Haydn Miller Lifeboat Launch at RNLI Tenby.

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Tenby’s Tamar class all-weather lifeboat housed inside a modern slipway station situated on the north side of Castle Hill.
Great experience to witness the launch while me and Tiffany where on holiday. Thought I would share the launch.
P.S. Want to support the channel ? This helps me get more time to get out more and film more. Which I really enjoy doing and sharing. Paypal email is : back_charles@yahoo.com
Thanks

Never fails to impress me… I remember so many times as a kid hearing the maroons going off (before pagers) in Barmouth N Wales I would run to the inshore station or just around the corner you could see the larger lifeboat station with its ramp . To see volunteer crews running out of shops the local cafe or chip shop or in cars honking their horn to clear traffic. Wow heroes all of them

Watching the launch videos is really interesting. They show how much the service relies on the "backstage crew" as much as those on the boat. Each specialist job needs someone dedicated to turning out at all hours, in all weathers, in the same way as the actual crews. They might not be as visible to the public as the people in bright yellow kit, but they wouldn't be out there without the guys in wellies and a pullover! Thank you to THEIR service too. Could we have some videos explaining the jobs needed to get the boats to sea please?

My grandfather was on the lifeboat here for 49 years, the last 15 years as winchman. When the siren went off, he would sprint to the station quicker than any human I have ever seen.

Popping down to the south coast to pick up a few immigrants I guess as a taxi service. Which will costs us millions in plush hotels and tax

Lifeboat stations used to be mimilistic buildings to house lifeboats in,now they look like statements of wealth, completely unnecessary and a waste of money, but when it's someone else's money just spend, spend, spend

In my opinion the building is necessary to launch the boat as fast as possible to save lives. How quick they can launch is very impressive.

The most famous lifeboat, at Salcombe, is docked in the water, nothing fancy, always at the ready. These slipways are impressive though, keeps them out of the weather, but must cost an extraordinary amount of money to build and maintain. All from donations though, so I guess if donations exceed their needs then they can build one on a grand scale. Besides, they're all volunteers, they risk their lives every time they go out, they deserve a nice work environment!

Just think how much the asset costs they house. Also the safety of the crew on launch and when redocking

@@davetart7029 some stations are manned 24 hours a day so I think a little comfort isn’t bad for those who work/sleep and eat there also to all crews it’s a community hub and considering majority are volunteers I could not imagine the many situations that they face … so a tiny little corner in a shed would be your preference ?
