Hatching Supermarket Eggs Part 1

Үй жануарлары мен аңдар

We went to our local Sainsbury's, and purchased some chicken eggs, and put these in the incubator, with the aim of answering the question - Can you hatch supermarket eggs?
The results shocked us. Hatching supermarket eggs was something we thought wouldn't happen, but it did!

  • @AnnoyDad

    @AnnoyDad

    4 жыл бұрын

    Not alot would happen. The main reason we candle eggs is to remove the ones that aren't developing. If you imagine leaving an egg in 37 degree heat for 3 weeks, it won't be very nice. There is also a chance of bad eggs exploding.

    No. You need an incubator to hold the temperature at a steady 37.5C for 21 days

    Yes, here in the U.S. we have the absurdity of laws that cause the natural protection from bacteria washed off and more food borne illness caused as a result of our fallacies. But also I'd doubt we could hardly ever have any in a super market that could be fertilized anyway. There's almost no such thing as non-industrial farms represented in our supermarkets. (Although there are fakes marketed to convince customers that they are non-industrial.) I could believe the ones I buy at the farmer's market might be fertile sometimes.

    What about the fertility though? I thought on average supermarket eggs were already about 3 weeks old by the time you bought them- and you know how fertility goes right down after 10 days? Maybe our supermarket eggs are fresher than once thought! This is amazing!

    Indeed. This was also done at the start of the year (January I think), so pre lock down. We did try the same with Tesco eggs about 3 weeks into lockdown and all were infertile.
