The Thielecke family made a new start after the reunification between East and West and breed the Harz red highland cattle, and old cattle type with very tender meat. A regional culinary speciality is the Harz cheese, a low fat yoghurt cheese with an intense aroma.
What's cookin' is about traditional culinary recipes from different European regions.

I prefer episodes where the language spoken alone was heard and subtitles were provided. Just to savour the language too.
So amazing to see that the children realize what they have and are not throwing it away to run to large cities. If we are going to survive this modern world and live healthy, we need much more of this. Well done to the family.
1:30 Hahaha its funny how they translated "wir sind richtige Heimscheißer (we are real home shitters)" to "we've never really left home" :'D

This video is so wholesome!
Harz, surrounded by breathtaking beautiful little towns that not disturbed by over tourism. My favorite place in Germany.
Just beautiful. So many of these episodes on European food traditions are simply spectacular.
Oh the Harz! My homeland! I was there last August to take my mom home and see my aunts uncles and cousins. We are from Heringen.

What a beautiful life they have
These people have a good life. This is medicine for the modern person. Lol of course I think so, my ancestor left there and I still live this way! Herbs, the forest, the meadow, the lovely animals, intelligent and happy.... it’s a great life
Thank you for this beautiful video. I live in the Harz montains and I will present your film in my Wayfarervideo for the 28th of May, in cards and back roll, to my audience! Thank you for this great content! Go on! ...
0:57 that's a very happy pampered bull, i had one like that, he still let me bottle feed him long after he was grown, my grandpa didn't have the heart to tell me grown cows don't need to be bottle fed, ppl would lose their mind when they saw me bottle feeding a bull that was twice as tall and 50+ times my weight
Friendly people in Germany. Thank you for this documentary.
Very happy to watch these good people use the earth . Great family
Salut from România 👍🎩🇹🇩 Germany : nice people 👍 Nice culture 👍 Nice country 👍
What a place I love to live here
Rouladen....memories as a child in Bremerhaven, unforgettable, I am so glad I was born there

Cemented means to lay a foundation for something, thats how they say we took a liking in each other.
I loved! Beautiful place, happy people and delicious food!
What a lovely life style!! 🥰
The red highland cattle are beautiful looking animals and I'm glad that the breed has been saved from dying out. Sometimes, in the drive to produce animals better suited to their primary purpose, we've kind of forgotten that they're living creatures. I look at dairy cattle and think how bony looking they are, despite being told they're perfectly healthy and look the way they do because all their energy goes into producing milk. To my mind, no creature can be truly happy if it's forced to be a milk making machine, or pile on pounds of unnecessary muscle. Let the animals grow slowly, and live natural lives, like these cattle do. But of course, this is merely my opinion on the matter. I leave it to everyone else to judge whether I am right or not!
This has to be the most quality content on KZread. God bless the people behind it!

Interesting farm / culinary content, but not what was advertised and I was looking for... all about "...the Famous Harz Cheese"....

Maybe they´ve tasted Rinderroulade before. It´s one of the very few German dishes I find an absolute waste of good meat.
my grandmother made something like beef rouladen but with different stuffing and gravy
i really enjoyed the video but........ But this family really gives me the shivers I have seen so many very bad reviews about the restaurant when people visit was so very shock when so many stated how rude the mother is to the customers
Thank you for the English version. I really enjoy these episodes; this is especially true when I can listen and understand what is being said! Trying to always read subtitles causes me to miss most of the episode.
I wish I could go to Germany and work on their farm for a time.
I doubt that "Knieste" in the dish Hackus und Knieste comes from the kneeling position when harvesting potatoes. I would rather reckon that it is the regional version of "Knüste" - a Low German word for 'end pieces' (like on a bread) . And these are the pieces of the potato or I guess, potato wedges one would say in English.
when is the chheeeessse @17:25
Great video
I love to work there

Wer hat den Kaese geschnitten?
Does anyone know what that apple cake is called or have a recipe?! I really want to make it!!
did they serve the meat raw?!
that sausage makes me hungry too, but would have it just by itself grilled..not with bread
If I sounded anything like the narrator, I'd never shut up and just narrate everything I see.
I think that lady, Susann has Romanian origins , I noticed he has the culture of Transylvania, knows how to distinguish plants beneficial to the body , I refer to the salad made with. Dandelion ( Papadie ) All the best !

When I grew up in very German/Norwegian/Scandinavian/Polish Wisconsin, "cannibal sandwiches" (raw beef with onions on little toast or crackers) were a big thing, especially at weddings. This may be a part of where that tradition came from. Then suddenly with all the scares about uncooked meat, "mad cow" disease and the like, eating raw beef fell out of favor. I miss those things, and wonder if it might be possible to resurrect them again with some really good organic ground beef. They sure were tasty!
7:52 hahaha
Hello, what part of Germany is where the children are? It says that it is a pension, give him this pension in the minute 3:50 I would appreciate the information
Now that's living.
So german Lovely
Wonder which other cultures out there eating raw pork.
They eat raw ground beef???is that not dangerous????
By 21 min. its about cheese, only 5 min. They should call this a Harz farmer...
I wish I could also start up a family farm... and raise my mixed race daughters to be simple hard working and passionate about the farm😊😊
You have to boil bones for 3 days or more days bone marrow. No way can get it that quick.
5 mins out of 26 about the Harz cheese and then she serves it totally unripe ...
He talked about grass how needs to be good for best result of nutritions they can get in their food 😀😀here the more unhealthy people more get sick and government doesn’t care either because don’t eat those food as we eat . Everything processed and unhealthy for human and animal . Every year how many people are dying of cancer and other diseases because of poor nutrients. So sad 😞 🙁🙁
Seems like all these vids, no one uses a proper chef knife to chop the veg..they all use a tiny paring knife..
wait that's the mom?????what?
German women are beautiful and strong.
Its all a dream for me.....you are in heaven and I am in pakistan
These are women. Gute frauen machen ein gutes haus.
nothing about cheese here!
