@@hiddenflare6169 Rune Factory games have fairly simple core gameplay; which this seems to be nailing. Square Enix are usually great at making great stories, whereas Rune Factory always has relatively simplistic stories. Combined with the fact this is probably going to have a amazing sound track and be visually gorgeous; I think it’s going to pose real competition for Rune Factory

@@gridmeter2571 yeah I feel like RF 5 fell short, it’s late game letting it down the most. I spent a lot of time playing it and thinking “RF 4 was better”. I feel like that areas RF5 fell short, like story, are areas where Square Enix IP’s excel though, so o have high hopes for this one

The two things that farming/life sims struggle with is Combat and story. So if this game can deliver: ✅ classic square storytelling ✅ engaging combat ✅ Nail the HM/Story of Seasons life sim aspects This might become the best farming/life sim ever

I am immensely impressed with the sheer number of square Enix games that go from happy fun times to fighting gods. I love it and this looks like a fun pickup

Really interested to see how the season of death plays into the story, and how the monster fighting feeds into the farming mechanics. Looks really interesting.

The season of death almost reminds me of Breath of the wild when you're off in a beautiful world and then all of a sudden a blood moon hits

This may actually be my biggest surprise at the direct today. I'm really looking forward to playing it.

The game looks super good so far! I’m hoping that there is more life sim aspects in the game, like the town feeling like a community with a bunch of characters to bond with. One of my favorite parts of farming sims is the community and relationship building aspect. For example, Rune Factory 4 was full of lovable characters. It drove me to learn all the recipes and make lots of money in order to bring them their favorite gifts. Talking to everyone everyday was such a joy. The story was much more engaging, as I cared about the characters so the stakes were higher. I spent lots of time grinding and forging the best weapons not only for me but for my family. It’s such a huge part of the appeal of farming sims, and I hope it’s in this game too. I hope there are community events like festivals and quests. I’m also hoping there is romance, as that is always very fun.

this! i also hope there's some character customization options since i would love to get different outfits and look cute while doing my silly farming tasks and chatting up the villagers :) the art direction and portraits are super beautiful too! give me those fat chickens!!

This game is the secret child of Harvest Moon and Square JRPG games and I'm all in for it! This is probably my second favorite announcement after Persona.

Rune Factory 4 Special for Switch is highly recommended if you like farming sims and JRPGs. It's about 20€ and you can get hundreds of hours of gameplay

Most hyped game for me. I’m getting Crystal Chronicles, Harvest Moon,and Bravely Default vibes. Can’t wait to try this

I hope marvelous is going to put more work into those games in the future.. RF5 surely isn't the best they can do.

Im all in!!! Square Enix production values with excellent music, story, and style always met my expectations.

I've actually held off of RF5 after seeing some performance issues and this announcement was a HUGE surprise. Super excited to see Squeenix tackling this genre!!

I enjoyed RF5 for a short time, but there were some design aspects that were super questionable to me (like the annoying music and confetti flying all day on festival days). Overall it felt super rushed to me. This game looks like it has more care so I will be interested in giving it a try!

As a SoS/RF fan, I just hope this one also has relationships with villagers...

Gotta say this was the highlight of this direct for me. Kinda surprising considered we got sparks of hope. And I love Mario. But this trailer made my eyes pop. Can't wait to try this game. This reminds me of rune factory 4.

@@TylersGamingHub you can choose gender but the two protagonist are so gender fluid you won't recognize that the two are of different gender without looking at their official arts. Check their game website if you're curious, the only 'interest' character they don't post is Heine.

Fair enough to Square Enix; ever since the Harvest Moon/Story of Seasons split I feel like both franchise have been lacking a bit. Rune Factory is consistently solid; but I am in love with the idea of a core gameplay of RF with the signature style and aesthetic of Square Enix

I honestly don't think Rune factory 5 wasn't bad as everyone one says. Personally I love it frame rates asides. I will say that this game as peaked my interest but I'd see a bit more before I make a decision. It looks like it has potential

Dude!!! This looks like a like a mix of rune factory with bravely default. Marvelous and Xseed really are dropping the ball with Rune Factory and Harvest Moon (Story of Seasons) so hopefully Square Enix can give us what we're needing
