If you are new to my channel and Fy Nyth (Welsh for "My Nest") in general, welcome! I'm Ariel. Along with my husband Clay, our dogs, cats, and some poultry, we live in a tiny house on wheels in the mountains of western Wyoming and are working on setting into our own new little homestead. I've been living this lifestyle since 2014 and my wonderful partner has joined me more recently. What will you find if you follow the channel and watch the videos?
Real life here. I try to show the good and the bad. The ups and the downs. What works, and what doesn't. The parts I love (most of it!), and the things that suck. Not just the showroom version of a tiny house, but everyday life in a tiny house. Not just the romantic idea of "homesteading" or off grid life, but the everyday details of this lifestyle. We split wood for heat, fill the water tank from a gravity fed spring, and attempt to grow as much of our own food as possible between the weather and wildlife here. I hope to help others learn from mistakes and make life just a little easier for anyone else interested in pursuing a similar lifestyle.
We live in a somewhat harsh and cold climate, but enjoy the stunning scenery and wildlife that we are surrounded by on a daily basis. You'll also see videos of the nature and wildlife around my home. If you are interested in my photography or purchasing a photo, I'd love if you follow that over at mewe.com/join/arielcelestepho... or ArielCelestePhotography.zenfolio.com!

Won't have to worry about Vampires this Halloween.
Garlic stands alone. Better than any seasoning and so good for you. Never wash any food you are storing over the ❄️ winter. Take care.👏💕🌻
Thank you you teach us all so much about gardening
Burley was hitting on something the whole time! Thanks for rubberband trick.
I adore cooking with garlic. I'm so glad your harvest was robust!
Garlic is one of the most healthy & tasty things you can eat 😊 What a great harvest Ariel!
Wow!! That is an AMAZING harvest!! So happy for you ❤️
your a real home farmer-nice/thanks much
I'm not a gardener, but over the years your harvests have been a balm to my soul. I did enjoy your pocket gopher battle (which you won) and most years you reaped a major bounty from their predator paws and jaws 😊
You really have got well organised in the short time you have been there.👍🇬🇧
Gorgeous crop of garlic!
Cats are so cute. Such a beautiful location.
Love your videos. I find them very refreshing and I have done some of the recipes, specially the bread. Take care and keep doing videos so we can enjoy them. Thank you Ariel!
I wasn’t able to find the link to the farmer who sold you that garlic, I looked at several videos nine months and one year ago… I would love to get that information if you have time to re-post it here So appreciate your videos and information! I’ve learned a lot from you and admire your lifestyle!
I always learn souch from your videos! Thanks for sharing Ariel.
The color of your tiny and shop are nice. I like how the paint scheme enhances your landscape and gardens. A few white farm buildings ok. Nice yours do not make visual clutter! ❤G
Thanks for the rubberband advice!👍👏
So beautiful all hanging there! Great sense of satisfaction in a job well done. Long time fan. Great content!
I'm always impressed with how good your audio is, whatever microphone you use is amazing! Also, have you ever done a video of what brought you to Wyoming and how long you've lived there?
I know more about garlic after watching this video. Had no idea there was a braiding preference. Most excellent harvest. Loved seeing your face light up showing us those bigger cloves. Love the footwear you had on in the beginning of the video. Best shoes ever!! Hugs & love to you and Clay & all the critters at Fy Nyth ❤️❤️❤️
Love love love this video. I usually use soft neck so i can braid it lol it makes lovely gifts and tidier to store. I love how bountiful your crop is this year 🧄🧄🧄
Awesome! 👍🇨🇦😎📷🧄🧄🧄🧄🧄🧄
Beautiful crop❤️😃
Thanks!
An enjoyable visit
I buy my garlics only from Gilroy, CA. Fortunately, I drive thru this city during my drive between Southern and Northern California
Those large bulbs are beautiful!!! Lots of good flavor there....Congratulations!😊
Apologies for the Ross Fork fire in SE Id. It is just a across town from me and we have ash falling like light snow. It has been horrible. Your garlic looks amazing! I am glad you are able to get such a great harvest in Star Valley.
Hi Ariel! I'm glad you had a great garlic year and have just the amount you need. Watching your cabbage get decimated by those pests earlier in the season was awful. It's good to see you feeling better and accomplishing your goals before the ground freezes hard. Here in northern Utah it was 49° last night and the high, high temperatures seem to be over. Like you, we're expecting it to get cooler quite rapidly but not as quickly as you. We're just excited not to be so ridiculously hot. If the record temperatures keep happening you should invest in a small swamp cooler at least for your tiny house. They are a very economical way to cool a home where there isn't much humidity. It doesn't use much more electricity than running a fan. You might need to invest in another solar panel but I know how much you dislike the heat. I think it would be worth it as the world keeps on warming. Thanks for your content! I've so enjoyed watching you and missed you when you weren't posting here on KZread. It's my own fault too because I'm not very tech savvy and didn't take the time to learn how to look for you. If you ever feel the need to leave again I'll try much more diligently to find you because even though I'm unable to have your lifestyle due to disability, it's the lifestyle I would have chosen if I'd had the option. Thank you again for your content. Happy upcoming Fall to everyone and animal on your homestead!🍂🍁🍃
Northstarprepsteader sent me over, you have an amazing garden!
I love watching this channel. Your favorite time of year is coming up. I was wondering if you were going to have an outdoor fire pit?
I just planted some garlic a few weeks ago here in North Carolina. I hope they do well.
Blessings ❤️
My sister grew soft and hard neck garlic, made pretty braids with the soft, said trying to braid the hazards wasss like braiding broom handles.
Fantastic
Hi from Mississippi.
As always great video ❤️ Blessings 💗
Thanks Ariel! I bought garlic from Olin last year after watching your video and mine turned out great, too! I've expanded my garden a little this year and have saved a space for more garlic, so ordering from him again. I live in the Rockies in Colorado at 8,000' and am harvesting the rest of mine today so this video was very timely and now I know how to harvest! Thanks SO much! What is Barley so interested in? :)

