Merci !

Wow! This is really fine, articulate, characterful playing. Pisarenko's attack is perfectly weighted - crisp but not aggressive - and his tempo choices really serve Haydn well. I didn't think I could be more impressed than I was by his playing of Une barque sur l'océan but this is magnificent. We're fortunate to have so many extraordinarily talented young pianists on the scene at the moment - Daniil Trifonov, Benjamin Grosvenor, Igor Levitt, Beatrice Rana, and, on this evidence, Vitaly Pisarenko too - who're willing and able to combine interpretative personality and a real enjoyment of the music with tremendous technique. It's a golden age for pianophiles.

I totally agree about a golden period for pianophiles. I add the chance to use KZread as much as we want. Even if I know that we are the marketing target. The best to you

i like very much Jeno Jando's prformance, where the 1st mov. is a laser ray, but this is a committed and praiseworthy performance as well.

Joyful? An E minor sonata? Rather thoughtful and introspective, I'd say. Unless you are still anchored to the old obsolete image of Haydn.

A performance spoiled and seriously flawed by ignoring the da capo markings, otherwise it the playing is thoughtful, sensitive but powerful. The ‘…joyful Haydn’ is simply a meaningless and irrelevant stereotype lifted from who knows where; listen to the music before appending cut and paste cliches.
