a lot of trial and error beforehand.

I love loser, baby so much as someone with a past that mirrors Angel's a lot, I even found it funny how the first time i listened to it i found my reactions mirroring his to a T. Its such a genius song, not just because husk is showing he accepts and relates to angel, but because it's showing angel its okay to be sad, to be hurt, to be upset. Its okay to mourn your situation. Angel shows time and time again that he blames himself for the way valentino and the others treat him because he feels he chose that life, he feels he put himself in that situation and thus shouldn't be feeling so bad about it. When husk tells his story and relates to angel he specifically also talks about "regretting choices you cant take back". By using the words he does (ex loser), husk is letting angel know that yes his situation DOES suck, and thats okay! It's okay for him to feel bad about it, to feel angry, to be frustrated. It's okay to mourn your situation and recognize that you are the loser in the situation. You are the one losing out on something, the one who got the short end of the stick. When the whole world wants to tell you "oh suck it up itll be okay" or just keep smiling!" husk is saying "it's okay to cry" in a way angel understands, and you even see angel turn around and almost take what is supposed to be an insult in with pride. He is accepting that his situation sucks and that he's not alone, it's normal to feel the way he's feeling regardless of how he ended up in that situation.He is letting go of some of that blame and embracing his emotions. I think that resonates a lot with me.

I'm still hoping for a an analysis on Frieren someday. She reads very autistically coded to me. Also an excellent cosplay opportunity.
