As a conservative, I love destiny's points about trans people, and actually very much agree with nearly everything (i.e expanding what being a 'real' woman entails), but dear god the only thing I ever hear are people parroting Hasan's horrible ideas and it turns me off to the entire side of the argument.

@aa b It's okay, I just share some conservative ideas, wasn't really trying to call myself full blown conservative, just that I wasn't really left. Other than in a lot of social areas I guess. People should be allowed to do whatever they want, and describe themselves however. But I've never tried to silence the other side or bar people from speaking in the way the left has. Taxes are fine, no problem there either. You make a lot of assumptions, starting with conservatives being a cult. Nice job going the ad-homimem route btw, very typical of your side to do. I'm sure you get a lot done that way.

Hasan isn't a grifter though. He's just a himbo. I don't think that many people who watch him think he's good at debates either. You don't have to agree with everything your favourite streamer/youtuber says. His stance on a lot of social issues is still pretty good even if he can't always defend it very well. His "debate" with Christian about trans women was pretty poor though. As Destiny pointed out, with someone like Christian who's very far from the progressive view on the topic you have to build from the ground up.

“You built a community so friendly to minorities” Are we still talking about a guy who justifies using slurs against people and goes on 10 minute transphobic tangents whenever someone criticises him?

Something Blaire White says is that herself and other trans women and men should embrace the trans in front of woman or man as if sheds light onto the journey this person went through and it makes them special in a good way. They’re very strong emotionally and deserve props for living in their truth.

It’s a difficult position to argue against that if I’m accepting everything about a trans person, like I’m willing to use their preferred gender pronouns, accept them socially as a woman, but I don’t think they’re actually a biological woman (which is how I think the vast majority of people use the term “woman”) because they are, in material fact, a trans woman… what’s to argue? There is the category of woman, you do not fall in that category, you fall in the category of trans woman. If I treat both categories the same, what’s your argument? The reason for separate categories is there are differences between a woman and trans woman that are so obvious I don’t need to go into them, but why am I not allowed to make that distinction when there is clearly an evident and provable distinction?

Likewise, for all intents and purposes in daily life, I see and treat them as women, but the whole "transwomen are women" line rubs me the wrong way. I don't know why people get hung up on that prefix during debates. To me it's as dumb as the whole "esports isn't sports" argument--like no shit, that's why it's called esports.

Its literally 14-20 year olds who want a dad or daddy because thier actual parents beat them.

Hassan using the phrase: "You're transphobic" quite literally like how folks used to use "that's gay" in the 90's as a way to win an argument.

Something that I've noticed Hasan say, and have seen other people say quite often, is "I'm sorry, it's just the truth". And every time, without fail, it's just code for saying 'accept my position, because I say so.' Its what someone says when they have no argument but want someone to believe what they said. 'It's just true' is not an argument. It is just an assertion of truth without any supporting evidence. The 'I'm sorry...' is just the way to be condescending about it, as though you know better than they do... except, again, you provided nothing to argue your point. It's calling someone an idiot for not agreeing with you, when again, they've provided nothing.

This interaction made me conservative. Save me Destiny
