She was a Sultana. A member of a Royal Dynasty. He HAD to be faithful to her. Technically, he was her servant, even if he was the head of his household in marriage. It's complicated... but he definitely was NOT allowed to cheat on her.

@@smji5269 but Hurrem had the right to be jealous. The problem here is that he is the Sultan and have to have male heirs, and having a lot of wives helped him acheive that. Plus, marriages were a good way to seal a political traity

Maybe seems hypocritical to us, but Suleiman was technically allowed to sleep with his concubines because he owned them. Nigar wasn't Ibrahim's concubine, so it was adultery.

I just don't understand Hatice. From going to divorce Ibrahim as a punishment to blaming Hurrem, Nigar and even the baby for Ibrahim's fault and channeling all her negative energy to punish them for all the mistakes that Ibrahim had done. How???

Hatice just couldn't accept the fact that she is human (bound to make mistakes), and married to a human being who also has weaknesses and faults. She thinks shenever made a mistake in loving a man with such character blemishes - she's far beyond making any wrong judgment of character! Having been sheltered by either her mother or the Sultan all her life, I think it has never occurred to her that being a human being - herself included - entails responsibility for one's actions and the repercussions of these actions. She probably thinks that only slaves and people in lower ranks are accountable for any wrongdoings. Pity. Despite having had all the time and resources in the world, she possessed such very limited knowledge about her religion and humanity.

Historically, he was executed for overstepping his boundaries, and he tried to elevate himself to the level of the Sultan. His ambition and crass alarmed Hurrem too. His relationship with Hattice was purely speculation that has been discredited, but the show married him to Hattice to drive the plot. Cheating on his wife was just icing to the cake that can’t be historically proven nor disproven, but was likely added into the show to drive the story. This whole scene lays the foundation for Ibrahim’s execution (really happened), Hurrem’s dramatic kidnapping (fictional) and Hattice’s ensuing fictional suicide.

Only the sultan and the princes (when they go to sanjak(like manissa)) are allowed to have concubines.. so it's not cheating (in their law/in that time) Ibrahim is a pasha so he's not allowed to sleep with any woman other than his wife.
