Hasbro to Stop Making Toys?

Ойын-сауық

It looks like Hasbro is starting to hire outside companies to make some of their toys going forward. What are the chances that Hasbro simply stops making toys and just licenses everything to outside companies?

No Saturday cartoons = no interest in toys No good movies = no interest in toys No TV commercials = no interest in toys This is what sold toys. Toys have now become adult collectibles.

Also modern society and culture pressures children to "grow up" too quickly. So they have less years playing with toys and stop doing so and move onto other things at an earlier age.

Funny how they target adults because they have money, while if they targeted toys at kids, the adults would still buy it.

Very interesting idea, any company would make better quality Transformers than Hasbro at the moment.

Not always true. They've had some really good release this year like Legacy Armada Optimus Prime and this deal with McFarland Toys only extends to NON-transforming toys. Hasbro still has the copyright on transforming toys.

@@muigokublack6487 I mainly stopped collecting Transformers after Siege, Earthforce and Kingdom due to problems with yellowing plastic out of the box and other quality control issues. Motormaster being a prime example, no pun intended. These things shouldn't happen.

I just got a 150 dollar 3d printer. About 3/4 of the bullcrap they produce, i can now make myself for 1/6 the total cost including the time it takes for me to clean up my prints.

If they are aiming at the adult toy collectors market, than why do they stick with the vastly outdated noting that people don't want 'girl' figures? I was completely surprised when the Obi Wan series figures were released and the only female figures in the 3.75 inch line where the Inquisitors. No Tala, no Dedra Meero, and not even young Princess Leia. And only Tala got a Black Series release. How can you expect anyone to play with the figures if important ones are left out. Also, taking the window of the Black (and equivalent) series boxes so people can only hope what they buy is actually what's in the box was a big mistake. I know as a kid back in the 80's I was saving up for the Blue Thunder helicopter toy, trusting that the picture on the box was mostly accurate to what was inside. When I had the money and went to buy it, I got lucky and someone had opened one of the boxes and when I saw what the helicopter toy actually looked like, I didn't buy it. Seriously, did nobody tell the designers that the two crew members sat in tandem and NOT side by side? Honestly though, I still think they need to do what toy companies were doing back in the late 70's and 80's and create their own IP toy lines where they control the narrative and storyline. Unlike the past, they have the whole internet to advance the story and don't have to rely on kids buying comic books are the expensive of a full blown TV series. They could easily push out announcements and story updates through KZread and social media.

Who is designing these toys? There used to tbe a majority of the figures were 3.5 inches tall so you could use the figures interchangeably. Next like you guys said the freaking prices! Even at clearance the Hasbro toys are high! I wish i could design some toys because I still remember what's cool in toys!

I collect nerf and transformers. its a mixed bag. the TF figures made for adults are good, but pricey. Everything else is kind of trash. But the latest line, the legacy run, has been received really well, mostly. Nerf has its ups and downs. they made the elite 2.0 line unmoddable at first, and the community backlashed so fast, that they immediately reversed course. They just started a nerf elite line after having not had one forever. but essentially. Hasbro has no good shows or movies to sell their toys right now. That's it. The new transformers comics look good, but its too late.

Unfortunately, Hasbro isn't listening to the collectors Adult or child and their too busy worried about their stocks Then to worry about stocking items that people actually want. For example, I sent a note to them telling them that the Power Rangers Titanium morpher is a highly sought after toy just it's after market is ridiculous. That would make a lot of sales if they just remastered it, It was an exclusive toy from the US and yet Hasbro didn't see the Potential but keeps releasing mighty morphin morphers lol smdh

This is a very American/Western idea. Everyone wants to license and make money without doing anything. Just make the toys and make them right. Stop trying to get around doing the work, Hasbro.

In defense of Indiana Jones 5, it and all the other odd numbered Indiana Jones movies are great. Any of those movie about killing nazis is a good movie. Spoilers: Dial of Destiny is fantastic because anyone aware of pop culture in the last ten years will know by the end of act one that the nazis are trying to do a "Man in the High Castle." The movie keeps you thinking the nazis will succeed in doing a "Man in the High Castle" right up until the moment in act three when they time travel. Then, when the nazis think they've won and they'll get to rewrite history, the time machine Rick Rolls the nazis and they get their shit pushed in by a bunch of bronze age savages. Fantastic movie.

Hasbro is a bit of a basket case…. I think they haven’t quite tweaked in their heads that the political climate in the marketplace is pushing hard to resist population growth, economic expansion, environmental waste, and gender conformity. The problem is that Hasbro serves to children. They make plastic toys. They are a multinational, focused on growth. They make gender stereotypical products, based on the most basic principles. Hasbro has not realised that they are firmly against the political Left, and they have no product if their staff are not interested in kids, and they have No customers if they produce toys for people who are not interested in gender norms. You can be in favour of progressive politics but still realise that Hasbro’s business stands against them by its basic nature. Every boy had a Transformer and every girl had a Barbie. Walk away from that and you lose profits. I’m seeing toy departments shrinking so much, even before Christmas… I don’t think this ends well for Hasbro. You can’t walk away from kids toys as a culture and have a business model.

I actually disagree with the whole idea kids don't play with toys just because of Ipads and smart phones. Crap cartoons is the main reason IMHO. New Transformers cartoons are shite. GI Joe cartoons have been shite. No good Haabro cartoons have been shite. On top of that Star Wars is now shite. Nothing sells toys because all the shows that are supposed to be selling toys are all shite. Why should kids care about toys when there are no good cartoons to watch? The synergy is dead.
