    @@rcblitzfpv8346 fast forward twenty years when fire department members developed Atrial Fibrillation from diesel exhaust fumes getting on the truck, also around 30 seconds, a simple painters mask with sulfur filter would do that man properly.

    @@Dave-dm7vt the RNLI choose not to have assistance from the government. They want to be independent so no one can tell them how to run things. And with our government can you blame them?

    Don't let them kid you that they don't get paid. Big fundraising chiefs get paid down at HQ alongside their administration staff,hotel workers, chief engineers/helmsmen. Don't get me wrong yeah they do a great job. It's just a big marketing exercise about not getting paid. I'm ex lifeboat (independent) for many years not one person within our charity ever received payment for services, now that is a true organisation.

    Straight into the fog with sirens blaring! We used to subscribe to RNLI magazine at my motor lifeboat station years ago when I was in the U.S. Coast Guard.

    We have the big boat at Buckie Harbour, Northeast Scotland. A beautiful sight when she launches and she moves through the sea like a rocket.

    The coastline is rocky round there, isn't it? With some high walls built up against the beach. I remember thinking it would be a very bad place to misjudge the tide when I walked along the beaches.

    Lots of people get cut off, there is quite a strong rip in some places so can be a bit treacherous at times

    Of course, you would be very welcome to use it they are a really good bunch of lads and lasses who work there. BBC2 have recently shown them on Saving Lives at Sea and the Tenby Police of ITV's Harbour Cops too if that helps

    The harbour at Tenby dries out at low tide, hence the lifeboat has to launch down a slipway to ensure there is sufficient water at all states of the tide.

    @vega albin the difference is in the fuel stability and in the emissions given off. Biofuels tend to give off cleaner byproducts when burned

    @@richardmillhousenixon if you look at the spec of any all weather lifeboat they are all diesel engine. The smaller inshore boats run petrol outboards

    I am proud to be a Governor Member of the RNLI and have been fundraising for 34 years, including being Chairman of the Borough of Solihull Lifeboat Appeal in the 1980s. These selfless men and women are the bravest of the brave and very unassuming, ready to respond at a moment's notice, 24/7. And they are VOLUNTEERS. So, please, less of the uniformed and stupid comments!

    I'm sure it WAS a relief boat, otherwise it would have "Tenby Lifeboat" on its stern (or her stern, rather). Until a few years ago relief boats had "Relief Lifeboat" on their sterns but now just say "Lifeboat".

    I haven’t got a Cristal ball but spot the man in for a personal injury claim for lung damage and children running around like feral rats, it’s the same everywhere in the RNLI crews thinking SOP’s don’t affect them, it’s the same here using RNLI Tractors to launch and retrieve commercial fishing boats what insurance covers that 😉🤐🤷‍♂️👍🏻

    So that must be negligent work practice forcing a guy to inhale all those fumes, failure for protecting an employee from danger is a failure of the health and safety at work Act. Drastic an immediate need to change this work practice to an automated process.

    William .. How long should it take, armchair warrior? *This video is only three minutes long, and they launched in under that.* Sorry if you think that's too long, but, as I said, it takes a couple of minutes to start the engines and double-check fuel & oil levels, crew on board, where to go, program nav computers, check need for special gear, and so on.

    You try to make a lifeboat and a station. I bet you won't be able to. Before you criticise an amazing price of engineering think if you can do it better. Also, it wasnt a real shout that's why it was slow.
