I watched this whole series and it is great and the explanations are fantastic, but when you listen to someone explain it it just sounds so overwhelming. When you get to play it, it is actually pretty intuitive. You just have to go into it knowing that you will need two or three plays to get it all down. Each game you can focus on a different bundle of rules. First game just try to get through it and don't think about a strategy that much. Next game focus on military actions and get that down, next game play a with fellowship focus, etc. The beauty of this game is that it will reveal its self to you over the course of playing it over and over, it is not a game that you can swallow in one gulp.

Thanks for posting this. I’m trying to learn this so I can teach it and I’m finding it quite overwhelming. So, one thing at a time then....

Hi there! Thanks for your great guides! I have a question about multiplayer games: how many cards does every player have as their starting hand at the beginning of the game? Am I getting this right, that in a 3 player game, all players get two cards as their starting hand (one from each deck) and therefore the Free People's player is at a disadvantage at the start in terms of the number of cards? Also, what is the draw order in a multiplayer game: leading player draws first and then the other? Thanks!

Im pretty sure you're correct about both of those questions. In the 3 player game the free peoples player would be at a disadvantage in the # of cards in hand. There is nothing in the FAQ either to clarify these: www.warofthering.eu/WotR_2nd_Ed_FAQ.pdf

Its the number of companions not including Frodo and Sam and from my memory when entering mount doom all companions who have not left the fellowship are simply removed from the game. And gollum is added if not there already. Meaning the Shadow player would only ever be able to allocate 1 die max at any time at this phase.

No, the video is right this time. Companions in the fellowship are not eliminated upon entering mount doom. They are eliminated whenever they sacrifice to remove hunt damage, or when an action would previously have moved them.
