When a Jewish person reads a Christian text, it is read with a Jewish lens. When a Christian person reads a Jewish text, it is read with a Christian lens. Rabbi Lord Jonathan Sacks seeks to illuminate a way beyond a binary narrative with his must read book; I will have to gift myself for holiday reading.

Wow. He completely took Romans 9 out of context. That's part of a larger section stretching up to Romans 11. There Paul makes it clear that both Jews and Gentiles are declared sinful that God may have mercy on both.

This lecture employs some cleverly executed sleight of hand. Sack first gets us to accept the premise that sibling rivalry is the real source of all violence. That allows him to focus exclusively on the sibling rivalry stories in the Hebrew scriptures. The focus on sibling rivalry diverts our attention away from another deep-seated source of violence which is tribal rivalry, such as that between the Israelites and the Canaanites. The Hebrew scriptures really do condone and encourage violence against other tribes who worship "strange" gods.

The thirty years war was started because of a dissatisfaction with the Catholic Church among north Western European nations. There were religious arguments made but it was started because Luther who was a monk saw the decadence of Rome seeing that roads weren't actually paved with gold.

I also don't believe Paul would've taught replacement theology, especially as he speaks of Christians being grafted into the fold. However, the Christian testamant is sometimes rather freely narrated and it well could be that somewhere along the way someone put a few words in Paul's mouth.

Paul is quite clear that God has *not* abandoned the Jewish people in his Letter to the Romans. His ode to Israel, the image of Gentiles being grafted 'unnaturally' into the People of God pretty much leaves without a shred of doubt his views about his people whom he loved deeply.

splash -but he did. We were instructed to not change one tittle within the Books of Moses. Paul misquoted the word of G-d, throughout the new fake testament. And then, yes someone put words into the mouth of Paul as well. The church is guilty of this, by also changing the word of G-d to further their agenda. For example, compare what Paul apparently wrote in Romans (10:6-8) and what Deuteronomy (30:11-14) says on the matter.

Christianity will not survive as is, starting at the beginning of the Jewish Messianic Age just around the corner... As if you needed any more evidence of this than the life of Martin Luther. Christianity will be decommissioned and rendered harmless to prepare for the age of the Jewish People, the Jewish high Priests, and the Temple to come

RABBI SACKS: You are right to cite the fatwah issued against Salman Rushdie. This was the first time the British Political, and Media, Classes FAILED the 'test', as to whether they are capable of defending Western liberal civilisation, against militant, migratory, Islam. Here in the UK, these two Classes have continued to fail this 'test' time and time again! What is wonderful in this address is the way you reveal that it is the WAY in which we CHOOSE to read our scriptures which leads to the potential for violence. Jews and Christians are not REQUIRED to read our scriptures as 'religious fundamentalists': Muslims ARE! They have no option. ISLAM = KORAN + MOHAMMED. No context or interpretation is necessary, possible, or required, for, "It is written!" The Jew and the Christian may always claim, "The Bible always says what it means: it does not always mean what it says". The Muslim may never make that claim for the Koran.

Rabi Sacks did not understood the gospel, Paul was referring to this group of the Messiah Yeshua which they were Jews, Apostle Paul had a group of used to be gentiles but when they accept Messiah Yeshua is no more separation as promises of Adonai. He has reach salvation to all Nations.

INCORRECT interpretation of Apostle Paul's letter. Very good rhetoric and worldly intelligence, however with the absence of revelation by God's HOLY SPIRIT. JEWS ARE LOVED BY GOD...YOU ARE HIS PEOPLE. However the Messiah, Yeshua; brought us all into a new dispensation which began in the spirit, and that which has been began in the spirit cannot be completed in the flesh. Isaiah prophesied of a time when YOUR beloved YAHWEH will extend HIS mercy love and salvation to all nations. I AM A SPIRITUAL JEW BORN FROM THE SPIRIT OF YAHWEH THROUGH THE BLOOD SACRIFICE OF YESHUA! My soul magnifies the Lord for that.

Judith Van Harte christianity did not accept Jesus through the spirit, but instead through the heart. The creator warned us not to trust in our heart, and the consequences for doing so. Deuteronomy (13:1) if a prophet or a dreamer of dreams arises among you and gives you a sign or a wonder, and the sign or wonder comes to pass, and if he says, "let us go after other gods", which you have not known, "and let us serve them", you shall not listen to the words of that prophet or that dreamer of dreams. The main author of the new fake testament never knew the prophet known as Jesus. He only had visions/dreams of the man. The very next sentence in Deuteronomy 13:3 tells us why G-d would allow a people to believe in such a thing. Deuteronomy (13:3) concludes with, "For the lord your G-d is testing you. To know whether you love the lord your G-d with all of your heart and with all of your soul." Since christians hearts are with Jesus and since they continue to praise Jesus, they therefore cannot give all glory to G-d. All glory belongs to the creator.

@@timothya.olmeda7299 you act like muslims and Hindus dont feel something for their false gods. the simplest think i can say is that god never accepted his people praying to anything else. an individual cannot be father and son to itself, the word father means to come before the son.

charlie Dilltardē you misunderstood everything that I was trying to convey in the message I sent. I do not believe in Jesus as a messiah, nor do I believe he was G-d in the flesh. And just because someone may believe that their religion (belief system) is the true way to their G-d, does not make it divine or the truth, whatsoever. And yes, in earthly terms, a father comes before a son, but when it comes to the almighty G-d the father of all, it explicitly says in Isaiah (44:6) ( the first has no father/ the last has no son).

Who cares to hear my comment, But the speaker is wrong when he quotes Paul from the New Testament, Paul was himself a Jew and trained as a rabbi. But he had learned through experience that NO ONE can keep the law. No one can keep the whole Law of Moses, and the many human commandments. People try, but trying is not good enough for G-D. Everything must be kept like a chain of pearls held together, if the chain breaks it falls all on the floor....Paul tells them that they should not be slaves to the Law of Moses and the many additional commandments. They must now only observe the 10 commandments that Moses received on the mountain. as well as accepting Jesus who is the Messiah God who was revealed in the flesh Jesus Christ who grew up as a Jew and lived in Israel for 33 years. Until he died on a cross, Predicted in Esajas 53..May G-D open your eyes so that you accept the Jew Jesus who was G-d and man as your only savior..Get out of the slavery of the law.obey the 10 commandments Jesus has paved the way for your salvation, You just have to believe in Him that He is who he says he is , told in E 53
