Definitely watch the rest of the series!! There has never been anything like it before nor after. It grows with a generation of kids (90s kids mainly) thru to adulthood. And each movie gets darker and darker with their ages and relationships and etc changing immensely through out.

Welcome to The Wizarding World rabbit hole that is Harry Potter. The best thing about the Sorcerer's/Philosopher's Stone, to me is that the chambers following the third-floor corridor containing Fluffy each play to the strengths of Harry, Ron and Hermione. The Devil's Snare chamber caters to Hermione's knowledge of spells. The room with the winged keys caters to Harry's skill with quidditch. And the chess room caters to Ron's knowledge of how to play chess. Side notes: The Sorting Hat chooses new students' houses based on their corresponding personality traits: Gryffindor-Bravery, helping others, and chivalry. Hufflepuff-Hard work, patience, loyalty, and fair play. Ravenclaw-Intelligence, knowledge, and wit. Slytherin-Ambition, cunning and resourcefulness. Erised (The Mirror of Erised) is the word desire spelled backward. Hedwig is a snowy owl. They have ruffled wing feathers to silence their flight so prey animals don't hear them coming. They also have natural camouflage due to their coloration, and they're the only birds who don't have bare feet due to their habitats, like the Arctic Tundra. At the time of the deaths of Lily and James Potter at the hands of Voldemort, Harry was only 15 months old.

You asked if we want you to react the other movies... the answer is *definitely!* Looks like you did see only the Sorcerer/philosopher's stone, and you did not read the books. Then, I can tell you (no spoilers!) the second chapter is quite good but self-conclusive as the first one, but from the third one the things will get more and more complex, dark and mature and this will turbocharge your interest in Harry Potter.

#1 and #3 are my favorites and I’m 69 years old. No, they aren’t just kid movies! I read the books in 2011 and couldn’t put them down. I hardly remember them and need to read them again. I’ve watched the movies a bazillion times and more with reactors. The movies are all masterpieces, especially my early favorites!! I’m nipping your myth in the bud!

In the book, Filch goes ON about the forest, trying to scare the kids. He's what's called a Squib, someone born in a magical family, with no magical power himself. As a result, he absolutely detests students for having magic, something he will never have. In the book, he talks all about the forests on the walk down to Hagrid's. "Should've thought about them werewolves before breaking the rules" "I'll be back in the morning... for what's LEFT of them" and he also has anecdotes about how Dumbledore won't let him chain kids to the ceiling for days, but he really wishes he could and still keeps the shackles oiled in his office hopefully

Couple of questions answered for you: I believe that only the House Heads can give or remove points. McGonagall is the Head of Gryffindor. That is why she gave and removed points from the trio. She could not remove points from a student outside of her house. The Heads would likely discuss punishment with the others if points were to be removed. Lily (Harry's mother) protected Harry by casting herself in front of Voldemort's spell. It will be discussed later on why this protected Harry. Has to do with a protection spell that is maintained with Aunt Petunia. He has to be near her for at least a few weeks every year to maintain the spell. This way he cannot be harmed by Voldemort. The scar he has was due to the spell rebounding the curse Voldemort used. It is absolutely worth it to watch the rest of the movies. Some of them leave out details unfortunately but reading the books helps give important points to help answer most questions. C:

@@matheusneres4088 Good point. I forgot that Snape removed points during their potion class. Still I think that overall that the Heads are the ones that finalize the points given/removed. I don't know why McGonagall did not take points from Malfoy either. Granted her students were the ones breaking the rules first and foremost so that may be why she did not. She even tells Malfoy "honorable as your intentions were..." so she likely did not take points as he technically did the right thing turning them in but still had to discipline him

@Skrulzie. Any teacher can give or take away points from any student. In the books the Prefects as well as the Head Boy & Head Girl can also deduct points from the other students. Percy threatens to take away points from Ron & the twins tease another Prefect (not naming who in case it’s a spoiler) asking her if she’s going to take away points from them for not listening to her.

30:19 to win a quidditch match you have to score as many points as possible, the golden snitch does not make a team win, it earns the team that catches it 150 points and ends the game, so it's possible for a team to lose the game even though they caught the snitch ( they get 150 points and end the game but the other team has more points than them and so they win)

You might have figured some of this out in editing yourself, but I thought I'd share it anyway. Just in case. - Codswallop basically means bullshit. - Catching the Golden Snitch ends the game and gives 150 points, but if the other team has a bigger lead in points than that, you can still lose. - Harry's invisibility cloak is not visible to Snape, but he could hear Harry's heavy breathing. - The half man half horse in the dark forrest is a centaur. His name is Firenze and he has a bigger role in the books. - It does suck that Harry has to go back to the Dursleys. In the books it's explained that Dumbledore believes that the magical protection Harry's mother gave him by sacrificing herself is strongest when Harry is around his aunt (his mother's sister).

There are seven books and eight movies, book seven is split into two movies. Each book/movie is a year of school and they came out a year apart so the characters grow naturally. This movie is like an introduction to the characters and the wizarding world. Each year of school gets a little darker and the story line begins to mature. They are excellent movies and after the next one you will want to know what happens next.

