Have You Torn or Strained a Ligament in Your Knee? How to Tell

Have You Torn or Strained a Ligament in Your Knee? How to Tell
Bob and Brad instruct us on the common mechanism and signs you have torn or strained a ligament in the knee. Then they demonstrate tests that are used to determine if you have an ACL (anterior cruciate ligament), PCL (posterior cruciate ligament), MCL (medial collateral ligament), or LCL (lateral collateral ligament) tear or strain.

You guys are so helpful. My left knee got randomly swollen for 2 months now, it wasn’t after a gym work out or anything physical at all so it’s so weird that I got this. Maybe my posture and weight has something to do with it and lack of exercise since gyms in my area closed for a year lol

i am a volleyball player in college and I tore my ACL my freshman year landing awkwardly and blew it out. It is interesting to hear the textbook signs of an ACL tear because my athletic trainer thought that I had just strained my MCL at first because I was not showing the typical signs at first. They came a bit delayed! Great video!

When you watch this and realize that the knee injury you got as a teen was probably a torn ligament but didn’t go to the doc because parents couldn’t afford it… I guess this explains why that knee has never felt stable since.

Hello. I have stressed out the LCL during a PR deadlift. I have seem a therapist and thankfully nothing is broken. I have followed up with the exercises to some extent. My current experience is that if I am sitting for a while, being behind the wheel of my car or on the seat at my office, when I try to get up I experience pain. Once I move about for a little bit after getting out of the seat the pain goes away. I am interested in understanding the physiological reasons for this soreness; would inflammation be a good guess? If I should use icepack, how long should I practice ice packing it for the problem to completely go away? Thanks - and I appreciate all your fun videos from which I have learned a lot.

What types of complaints about stairs can give hints as to what could be the issues? After a day at the beach In rough waves, left knee was so sore going up and down steps. Going up the steps got better after a week of rest, but going down the steps still hurts just to the right of my left kneecap. I favor it a lot

Are you aware they doscovered a new ligament in the knee about 7 or so years ago? It has its pwn origin and insertion site, was once thought to be a part of another ligament. Prevents the tibia or fibula from rotating laterally. I think. It has been a long time since i read the research.

Same thing happened to me...I got a partial lat meniscus tear...( maybe a fall, tried to catch myself a week or two b4? Idk ) That knee filled with fluid one evening and extremely painful to walk on. While waiting several weeks, x-rays, mri and doc appts...My left knee fills with fluid...I opted for Cort injections in both. (Right knee is bone on bone...) Left knee perfect except for the angry fluid filled bursas.... feeling better within 48 hours. Going back to P.T. Also going to try Youngevity in lieu of a knee replacement. If you search that term and Joel Wallach...Its been on my heart for years. Now its time to try....FDA has tried to shut him down....

So I just wanna see if anyone can give me some kind of advice before I go to a physician. I was standing when I thought I partially tore my PCL in my right knee. I grabbed my foot and quickly pulled my heel to my butt and heard quite a loud pop. Since then I have not been able to get into a deep squat or even pull my heel to my butt completely without any type pain(hurts like a mf). (Probably a bad way to tell if it’s partially torn)But when I lay on my back with knees in the air and let my feet fall toward my butt my left foot comes closer to my butt than my right foot does.