I was wondering that too. Bet a "country mouse" has a home in the wood pile. Velcro and Zipper have some chores to do.

What's the spacing when using a pot to plant garlic?
Thank you so much I learned a lot
I grow Chesnok Red and had a good harvest this year too in SW Montana. Last year was the worst in 15yrs.
Love watching your growth and your projects. You're living my dream 😄
I've noticed cold areas usually have a lot more success growing nice garlic. That's a great crop you have there. The garlic from China is often bleached, and all white, which destroys a lot of it's good properties.
Would love to see how & what garlic you select for planting in the garden this year 🤔
Here in Salt Lake City (9 years now, elevation 4225'), garlic (mix of hard-neck and soft-neck) has always been our most reliable crop. We usually plant in November and harvest in late June or early July. It may or may not show sprouts before winter; either way it winters over just fine.
My garlic didn’t do as well this year.
I'm guessing leaving some dirt on the garlic helps "protect/pressure" it from spoiling? When my mother was a life and living in Florida they would go gleaning in the local farms from green beans and potatoes. She has a kiddie pool full of potatoes. She was told no the wash the dirt off as if protected them from spoiling.
I'm sorry I didn't see the place where you ordered your seed garlic from I'm getting ready to order my seed garlic and would like to order from where you ordered yours this year I lost my whole garlic harvest I think it was because of the seller I bought from
Last night the wildfire smoke was so strong here in Seattle, I could taste it. Awful. My favorite gardening tool is the Japanese Hori Hori knife, like yours, It pretty much does everything. The place I bought it from was always putting garden puns on their sign. They were crazy in a good way. With regard to the Hori Hori they wrote 'A Hori Hori ain't no hoe.' Kind of a double play on words. I think of that every time I use it and it makes me laugh all over again.
