Has AMSOIL marketing lied about their ATF fluid being Mercon ULV compliant?

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Has AMSOIL marketing lied about their ATF fluid being Mercon ULV compliant? A comparison to Ford Specifications and actual lab testing proving the AMSOIL is not the correct viscosity for use in today's transmissions.
Watch and find out how the viscosity of the AMSOIL ATF does not meet Ford Specifications for the current transmission in todays vehicles. AMSOIL is touting 8 yr old testing on old transmissions.

    I use Amsoil Signature Series transmission fluid in my 2002 Ford F-150, 4r70w which calls for Mercon V and it is the smoothest, best shifting, quietest, all around best transmission fluid I have ever used. The transmission also stays cooler. Shifting is immaculate. I will NEVER use anything but Amsoil Products in all of our vehicles.

    Amsoil Low Viscosity ATF should test around 6.0 at operating Temps. That is why it is so popular for newer trannys. The multi vehicle is 7.5 at operating Temps. Higher Viscosity would be multi vehicle formula. I have used both in different vehicles with great results. Never had a problem with Amsoil atfs.

    The report only says Mercon LV ATF, Not Amsoil Signature Series Fuel Efficient. You show the Mercon spec of LV, ULV in the datasheet but then you show the Amsoil's Mercon V fluid viscosity for the multi-vehicle fluid and cut off the screen showing both fluids. Looks like you are trying to pull a fast one on your nieve viewers. The taxi fleet test is not basis for thier testing only a real world trial. Every oil company compares thier products against other synthetic and non syn oils. So tell us garage dweller what the viscosity RANGE of Ford's LV & ULV standard. You only list one number. Pounting out viscosity index number is hilarious, and shows your ignorance. What the heck is Ford ASTM certification. You mean the extortion and fees they charge to put a label on the bottle. All oil companies submit thier products to independant, certified labs for yesting and those results are compared to these oem specs. File a complaint with the FTC if you think they are committing fraud against the consumer. There are dozens of specs that must be met to list it as meeting an oem spec, yet you mention one, because that all the garage dweller can come with. Why dont you just call AMSOIL tech support up, record the call get more info rather than just apread your own lies. You once puit Amsoul ATF in your Ford and praised the superiority of the oil. You probably took those videos down. After all these years still havent learned much. Oil is a religion to some, and same lies and deception is used whether it is politics, religion, or oil.

    Yep, don't use anything other than a ~4.5cst@100 fluid in a 10R80 or you'll end up with all kinds of wonky shifting. That (and other ) transmissions rely on very specific shift timing and the thicker fluid causes issues. One only has to look at how fast Ford wants those transmissions to come up to temperature with their warmer/cooler assembly to realize that in this case, thicker is not better.

  • @javelinadad

    @javelinadad

    2 жыл бұрын

    So you don't think the 10r80 can shift wonky with the factory fill? :) Of course I'm not suggesting that's because of the fluid, but the 10r80 is fairly notorious for odd shifting behavior. And the GM version even calls for a different viscosity than Ford.

  • @ctechbob

    @ctechbob

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@javelinadad I think most of it is down to programming. In the quest for fuel economy they're programmed to head to 10th as fast as possible. Most people find that driving around in tow/haul and some aftermarket tunes take care of a lot of the dim-wittedness of the standard programming. I don't think it is something that can be fixed with fluid, but, it can be made worse with a thicker fluid since you can slow down the shifting. There's so much going on inside the trans that throwing off the shift timing can really cause some issues. That's why Ford incorporates a warmer/cooler in the trans fluid circuit. Its job is to get the fluid up to temp as quick as possible, not just for fuel economy, but because of shift timing. That's why they shift clunky when cold. From watching the data on my truck, they actually appear to prioritize the trans warming up over the engine coming up to temp. In the winter time it takes forever for the engine to come up to temp just driving around, and the trans comes up to temp with it. As opposed to getting the engine up to temp as quick as possible. FWIW Dexron ULV is a 4.6 cSt fluid and Mercon ULV is a 4.5 cSt fluid, so near as makes no difference.

    Amsoil is not obligated to notify you of any testing they have done. Thinking they are still relying on eight year old tests is just naive. And your results are sporadic on a different product. Flow rates and viscosity are only part of the equation, film strength also plays a major role.

    So it's highly recommended to use ONLY the oem recommended fluid, but IGNORE the same manufacturers recommended change interval? Trust they know best but don't trust they know best. I love Ford trucks, but their recommendations are far more about CAFE numbers and lasting until the warranty is over. Remember they also recommended 5-20W oil for the 2011 3.5 Ecoboost and then suddenly changed their minds to 5-30W. Whatever the reason, it pretty much reveals what is their interest VS mine.

    Not sure the big deal about Amsoil not having or showing any testing, I bet the engineers look at the specs and needs of new type transmissions and see if their current oils meet or exceed that requirement. One of the big things in ALL oils is the temp limits, to what the oil can lubricate at temp wise, before it will fail to do the job. You can also go check the MSDS of any oil from any MFg and see this and other things, you actually can see what oils are full syn and which are not. The oils that are full synthetic will NOT have any listings under hazard class on the MSDS, since the oil is 100% NON fossil fuel and the additives are non fossil fuel or other chemicals known to cause harm to humans, thats the best way to tell what the oil can do.....
