Some of the things are good, yes, like being relaxed and respectful, never doing something when angry or drunk...but some of the things are just plain ridiculous. Like not being allowed to do it standing up and always having to do it in total darkness with sheets over you...come on. That really takes the romance out of it, not even being able to see your partner.

This is not the normative approach in Orthodox Judaism. I don't see a benefit in being too specific about this sensitive subject, since we are in an online forum, but suffice it to say that no, we don't require total darkness in the room and no, we don't require that the couple be covered.

But joseph the key words here are "normal to you". To the rest of the free world it is very bazzarr. Me and my husband have sex in the day or the night. Sometimes in bed sometimes on the couch or in thr shower or anywhere in the house. Sometimes the lights are on sometime candles sometimes just the moonlight coming through the window. Sometimes its a quickie sometimes its a couple of hrs. There is no praying before or any of that. Sometimes its romantic sometimes its just fun. Thats what sex is about. God meant it to be pleasure. Not all this cloke and dagger stuff under the sheets in the dark.

He was taught before marriage by his leader that nudity between a couple while having sex was permitted. There are literally hundreds of Hasidic groups who have Rabbis who teach different rules within each group.

Talking to media about our life, especially our private lives is wrong beyond a shadow of a doubt. Secular people cannot understand our fundamental rules and will only use them for hilarity and mockery. People need to stop doing this. Live your life. Its nobodys business what goes on in your private life. Thats why it's called PRIVATE. KEEP IT THAT WAY

I guess that’s a personal choice. If you were raised around only your own kind and taught Hasidic laws etc etc, you would be far more likely to find a Hasidic man attractive. Besides, their marriages are arranged and love is learned over the years. I am not even a Jew but I do find a certain beauty in Hasidic customs. They’re not for me! That’s for sure but I respect their traditions as well as their devotion to their way of life.

It really doesn't work like the guy in the move described. After this short movie I can tell you that someone is trying to make money not good documentary movie :) Someone got "controversial" interesting topic and looking for "shocking facts" that are little different than "the normal way" To make good movie about the topic you need different type of people. Only in the trailer I see at least 5 different Chasidim groups. You must understand that Chasidim is not a one general description of people with peyos. What about those without Peyos then ? Guy in the movie saying that he wasn't religious, that he become religious 13 years ago and become Chasid... Question: what Chasid? Bobov? Satmar? Chabad? Gur? Skver? Bialy? Viznitz? Belz? Why you didn't you tell people that being Chasidim not from birth is a HUGE difference :) A ok that would make your movie not 100% cool as you want to show, because this movie is about Chasidim right ? and this is cool part. Movie about Baal Teshuva wouldn;t be that cool because in your eyes and other he may not be the "real deal" In his community what he is taking about is a standard in my community is different, in other communities is different story. There is one Chsidim dynasty that allow you to have sex only 2 times per month, there is other that rules are set to have sex hundred times per day if you like. For people from outside Chasid is Chasid, the guy with peyos the lady wearing shatel - the wing. For me there is 200 different chasiddim dynasties. Every single one has different customs, different hat, different suit, different peyos, different shoes. One more time this particular Chasid doesn't mean every Chasid. Just look at the Chasidim woman. Some wear makeup some doesn't, some wear wig some wear tichel, some wear dark color stocking some light color stocking. All this is regulated by "customs of the community" and there is minimum 2000 different communities :) The guy is saying no lights in the movie... I know at least 20 different Chasidim sects where light is not a problem. I'm happy that there is a such movie I just don't like how people see Chasidim as a one group. We are all different it's like making movie about Nativ Americans and trying to tell that it's a movie about Americans... All the best to you !

It all turns sex into a job not pleasure. Candle light creates romance. The sheets only get in way. I guess oral sex is out of the question? God design sex as pleasure for a man and a woman. As long as 2 consenting adults are enjoying themselves i say anything goes. Getting pregnant is just a side effect not the only purpose.

