There’s a theory that says according to the deal, Lucifer couldn’t attack Adam “unprompted” he allowed the extermination as long as he and his family were safe. When Adam tried for Charlie’s life, he violated the agreement thus allowing Lucifer to enter the battle. In this world, binding can sometimes be literal so it’s possible he was magically restricted from entering until the agreement was nullified.

I was talking to my brother after we finished watching the series, and I was coming up with different ideas for how I think Alastor's arc might go. What I think would be my absolute favourite concept is this: Currently Alastor is only helping them because of the deal (which I'm assuming is with Lilith) and plans on going back to his old ways and betraying them once he finds a way around/out of the deal. Then over the course of the series Alastor does actually come around to Charlie's side, however he doesn't yet find a way out of the deal. Lilith is then revealed to be a bad guy and through the deal forces Alastor to betray Charlie & co. Finally though, with Charlie's help Alastor manages to get out of the deal and so ends up back on their side. Not sure how likely it is for it to play out that way, but I do think it'd be a lot more boring if Alastor did turn out to just be a villain & Lilith just gives me major 'true villain of the show' vibes for some reason.

@@Justin-gz3cp that makes sense. I personally tend to think of things from a plotline perspective, and so for me with the clues we have what I suggested feels like the most interesting direction - especially bcz personally I don't like when things take the most simple route, which is what Alastor finding out a way to break the contract & becoming a villain feels like. Tbf I don't care about whether Alastor gets redeemed or not, I just want him to be planning to betray Charlie, then realise that he'd actually prefer things to work out in Charlie's favour but be forced to betray her anyway because of the contract, and then finally the contract gets broken and he helps Charlie beat the main villain. It could 100% be all for his own selfish reasons and he's still a terrible person.

3:23 Well he's Lucifer - Satan is someone else in this show. Apparently this Hell is divided into seven rings each symbolising the seven deadly sins. Each ring has a different ruler. Satan is the ruler of another circle (either wrath or gluttony, I'm not sure), and I think Beezlebub is the ruler of another. Lucifer is ruler of the ring of the sin of Pride (because he takes pride in his creations - side note is the deadly sin pride or vanity? I'm always getting confused about that one), but he is also the ruler of the entire Hell - I guess pride is the biggest or the first ring, or it's the one that all the others stem from so that's why he's in charge of the entire Hell. All the other leaders of the rings answer to him - if he ever gave them orders.

A bunch of the sins have moved in and out of the list over the years. Vainglory, vanity, and acedia, specifically. Vainglory is pride in one's accomplishments, and was reinterpreted as vanity later, then later vanity was just lumped in with Pride. Acedia is uh. Callous indifference? Weaponized apathy? It's a good word. Later it got merged into Sloth, though imo it's extremely different.

Pride is considered the "worst" of all sins, because it was Lucifer's original sin that caused him to be cast from Heaven; he thought he could become greater than God. In this show, however, Lucifer's "Pride" seems to be that he had ideas to better Creation, and he tried to share them with Heaven, but because Heaven is a bunch of jerks they interpreted it as Lucifer thinking he was better than everyone else and decided to punish him.

The deer imagery that’s connected to Alister is related to how he died. When Alister was alive, he was a radio host, but he was secretly a murderer/cannibal. When he found someone he wanted to kill, he brought their bodies to a cabin in the woods to carve the bodies up. The way Alister died was he was bringing a body to his cabin, but he was mistaken as a deer by hunters and was shot and killed.

I just realized something.... sir pentious was a free soul in hell, what if theres not been many souls going to heaven due to the overlords, wether by design or accident, preventing souls from redemption by owning them? Carmilla mentioned that they own so many souls, valentino also mentioned he almost got all souls in the vicinity. It would also enable the story to progress with the core cast for a longer period of time even after they technically earned their redemption due to all being either in a deal or hellborn... Until the deals are broken or in another way nullified, which would also be an interesting finale for season 2 to get the contract of valentino and anthony broken, if i remember correctly viv once mentioned that 3 seasons are planned so far, would make sense to have 1 for the first redemption, one about the vees and how to get out of contracts and the final season revealing alastors true plans. But thats just speculation.

