Harvest Right Freeze Dryer ERROR! Unable to Achieve Vacuum Pressure. Troubleshooting & Repair.

Are you having the same ERROR with your Freeze Dryer? I found the problem causing our error.
We recently started having troubles with our Harvest Right Freeze Dryer. While running a batch of food, we have been getting an "Unable to achieve vacuum" error. After checking all the troubleshooting tips in the manual and on the display it will usually finish the batch. However, it was becoming more frequent like something was wearing out until it would not finish a batch anymore.
I decided to do some more troubleshooting on my own and found that the drain valve appeared to be failing. I also noticed some oil leakage out the front of the pump glass window. I went to work fixing the least expensive issue first and achieved success. I have not had a problem since making the repair. It has been working great for 3 months so far since the fix.
Not sure if this is the fix for others if you are having the same error. Hopefully, this video will give you some ideas on what may be causing the same error.
Good luck!
Thanks for watching!

Very nice on getting it fixed. I don't have one, but if I did, youtube would probably be the first place I look for a solution. We do it with stuff all the time. Cars are probably our biggest searched thing. But I've even searched how to clean my oven when easy off doesn't work lol. Right now my biggest search is for how to use my camera Jessie got me for Valentine's Day. I gotta learn how to use this thing LOL. I gotta say at the price of those freeze dryers, I probably would have been sweating it a bit that it was throwing an error. I don't like spending money on things that don't last.

I think they should put a better valve on them but otherwise it has been working great. Take care and have a great day.

I work in scientific vacuum. My Harvest Right gets to under 200mT. 525 is not low enough even though it allows the machine to run. Make sure your valve is propane rated and use propane thread sealant on threads not teflon tape and make sure they are very snug. Check the door seal on the inside to see if there is any debris. It seals on the leading edge of the metal flange. The pump leaking oil will not affect vacuum. I hope this helps you.

Thanks for the tips. I did use a fuel gas rated valve but I did not use the right thread tape. However, since this fix, over a year ago, we have not had a single problem. The unit has been working great. I do still have the oil leakage at the glass though. Other than the mess from that, it does not seem to affect the performance. Thanks for watching and commenting. Thank you for the information and comment. I used the white simply because that is what I had on hand and it was a drain line for the water in the unit after the freeze dy process finishes. However, it makes total sense to use the other type for the pressure reason too. I realized I did wrap the tape the wrong way on one of the fittings. Luckily so far, so good.