@@tangokaleidos1926 boy I bet your a laugh in a bed. What a sad idea u have in your head. Are u grouping us humans in with the animals now? Do u think if God didn't mean for it to be pleasure that he would give the ability to have orgasms? Women have the ability to have 2 orgasms in 2 areas of our sexual anatomy. Men and women can masturbate and give our selves pleasure. Do u think God would have create our bodies to be able to do that if we were simply just having sex to reproduce like the animals? The Bible says that marriage partners should offer their bodies to each other in marriage and should not deny each other except for a short season for fasting (1 Corinthians 7:5). God made men and women sexual beings. He made our nervous systems capable of receiving pleasure from the sex act. Sex in marriage is good and holy and ordained of God.

Some of the ppl in the comment section mocking & ridiculing Jews for their religious practice of sex, are probably bastards born out of glorified fornication that happened out of wedlock. As a Muslim I respect them (Jews) more for having a guideline & although our religious practice around topic is different, it shares some similarities. Example the prayer before hand, even if what we pray for isn’t worded the same, children being intended & blessings & protection being asked for them is in there. Islamically all positions are allowed when it comes to sex. & lights on or off doesn’t matter. What’s prohibited for us is anal sex, & sex during menstruation (wife whilst she’s on her period) However even when she is on, foreplay is allowed, kissing, & sleeping in the same bed is allowed. Pleasing her husband & him his wife in any way except actual intercourse, or coming into direct contact via touching where she bleeds is allowed. They sleep in the same bed & all forms of life I.e eating together, wife cooking, hugging the husband, sitting together etc is all allowed After her period is over she has what we call the a ghusl, bath, & then they can commence as normal. And after general intercourse both husband & wife have another kind of ghusl/shower which the one specific for after sex. There is nothing wrong with ppl having guidelines. I find men who stick it into a menstruating woman disgusting, or who partake in anal sex. Not Jews who have self control & their own personal guidance. We live in a world where those who worship their desires & ignore all of the degenerate ills it’s caused in society to be strange. The arrogance they have to mock others whilst they think themselves sexually liberated is astonishing.

@@23Dawnay That's not true, any hasidic woman can leave the community whenever they want. I know jews who just have one-four kids and are hasidic. If any woman is forced to do something by her husband, the husband will be halachicly punished (Shulchan Aruch, Even HaEzer 154). Just because they don't agree with your gentile secular theology, doesn't mean they have no "freedom" in fact, in jewish communities marriage is at a very low rate.

Some of these rules are not from the torah, so take those with a pinch of salt. GOD LOVES SEX and wants us to have loving sex . Sex is to be honourable to God first and a blessing to each other. No drunk sex , drugged sex, bondage sex, anal sex, oral sex (diseases), covered face sex, lustful sex, hurtful sex, and only within an exclusive marriage between one man and one wife.

There are many of us who wish the best for the people in both scenarios. I'm happy for the Orthodox couple in their marriage, living according to their beliefs, and a transgender person who has found a loving partner. We can live in world where we respect each other's choices and identities. I choose to live ethically.

Zeroing in on one snippet in a vast library of customs and laws, without providing any context, is just bad journalism. What is the purpose of this video other than to make fun of this religious man's beliefs? What was the motivation? I admit I do not know much about Hasidic life, but these people do not bother anyone, and laws about sperm and ejaculation (unless you're a 7th grade boy giggling right now) are followed in private. No one gets arrested for masturbating. The laws are about as hilarious as the Islamic rule that says a woman must be 45 before she can sleep in a home other than her father's or husband's. To that culture, the law has merit. No one is hurt. Honestly, it's like a preadolescent bathroom joke. In the real world. ISIS is tossing homosexual teens off buildings (with their heads covered) and beheading hundreds of people for who-knows-why. They're terrorizing movie theaters and cafes, schools and neighborhoods. They're terrorizing the entire world. Yet it's important that we laugh at a man who believes that sperm is sacred? Not much of a service you are providing with your documentary, from what I've seen of it here.