Alastor was a Radio host in the early 1920's to the early 30's (that's why he, in the Pilot episode, makes a joke about the stock crash of 1929 and the huge amount of orphans it left). During those years, he was a notorious serial killer that was never caught... ironically he was shot and killed by a hunter who mistook him for a deer while he was burying one of his victims. The creator of this series, VivziePop, wanted to add the Wendigo myth in the mix, which succeeded spectacularly. Alastor has cannibalistic tendencies and the sounds he produces when going full demon are indeed terrifying.

Personally, I think that it's clear that he never intended for the gang at the hotel to grow on him, but they did.. as he stated before the battle in episode 8. He then lamented that fact in his breakdown during the finale song. But, he is bound to Charlie for one reason or another, whether he wants it to happen or not, I think the gang is going to continue growing on him since he can't exit the situation. They could grow on him more, or he might grow to hate them. I could definitely see him growing more and more resentment towards them as his desperation to be free escalates. His part of the ending song really fascinates me because it's a rare glimpse into the man's mind without anybody else around to put on a face for. It's pretty clear to see that the idea of dying for 'friends' doesn't sit well with him at all, though I'm not sure the exact nature of his revulsion at the idea. It definitely gives the vibe that his involvement with the hotel isn't his own choice, and while at first his being bound to it through his deal was merely an inconvenience, this time it nearly got him killed. That's why I think he was freaking out so much; he's been trying to work out a plan to get out of whatever the deal is for a while, but the near-death encounter has him realizing he might not have as much time to figure it out as he thought. So my personal take on that scene is that he had been growing attached (to whatever degree he's capable, at least), but then upon having a 'wake up call' from nearly dying he mentally rejected the idea of any affections he might have been developing and redirected all of his thoughts to finding a way to gain his freedom back. He can't afford to get sentimental, he needs to focus on his goals. In this case, being the one 'pulling all the strings'. I honestly think his end goal is to take ownership of Charlie's soul, because with that he could make Lucifer do whatever he wanted. Hell, Lucifer would probably trade his own soul to free Charlie's. Bottom line, I don't think Alastor can be trusted. Though I admit that if he ended up being 'good' in the end I'd be very disappointed, so I don't know how much my own hopes are tainting my perceptions. I think he's an amazing character, and think he works best as a villain overall (while keeping us guessing until the end, of course).

What I'm hoping we'll find out about in season 2 is a bit more about Alastor's mother. What I'm pretty sure has been confirmed so far is that Alastor is from New Orleans and that in the 20s and 30s he was a radio host (a job which he enjoyed) and was also a serial killer (sort of a side hobby), and that he was shot when burying his latest victim by a hunter who'd mistaken him for a deer (re the deer motifs in his design). Some reckon he was a cannibal as well as a serial killer but that hasn't been confirmed. The story we've been given about his mother so far (I think) is that Alastor was a total mama's boy who was devoted to her. Some say she was the one who taught him the importance of smiling, some reckon they were both part of a weird cult and that that was where the cannibalism came from. Most recently however, the story is that she was a genuinely sweet lady who is now in heaven - we don't know if she knows anything about what Alastor got up to when he was alive or where he is now.

I am so prepared for the season 2 B plot where Pentious and Emily become besties and investigate the truth behind the exterminations and Heaven's hierarchy. Also, there's a brief cameo of Angel Dust's twin sister, Molly, during the 'Welcome to Heaven' song (pink-and-white spider-themed girl in one of the group shots, it's really obvious she's related to him once you spot her). I am predicting right now that Sir Pentious is going to continue to be the accidental lynchpin of this show's plot: Sera is going to swear him to silence so as not to cause a panic in heaven over a Sinner being redeemed, but Pentious is gonna meet Molly at some point and unintentionally mention that he knows her brother, leading to Heaven finding out he's from hell, and who knows how much shit will hit the fan after that reveal.

The reason why Alastor has Deer features is because of how he died. Alastor was a serial killer when he was alive and used to bury the bodies in a forest. Alastor was killed by a hunter mistaking him for a deer... if you see Alastor make a deal and that X on his forehead, i think that might be where the hunter shot him.... Angle Dust died of a overdose on his favorite drug "Angel dust" and that's why he's called that, plus what I think started him on drugs was because he was gay and that his family hated him for it, but I don't think his twin sister Molly does, you can see her in the background of the welcome to heave episode. and she's a spider demon too, like their whole mob family.. while Angel, his dad and brother went to hell, his twin molly went to heaven, I don't know about his mom though.