Yes, please watch the rest of the movies. Harry must return to the Dursley’s every summer for his own protection. Dumbledore used Lily’s sacrifice to place a protective enchantment on Harry that keeps him safe & this enchantment requires that Harry live with a blood relative of his mother - his aunt Petunia. Petunia knows about the enchantment since Dumbledore explained what he had done in the letter. That’s why she took Harry into het home, in spite of her jealousy for Lily. Petunia knows that by keeping Harry she has protected him. The creature that saved Harry in the Dark Forest is a centaur. Centaurs are half man/half horse from Greek mythology. In Quidditch, putting the ball through the hoop scored 10 points. Catching the snitch earns 150 points & ends the game. The team with the most points wins so it is possible to lose even if you catch the Snitch. If your team has 20 points & the other team has 180 points & you catch the snitch then your team would still lose since the final score would be 180 to 170. It’s rare for the team that catches the snitch to lose but it does happen. Looking forward to your reactions to the rest of the Harry Potter movies. The story of Harry Potter is amazing.

Oh, these three first-years demonstrated adult levels of skill bravery and intelligence to stop the return of the deadliest wizard of all time. Yeah, that's about 50 points, the same amount that would be awarded for answering ten questions correctly

Hagrid knows more about Snape than we do. Or you do. You'll have to wait for some of the answers. Quidditch continues until the Golden Snitch is caught, however many days that takes. By that time either side might have far more than 150 points. One team can be down over 150, and then the seeker cannot catch the Snitch because ending the game is a loss; instead the losing side seeker has to avoid it to give rest of the team a chance to make more points. The director's daughter has a small role as Susan Bones.

When you are done with the series, may I suggest watching and reacting to Team StarKid's musical trilogy that parodies the shows. They are a theater group that got started at their university. They filmed their first parody and posted it to KZread and went viral. They have since filmed/produced about 14 live musicals as well as a couple web series, albums, and live shows. They have parodied not only Harry Potter, but Star Wars, Batman, Disney, etc. as well. They also have produced original musical comedies as well. Their early stuff was filmed at their university theater so the audio is not the best and subtitles help, but they have only gotten better with time. Also, there is bad language and "adult" content, but it doesn't hurt the shows. With the shows being uploaded directly to KZread by them, you could probably watch and react to the shows in full. I hope you consider it.

It's a little vague in the movie, but I do believe McGonagall implied Draco too when she say EACH, so they probably lost 50 points too. I might be remembering wrong but I think it was a thing in the book at least. Speaking of points, the reason they give points in Quidditch even if the Golden Snitch is worth 150 is because the games can takes an awful long amount of time to finish (it has been stated some games lasted WEEKS in the books), so technically you could end with scores like 350 to 450 and that would bring the victory to the 350 team. It's just the games are super short for one reason or another in the movie/books so that doesn't exactly come into play often. Hell I think it never happens in the movie and once or twice only in the books.

There is a 'blood spell' which not only protects Harry from dark wizards but also the Dursley's and Petunia knows this as she used to spy on her sister (Harry's mother). So Harry must return for at least 2 weeks/year for the spell to continue. The films become more adult from the 3rd one onwards. There is a reason why Snape hates Harry which will partly be revealed in the 5th film and full revealed in the last film. Draco can fly a broom because he was illegally doing so before he came to Hogwarts (so did Ron's sister: not declared in the films). Harry had a toy broomstick and used to chase his mother's cat and also broke a horrible vase: a present from his aunt to her sister. This was just before they were killed.

Catching the snitch ends the game and is worth a whopping 150 points. However, the house with the most points wins. So, even though it's rare, it's possible for your team to lose the game even though you caught the snitch. If one team has, say, 200 points, and your team has none but then you catch the snitch. You get 150 points and end the game but the other team has more points than yours and they win.

What I want to know is: Why don’t Quirrell/Voldemort’s hands disintegrate when he grabs Harry by the neck and starts choking him, if the spell is in his very skin, as Dumbledore states? In the film that doesn’t happen until Harry uses his hands to touch him/them.

well, technically what happens in the movie doesn't occur that way in the book. Quirrell doesn't die by Harry's touch, but Harry nearly dies again from the pain as he kept ahold of Quirrell because it kept him in pain and he was trying to buy time until someone could come down and help him. Dumbledore just made it back in time. Also in the books, Quirrell shakes Harry's hand in the pub the first time they meet, unlike in the movie where he acts like Harry has germs when he sticks his hand out for a shake and doesn't take Harry's hand.

@@Masq1980 Sorry, but... I believe the real reason Quirrell *was* able to touch Harry at first, was because he had NOT yet failed @ the Gringotts' Robbery for the stone, and thus, Mouldy-Mart was *not* yet so disappointed in his "Servant" that he needed to "keep a closer eye on [him]," as Quirrell put it in the dialogue in the *Book* at least! :)

The movies gets progressively worse, they are really bad adaptations, when it comes to Harry Potter - books for the win ;)

You may want to avoid The Lord of the Rings series and The Wizard of Oz. Terrible adaptations. And don't get me started on The Sound of Music.

i'll grant that starting from the 3rd the adaptation faithfulness goes downhill as the books get so much longer after the 3rd. but in the way a good ground brisket burger is inferior to a properly prepared filet mignon. movies are different than films as burgers are from steaks. they did pretty much the best you can in the format for 4,5,and 6. the 7th and 8th movies can include more with the increased run time but needing to give each half a proper narrative structure required so much meddling it is the only book i'd say was a poor movie adaptation.