If he didn't eat the Apple he would not be covered in original sin and thus have a free pass to Heaven. But he also would not have knowledge of Good and Evil. Meaning he would not understand right and wrong. He would be in effect a sociopath. Add in a big dose of narcissism and you have the monster that is Adam and still allowed in Heaven. And the Angels don't know why he is in Heaven. But they don't determine who manifests in Heaven so they have to roll with it.

Emily's look to Sera when she tried to stop Adam from revealing the exterminations were going on. That is a look of betrayal right there. Episode 7: Sir Pentius with Key-Key. He's quickly becoming my favorite character in this series. Is it just me or is Carmilla the hottest lady in this series? Episode 8: Adam telling Lute to chill actually made me laugh. As for Pentius... Angel going "You did good, buddy." had me in tears. The fight between Adam and Lucifer had me rolling. No wonder Adam wanted to be in charge of the exterminations, he took Lucifer cucking him a little too personally. Final thought: I love that they have a statue of Dazzle in front of the hotel in memory of his sacrifice during the battle. Poor Razzle though.

Lucifer isn’t a bad person, and I love that. He’s just a man who has been broken down and had everything stripped away from him. Lucifer is OLD, he’s been in Hell since its creation, and we know Hell has around for at least 10,000 years, not to mention however long he was in heaven before being cast out, so yeah, Lucifer’s had a long time to think about things. Let’s not forget that part of Lucifer’s punishment was to never see the good that came from humanities free will. Since being cast into Hell he has only been able to see the bad that comes from humanity, so it makes sense he doesn’t see his people in the best light. I could talk about Lucifer for hours, his character is so well done and complex. I can confidently say Lucifer is my favorite character in the entire show so far.

So some theories. Lets start with Lilith. Cuz most of this revolves around her. Lilith stepped in and was trying to rally the demons together to try to get them to be a community with empathy for each other. Her powers are geared to persuasion. But she was being opposed by the more predatory Overlords and Heaven. The Overlords wanted the people divided and apathetic so they can prey upon them. So Lilith needed muscle because Lucifer was useless because he had lost his hope in humanity and fell into depression. So she grabbed the worst of the souls arriving in Hell and gave him a boost to his power. Thus Alastor sold his soul to her for his extreme power. But she constrained him to just target the predatory and merciless sorts in Hell. Specifically the predatory Overlords. And he was effective at it. He left the Overlords that showed signs of empathy and compassion such as Zestial and Carmilla. But he created a vacuum in the ranks which the Vees arrived and rapidly moved into as if they were being backed by someone as well. We will get to that backer later. Then when Alastor went to confront the Vees Vox managed to fight him to a standstill and Alastor was forced to retreat to lick his wounds. This left Lilith exposed and that is when Heaven sent Adam to confront her. And with his ego he came with an agenda. Eve is missing and probably in Hell because of original sin. So he told Lilith and Lucifer that if Lilith did not come back to him the exterminators would target Charlie and other Hellborn. Thus Lilith was forced to go to Heaven with Adam and the deal to not harm the Hellborn was sealed. Thus when Adam died Lute went back to Heaven and told Lilith that the deal was done because Adam was no more. And that Heaven now had a target on Charlie so if she wanted to protect her brat she better get back down there and get her in line. So the second season is geared up for the Vees being the primary antagonist. Heaven is going to be dealing with the blowback of Sir Pentious arriving in Heaven. Emily will be struggling to get Sera to change her mind. And probably be in talks with Charlie. Lute will be pushing to rebuild the exorcists and ramp up the militant military side of Heaven. And Alastor will be trying to find a way to break his contract. And probably towards the end of the season we will begin getting hits that someone is behind the Vees. Someone that wants to see everything burn. Eve is going to be the primary antagonist of season 3. Probably with Alastor under her or in a three way fight between her and Charlie. The cause of all this is that Eve ate the fruit of knowledge of good and evil. And she probably did her best to live a good life married to a sociopathic narcissist. And then when they died he went to Heaven and she went to Hell because she was in original sin and Adam wasn't. This would have pissed her off to no end. She is pissed at Heaven. She is pissed at Hell. And most of all she is pissed at Lucifer. She is out for blood. So Lilith is going to return to Hell in season 2 and initially try to stop Charlie. However because Charlie is essentially continuing Lilith's fight to unite Hell she will eventually win her over and she will turn her back on Lute and side with Charlie. She will probably join Lucifer in teaching Charlie how to fully use her powers instead of being afraid of them. I suspect that Lucifer is going to betray Charlie out of love. His fear of her being hurt is probably going to cause him to fall to his depression again and undercut her in order to try and pull her out of Heaven's target. I am equally sure they will reconcile and he will find his strength again. So eventually the fight will be between Eve, Alastor, and Charlie. Depending on whether Alastor keeps his power when he breaks his contract or not he may have to team up with Eve. But he would hate that. There is another possible player that could lend him power in the form of Roo aka the Root of All Evil. This is a hinted character that Viv put on the shelf for future consideration. She may boost Alastor instead of Eve. Thus creating a three way fight at the end. However I think Viv has been hinting that Alstor has been recognizing that his life may be better with Charlie in it. As a psychopath he cannot make real connections. However there is a thing called cognitive empathy which Sociopaths/Psychopaths can form where they recognize that some people are better off in their life and faking empathy works to enable that. So Alastor will probably turn on Eve and join Charlie in the end. Its just a theory. A Hellaverse Theory.

In Ancient Mesopotamia, demons were called lilus which means "little lilits" in reference to Lilith/Lilitu being their mother.Lamashtu and Lilith were both notorious for devouring the newborns of adultresses and corrupting their remains into demons, that`s where the first imps came from in occult tradition. Alastor is a psychopath. The grand majority of his actions are cold and calculated. His drive is for control, which is why he responds so badly to Lucifer. Like a narcissist, psychopaths have a grandiose sense of self-worth. Essentially, Lucifer, by simply being more powerful, takes control out of Alastor's hands, and psychopath doesn't like that. They'll do mostly anything in their manipulative power to get it back. So he uses all of Lucifer's insecurities in order to regain control of everything. This is called social engineering. You also see that he goes right up to Charlie's room when she's alone and emotionally vulnerable. Essentially when she's most suggestible. Most people in this kind of state are easy to persuade into doing almost anything. Instead of freely giving away his information he strikes a deal with her (Note that he worded it YOU hurt noone). Funnily enough, even psychopaths can feel a shallow sense of pride and emotion.

Even though Charlie is our main character and we want to root for her, it's difficult to not see where Lucifer is coming from. From Lucifer's immortal POV, the human race is not becoming better with time. Because if they were, why do people keep going to hell in such massive numbers? And to add insult to injury, being in hell puts Sinners in an environment where they are 100% free to become the worst version of themselves, without any consequences or repercussions. And they usually do. Lucifer just does not want his daughter to waste her compassion on these people when the odds are they don't want to change.

Alastor to me both is and isn't as bad as he seems. He strikes me as an arrogant narcissist (which is apparently a hot take because people REALLY want to see him as this overpowered ultimate villain badass, whereas I think that's literally his front that he WANTS people to perceive him as). His explanation to Charlie about smiles said it all to me - going back and rewatching the show and paying attention to Al's EYES instead of his smiles reveals a lot of posturing and calculated moves to me. He wants to be on top but he knows he isn't even close to the most powerful thing in hell, he's like upper-middle rung of the power scaling ladder iirc. It was ballsy of him to challenge Adam in the first place, there was no way he could ever have won that fight with no angelic weapon! So the thing about people irl like Alastor is that they are not without emotion, quite the opposite, but they tend to (not always! But often) look at their attachments as an extension of their own ego. I think he now sees the hotel as HIS, and Charlie as his to groom into a powerful pawn under him, and these attachments make any threat to them a personal attack on HIM. I don't think he realized that attachment was forming, so it shook him to his core that he almost risked his life and his plans for it. Even if the attachment comes from an egocentric place it still reads like genuine caring and that is confusing him and freaking him out. That's my take anyhow.
